This paper presents a method based on period scale, process and analyze not only major parameters of state standard, but also short-time and long-time issues, so it can realize real-time monitoring and quantificational analysis. The synchronized sampling data and error item are used to express nonsynchronized sampling serial, advances a iterative formula. Nonsynchronized data is close to synchronized data by iteration. From the point of view of spectrum of period signal, the method decreases and disappears even spectrum leaking. In addition, the method decrease the amount of sampling points in one period, and sampling data of several sampling interval.","PeriodicalId":427228,"journal":{"name":"2004 IEEE International Conference on Electric Utility Deregulation, Restructuring and Power Technologies. In this paper, a static model of aggregate power load suitable for whole voltage range is studied. A dynamic model of aggregate load with the characteristics of power recovery and instability is also discussed. The above model uses equivalent admittance as essential variable, discovers the internal and essential property of synthetic load. Therefore it could be applied for any place where the effects of load must be considered, especially voltage stability studies. An improved direct algorithm used for model parameter identification is also proposed. The simulated examples are provided to show the ability of the model to describe actual load and the feasibility of the algorithm.","PeriodicalId":427228,"journal":{"name":"2004 IEEE International Conference on Electric Utility Deregulation, Restructuring and Power Technologies. To achieve such an objective with relatively low risk, Gencos can participate in different markets where different returns may be obtained with different degrees of risks. In this paper, we assume that Gencos have options, i.e. selling energy in an energy market, in an operating reserve market or in both. The optimal generation capacity allocation problem is modeled as a risky investment portfolio problem and the well-developed portfolio theory is applied to maximize the Genco' profit with risk associated well taken into account. An optimization model is developed and a solving approach presented. Finally, numerical examples are served for demonstrating the developed model and approach.","PeriodicalId":427228,"journal":{"name":"2004 IEEE International Conference on Electric Utility Deregulation, Restructuring and Power Technologies. Traditional protections developed in radial systems are difficult in coordination and in protecting against high impedance fault (HIF), sometimes it may cause nuisance tripping in the DG systems. A decentralized multi-agent based protection with capability of HIF detection, fault location and load shedding for the DG systems is proposed in the paper. Digital relay is designed as a relay agent which is capable of searching for information from other relay agents, interacting with other relay agents and performing tasks of protection with autonomy and cooperating. The agent based protection scheme is also presented. EMTP simulation results show that the proposed agent based protection scheme can remove the influence of load switching operations, protect against HIF, electric shock. The prototype of relay agent is developed, the research is now in progress on testing the prototype in dynamic power system.","PeriodicalId":427228,"journal":{"name":"2004 IEEE International Conference on Electric Utility Deregulation, Restructuring and Power Technologies. Harmonic power flow with current injection model calculates bus voltages and total harmonic distortion (THD). THD indices of voltages are used to determine measurement placement in the power system. At metering buses, it shows that harmonic components of voltage under various loads would form particular patterns in the frequency domain, and can be used to create training examples for CCN. Meter planning is helpful to reduce the number of meters and hence the training examples. With 14-bus power system, computer simulations were conducted to show the effectiveness of the proposed system.","PeriodicalId":427228,"journal":{"name":"2004 IEEE International Conference on Electric Utility Deregulation, Restructuring and Power Technologies. An agent-based simulation model is developed in this paper to compare the market characteristics under different pricing methods. In this model the generators learn bidding strategy using reinforced learning algorithm in repeated bidding game to seek for their maximum profits. Simulation result is presented based on the data from IEEE Reliability Test System, showing that the EVE pricing method has many market characteristics better than other pricing methods. For example, when EVE is used in market pricing, there exists little room for a power supplier to raise the market price by his strategic bidding and the market becomes robust in some sense. And also EVE provides an intrinsic and reasonable mechanism to compensate the capacity investment automatically.","PeriodicalId":427228,"journal":{"name":"2004 IEEE International Conference on Electric Utility Deregulation, Restructuring and Power Technologies.
