The dictionary contains the following information about Dan lexical units: the phonological form of a word, its lexical meaning, valence, stylistic characteristics and usage peculiarities. It is followed by figurative expressions with the word in question; for some words synonyms and quasi-synonyms are also given. Many entries include illustrative examples in Eastern Dan with a French translation.The spelling of Eastern Dan words follows the 2014 orthography, where tones are marked with diacritics.The dictionary is based on the varieties of the Goueta dialect, althouth forms from other Eastern Dan dialects are sometimes given as well.","PeriodicalId":42275,"journal":{"name":"Mandenkan-Bulletin Semestriel d Etudes Linguistiques Mande","volume":"21 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.3,"publicationDate":"2021-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86173266","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Though belonging to the end of a word (either synchronically or diachronically) in coda position, latent nasals more often appear as mutations or modifications to either the initial consonant of the following morpheme or the preceding vowel. This paper draws together extant descriptive data on Samogo nasals and considers them in the broader typology of consonant and vowel nasality in Mande. Finally, the question of phonological representation vs. phonetic realization is considered with preliminary acoustic data from Seenku [sos]; the weak surface realization of the nasal raises questions about an analysis in which it is floating and suggests that recent developments in Gradient Symbolic Representation (Smolensky & Goldrick 2016) may be applicable to the data.","PeriodicalId":42275,"journal":{"name":"Mandenkan-Bulletin Semestriel d Etudes Linguistiques Mande","volume":"27 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.3,"publicationDate":"2020-07-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"85927025","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The n‑grams in the dataset are positional skipgrams that capture information about co-occurrence of lexical items with grammatical categories at various relative positions. These n‑grams were constructed with the aim to leverage those types of information that are available in the morphologically annotated corpus of Bambara given the limited amount of textual data. The methodology and data used for constructing n‑grams for Bambara are discussed, followed by brief illustrations of how the positional skipgrams data may be employed in corpus-based linguistic research.","PeriodicalId":42275,"journal":{"name":"Mandenkan-Bulletin Semestriel d Etudes Linguistiques Mande","volume":"122 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.3,"publicationDate":"2020-05-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87234867","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

La marque ka est un operateur a distribution limitee : il ne dessert que les constructions de l’aspect neutre et les constructions negatives perfectives. Konoshenko","doi":"10.4000/mandenkan.1585","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.4000/mandenkan.1585","url":null,"abstract":"The paper criticially discusses Green’s (this issue) binary typology of replacive tones in Western Mande nominal constructions. Green’s distinction between the two types of replacive tones in Western Mande is based on the existence of Word 2 to Word 2 tone spreading, which is attested in a subset of languages under the scope of Green’s paper. I suggest to shift the focus of Mande replacive tone typology from Word 2 to Word 2 tone spreading, as put forward by Green, to the properties of Word 2 tonal neutralization. The crucial evidence in favour of my approach comes from other Mande branches not discussed in Green’s paper. I argue that there are two types of Word 2 tonal neutralization in Mande. The first type covers phonological neutralization, whereby Word 2 gets a default (unmarked) tone and/or it may get its tone from Word 2 via spreading, this type is attested in Central Mande. The second type is morphological (morphosyntactic) neutralization whereby Word 2 is assigned a specific tone marker, typically low or extra‑low tone. This type of Word 2 neutralization is attested in Southern, Soso‑Southwestern Mande, Vai, and Soninke, although it is obscured by further surface W1 to W2 spreading in Soso‑Southwestern Mande and Vai.","PeriodicalId":42275,"journal":{"name":"Mandenkan-Bulletin Semestriel d Etudes Linguistiques Mande","volume":"36 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.3,"publicationDate":"2018-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"81554886","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
