Duso","doi":"10.54103/2037-3597/21963","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.54103/2037-3597/21963","url":null,"abstract":"L’articolo, partendo da una considerazione sulla difficoltà che hanno gli studenti, dalla scuola all’università, a comprendere i fenomeni della coordinazione e della giustapposizione e a usare i connettivi testuali nei loro scritti, e basandosi sulle riflessioni teoriche di Colombo e Prandi, prende in esame una serie di grammatiche scolastiche edite in particolare negli ultimi dieci anni (2011-2021) per verificare che cosa degli approfondimenti scientifici sul tema sia penetrato nella manualistica scolastica. Si analizzano quindi 21 grammatiche della scuola secondaria di primo e secondo grado, costatando come la maggior parte di esse abbia conservato una prospettiva tradizionale con definizioni incomplete o errate, senza distinguere tra coordinazione e giustapposizione e quindi tra frase e testo. Gli esercizi chiedono principalmente di classificare ed etichettare le diverse forme di coordinazione, anche se – in particolare nelle poche grammatiche più innovative – compaiono anche esercizi più utili e funzionali poi allo sviluppo delle abilità di scrittura. \u0000  \u0000Between linguistics and didactics: coordination and juxtaposition in school grammar books \u0000  \u0000The article, starting from a consideration of the difficulty that students, from school to university, have in understanding the phenomena of coordination and juxtaposition and in using textual connectives in their writing, and based on the theoretical reflections of Colombo and Prandi, examines a series of school grammar books published in particular in the last ten years (2011-2021) to verify to what extent in-depth studies on the subject have penetrated into school textbooks. Therefore, 21 grammar books for secondary and high schools were analysed, noting how most of them have retained a traditional perspective with incomplete or incorrect definitions, without distinguishing between coordination and juxtaposition and thus between sentence and text. Così può succedere che i dubbi o le domande – nel nostro caso sui confini tra frase e testo – che il saggio ha suscitato prendano forma scritta e vengano addirittura inviate all’autore del saggio. Lo strumento consiste di diagrammi raffiguranti la struttura concettuale di eventi di movimento espressi dai verbi d’uso più comune da usarsi in classe per spiegare la distribuzione (e l’alternanza) degli ausiliari avereed essere. Le proprietà semantiche più pertinenti alla selezione dell’ausiliare sono rese in immagini schematiche che raffigurano la struttura concettuale di base degli eventi espressi dalle tre classi di verbi esaminati: verbi che selezionano o avere o essere e verbi che selezionano entrambi. \u0000  \u0000Essere o avere? A proposal for the application of cognitive grammar to the teaching of auxiliary selection in Italian L2 \u0000  \u0000This article contributes to the research on the application of Cognitive Linguistics to foreign language instruction by offering a didactic tool for teaching auxiliary selection to English-speaking beginner students of Italian L2. The tool consists of diagrams depicting the conceptual structure of motion events denoted by common usage verbs to be used in class to explain the distribution (and alternation) of the auxiliaries avere and essere. Le diverse relazioni tra queste due categorie grammaticali – enunciatore e contesto – sono qui analizzate in riferimento ai criteri della grammatica dell'enunciato di Francisco Matte Bon. In questa cornice, la comunicazione viene intesa come movimento tra due poli non oppositivi, tema e rema. Sulla base di esempi contestualizzati provenienti dal Corpus del Español del Siglo XXI (CORPES), verranno esaminati i valori comunicativi del marcatore bueno e le possibili combinazioni con altri operatori grammaticali, quali y e pero. \u0000“Individual presuppositions”  and implicit influences in the use of discourse markers  \u0000In the wake of meta-operational grammar and starting from the need to place the role of the enunciator and the importance of the context at the centre of metalinguistic reflection, the essay proposes to overcome the methodological insufficiency of the description and classification of discourse markers in Spanish, which have always been tackled with an extralinguistic and lexico-centric approach. The different relations between these two grammatical categories – enunciator and context – are analysed here with reference to the criteria of Francisco Matte Bon's enunciative grammar. Within this framework, communication is understood as movement