The paper questions the ambiguous relationship between tonality and modality, and asserts the previously only peripherally attested importance of modes for Dutilleux's works. Kleinertz","doi":"10.52412/mf.2014.h1.65","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.52412/mf.2014.h1.65","url":null,"abstract":"Gemessen am Gesamtumfang des Schrifttums über Wagner nehmen Studien zu grundsätzlichen Fragen der Analyse von \"Form\" / \"Formen\" seiner Musik einen zahlenmäßig untergeordneten Rang ein. Dies könnte nicht zuletzt auch ein Problem der Begrifflichkeit sein, mit der sich das Spezifische der Musik Wagners überhaupt beschreiben ließe. Neben dem Begriff \"Motiv\" beziehungsweise \"Leitmotiv\" ist derjenige der \"dichterisch-musikalischen Periode\" der einzige von Wagner geprägte Begriff. Seiner Bedeutung für die Analyse von Wagners Werken wird im Folgenden nachgegangen. - Ausgehend von Wagners Verwendung von Begriffen wie \"Versmelodie\" und \"Tonart\" wird zunächst herausgearbeitet, dass in seinen Opern \"musikalische Modulation\" stets in Verbindung mit dem Versinhalt auf Empfindungen zurückleitet. Aus entsprechend sprachlich motivierten Modulationen aus einer Grundtonart heraus eröffnen sich neue Möglichkeiten des musikalischen Ausdrucks. Im nächsten Schritt werden Auffassungen von Wagners Periodenbegriff in der Forschungsliteratur erörtert (Alfred Lorenz, Carl Dahlhaus, Peter Petersen, Thomas S. Grey, Werner Breig). Diese werden anhand von Wagners Opern (insbesondere \"Der Ring des Nibelungen\") sowie den musiktheoretischen Äußerungen des Komponisten (vor allem in \"Oper und Drama\") auf ihre Tragfähigkeit überprüft. Dabei wird festgehalten, dass das Problem der Motivation von Modulationen durch das Drama für Wagner ein zentrales harmonisches Effektmittel war. Bereits in \"Oper und Drama\" betonte er, dass der Musiker bei Versen gleicher Empfindung keinen Grund habe, die Tonart zu verlassen. Diesen Grund liefert erst der Wechsel der Empfindungen, die er in seinen Ausführungen zur \"dichterisch-musikalischen Periode\" formuliert. It frames the idea of an applied ethnomusicology, understood as an approach guided by principles of social responsibility, and as scholarship, knowledge and understanding put to practical use. The article discusses the emergence and relevance of applied ethnomusicology in Anglophone academia as well as the German-speaking world and gives insight into different fields in which applied ethnomusicology can be practiced: from traditional areas such as musical archives and museums to activism against social justice and for the rights of indigenous people and minorities, activism for musical and cultural sustainability or health, to musicological interventions in conflict situations and, finally, ethnomusicological contributions to music pedagogy. Jahrhunderts, das auf Blatt 7 recto einen kurzen Tropar enthält. Verzeichnet sind im Tropar Gesänge zum Weihnachtsfest, zum Fest des hl. Stephanus und zum Fest des hl. Johannes. Sowohl das Repertoire wie auch die melodischen Lesarten lassen sich in identischer Form in keiner weiteren Quelle aufzeigen. Der Tropus im Stephanus-Formular deutet auf eine Verbindung der aufgezeichneten Praxis nach St. Gallen und Eichstätt hin.