between two non-oppositional poles, theme and rheme. Utilizzando il metodo del ritratto linguistico, analizziamo una collezione di ritratti creati da giovani studenti nell’ambito del progetto “RepertoirePluS” (Eurac Research), insieme alle loro conversazioni sui ritratti. La nostra analisi si basa sul concetto di Spracherleben proposto da Busch (2017), che enfatizza gli aspetti emotivi ed esperienziali dell’uso della lingua. Esaminiamo come gli studenti utilizzino le metafore del corpo per rappresentare le loro percezioni di sé e degli altri e come esprimano le emozioni che sorgono nell’interazione e che sono inscritte e si inscrivono nel corpo. La nostra analisi dimostra l’importanza dei metodi linguistico-biografici e visivi nel catturare gli aspetti emotivi ed esperienziali dell’uso della lingua, e forniscono spunti sul rapporto tra lingua, identità ed emozione in contesti multilingui. \u0000  \u0000Drawing the linguistic experience: body metaphors in linguistic portraits \u0000  \u0000This study investigates the emotional and experiential dimensions of individual linguistic repertoires within the multilingual social context of Alto Adige. Using the linguistic portrait method, we analyze a collection of portraits created by young students as part of the “RepertoirePluS” project (Eurac Research), along with their conversations about the portraits. Our analysis is based on the concept of Spracherleben proposed by Busch (2017), which emphasizes the emotional and experiential aspects of language use. We examine how students use body metaphors to represent their perceptions of themselves and others, and how they express the emotions that arise during interaction and are stored in the body. {"title":"YOUNG ADULTS’ INFERENTIAL READING SKILLS – RECOGNISING IMPLICIT AND UNSTATED CONTENT IN ITALIAN L1 AND ENGLISH L2","authors":"S. This process requires making pragmatic inferences. Previous studies have mainly focused on the processing of scalar implicatures in various populations, such as L2 learners, children, elders and individuals with Atypical Development. However, research on the inferential skills of L1 speakers and Typical Development (TD) young adults, and related to other kinds of implied meanings, is more limited. In this study we investigated the reading comprehension abilities of TD adults in the retrieval of various kinds of meanings in a written narrative text, both in L1 Italian and in L2 English. Adopting a between-subjects design, we administered an online questionnaire, in Italian and English versions, to Italian university students enrolled in various degree courses (54 participants per version). The questionnaire included a reading passage and multiple-choice comprehension items designed to assess the retrieval of 11 units of presupposed information, 4 units of entailed information, and 4 units of unstated content. Our findings partially diverged from previous research: a) the L2 speakers exhibited higher overall comprehension accuracy than L1 speakers; b) entailments were easier to retrieve than presuppositions or unstated information; and c) the L2 speakers’ performance did not appear to correlate with their proficiency level. We offer tentative explanations for these results: i) the students may have had more experience in comprehension tasks in their L2 or may have approached the questionnaire in the L2 with more attentiveness; ii) detecting entailments may be less challenging than other types of content since it involves recognising obvious reformulations of content; and iii) the levels of L2 proficiency were uneven across participants, or the participants’ self-reported L2 proficiency levels might not have accurately reflected the participants’ actual abilities, or at and intermediate/advanced proficiency level, the ability to retrieve meanings in text may be tied to cognitive factors that cut across language varieties. \u0000  \u0000Abilità di lettura inferenziale dei giovani adulti - riconoscimento di contenuti impliciti e non dichiarati in italiano L1 e inglese L2 \u0000La comprensione di un testo scritto comporta non solo decifrarne il contenuto letterale, espresso esplicitamente, ma anche recuperarne i significati impliciti, veicolati indirettamente, ricorrendo a indizi contestuali. In particolare, i dimostrativi questo e quello all’interno di alcune specifiche configurazioni sintattico-discorsive possono assumere funzione valutativa e intensificare o mitigare gli attributi qualitativi del referente, facendo leva su conoscenze realmente condivise dai parlanti o presupposte come tali. Evaluative uses of proximal and distal deictics \u0000In this contribution, we intend to investigate two Italian constructions in which proximal and distal deictics, starting from their original functions, have developed additional discursive-pragmatic functions. In particular, the demonstratives questo ‘this’ and quello ‘that’ within some specific syntactic and discursive configurations can take on evaluative functions. They can intensify or mitigate the qualitative attributes of the referent, drawing on the knowledge shared by the speakers or presupposed as such. {"title":"COMPROMISSIONI SEMANTICO-LESSICALI NEI PAZIENTI ITALOFONI AFFETTI DA DEMENZA: UN’ANALISI CORPUS-BASED","authors":"E. A tale scopo è stato reclutato un campione di 40 soggetti anziani lucani, divisi in due gruppi bilanciati per sesso ed età: 20 soggetti cognitivamente integri e 20 soggetti con diagnosi conclamata di demenza (morbo di Alzheimer, demenza mista, demenza frontotemporale, demenza vascolare o demenza non specificata), assistiti nella RSA Universo Salute - Opera Don Uva (PZ). Mediante la somministrazione di tre task linguistici, è stato acquisito un corpus di circa 9 ore di sonoro: completata l’annotazione a livello ortografico, fonetico-acustico, morfosintattico, semantico-lessicale e sintattico, sono stati estratti 151 indici linguistici, poi comparati tra le due coorti in ottica quantitativa/qualitativa al fine di evidenziare tratti linguistici che significativamente distinguono l’eloquio di soggetti affetti da una forma di declino cognitivo. In questa sede proponiamo i risultati dell’analisi semantico-lessicale condotta sui testi orali raccolti: la valutazione delle molteplici feature estratte, arricchita da riflessioni di tipo qualitativo, consente di caratterizzare con maggiore precisione i deficit semantico-lessicali riconducibili all’insorgenza di una patologia dementigena.   \u0000  \u0000Lexical-semantic impairments in Italian-speaking patients with dementia: a corpus-based analysis \u0000This study aims at characterizing the linguistic-communicative profile of dementia diseases in the Italian language. To this purpose, we recruited a sample of 40 elderly subjects from Basilicata, divided into two groups balanced by sex and age: 20 cognitively intact subjects and 20 patients with a diagnosis of dementia (i.e., Alzheimer's disease, mixed dementia, frontotemporal dementia, vascular dementia, or unspecified dementia) resident in the nursing home RSA Universo Salute - Opera Don Uva (PZ). We acquired a corpus of about 9 hours of semi-spontaneous speech exploiting three linguistic tasks. After annotating the spoken texts at the orthographic, phonetic-acoustic, morphosyntactic, and semantic levels, we extracted 151 linguistic indexes (i.e., the so-called “Digital Linguistic Biomarkers” DLBs). Then we quantitatively/qualitatively compared them between the cohorts to highlight linguistic markers that significantly distinguish the speech of each group. Here we present the findings of the lexical-semantic analysis conducted on the oral texts. Il lavoro introduce la nozione di vaghezza implicitante, e presenta una panoramica sulle funzioni principali della vaghezza intenzionale, mostrando come esse si collochino lungo un continuum di cooperatività in senso griceano. Presenteremo poi le tre categorie operative delle nostre analisi: vaghezza lessicale, vaghezza sintattica e vaghezza da implicatura, quest’ultima suddivisa in vaghezza da implicatura particolarizzata, vaghezza da ironia, vaghezza da metafora e vaghezza da iperbole. Ciascuna categoria operativa viene presentata con numerosi esempi tratti dal discorso pubblico persuasivo contemporaneo in diverse lingue. \u0000  \u0000Linguistic vagueness as an implicit persuasive strategy and a phenomenon at the interface between semantics, syntax and pragmatics. Examples from contemporary public discourse in different languages \u0000This work presents a pragmatic-cognitive model for analyzing the phenomenon of linguistic vagueness as an implicit persuasive and potentially manipulative strategy. In our study, we will delineate the difference between the concepts of systemic vagueness, soritical vagueness, and intentional vagueness. The latter will be the focus of the analyses presented here. The work introduces the notion of implicating vagueness and provides an overview of the main functions of intentional vagueness, showing how they fit along a continuum of Gricean cooperativeness. We will present the three operative categories of our analyses: lexical vagueness, syntactic vagueness, and implicature-based vagueness, the latter being divided into particularized implicature vagueness, irony vagueness, metaphorical vagueness, and hyperbolic vagueness.
