Preferences for wellbeing tourism versus the psychological wellbeing of individuals","authors":"Anna Młynkowiak-Stawarz","doi":"10.15219/em99.1610","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.15219/em99.1610","url":null,"abstract":"This paper is part of a study on the impact of tourism experiences on the psychological wellbeing of individuals. Integrating the approach of positive psychology and research on tourists’ behaviour within the field of marketing, Caroll Ryff's concept of psychological wellbeing and the concept of wellbeing tourism were used for this purpose. The aim of the research was to investigate differences in the level of perceived psychological wellbeing by tourists preferring different types of wellbeing tourism, and the article presents theoretical and practical premises for defining wellbeing tourism. Wellbeing tourism can be defined as a specific type of tourism based on six pillars that ensure a sustainable approach to travel and leisure - simultaneous care for the body, soul, and mind of the tourist, as well as the environment, society, and economy of the destination area. Through analysis of variance, it was found that these differences are significant for those preferring natural and cultural wellbeing tourism, and they are also influenced by the perception of one's financial situation. Applying the results of the study will enable tourism enterprises to design an offer for tourists that will increase their sense of psychological wellbeing.","PeriodicalId":42136,"journal":{"name":"E-Mentor","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2023-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"49426347","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The use of intelligent systems in organisations is not a strictly technical issue, and is also important in the management of modern enterprises. The aim of this article is to provide a theoretical analysis of the phenomenon of Artificial Intelligence in management sciences by means of a systematic review of the literature using Scopus database records. Bibliographic analysis of Artificial Intelligence in management sciences in this article points to this topic as something relatively new in the case of management sciences, although rapidly developing. As part of the bibliographic analysis we propose an agenda regarding the issue of AI in management sciences, consisting of thematic clusters related to technologies based on and complementary to AI, the goals of using AI in organisations, human-AI relations and issues related to ethics and sustainable development.","PeriodicalId":42136,"journal":{"name":"E-Mentor","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2023-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48511977","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper attempts to bridge the gap by using silent videos to stimulate creative writing with a constructivism paradigm. Conducted in an Engineering college in the rural part of South India, two classes with 60 students each (both male and female) from first-year engineering (heterogeneous classes) at CEFR B1 level were chosen for the study. The researchers were the course instructors themselves, with fifteen-minute silent sports videos used for both groups. A sports video with audio was used for the controlled group, whereas one without audio was used for the target group. The controlled group tape-scripted the video content as they listened, while the experimental group created the script for the video on their own. The scripts were assessed for language quality based on vocabulary usage, sentence formation, and choice of words. The assessment details demonstrated that the experimental group students had demonstrated better scriptwriting skills compared to the control group students, who had relied on the audio and tried to paraphrase the words they had heard, leading to unclear scripting. This research showed that silent videos also help in grasping the English language by ESL learners, especially in creative writing and script drafting, evidentially proving that silent videos stimulate autonomous writing among students as they do not depend on audio for tape scripting. It further enhanced their writing skills with creative ability, and, further, the students preferred silent videos over audio videos due to better outcomes.","PeriodicalId":42136,"journal":{"name":"E-Mentor","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2023-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48961878","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The first part of the study describes the multidimensionality of the concept of wellbeing and the difficulties in defining it. An important element of the conducted analysis is the presentation of the positive effects of the implementation of wellbeing in organisations, including elements of wellbeing dimensions and activities affecting wellbeing, while the most important part of the article is the diagnosis of the applicability of the PERMA model in the study of employee wellbeing and positive education. Different elements of the model are described and the latest solutions with regards to its improvement are presented. An analysis of the literature showed that a model with four additional dimensions - physical health, mindset, work environment and economic security - may be the most useful for analysing employee wellbeing. The next part of this publication is devoted to the use of the PERMA model in the classification of interventions, where we show that the model not only enables diagnosis of the weaknesses of wellbeing, but even facilitates the assigning of specific interventions. These solutions make it possible to build wellbeing that positively impacts employee behaviour, with the authors indicating discrepancies in the activities undertaken by organisations and the needs of employees with regards to wellbeing. The findings suggest that employees expect activities related to the development of their mental dimension and economic security, not necessarily related to physical health, which are most commonly implemented by organisations.","PeriodicalId":42136,"journal":{"name":"E-Mentor","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2023-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42378055","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The article addresses the issue of the application of computer-assisted analysis of textual data in the procedure of qualitative research from the perspective of its user. Due to the wide scope of the issue being addressed, the question being considered is the applicability of working with a selected program from the CAQDAS family - VERBI Software's MaxQda program. The first part of the article recalls milestones in the development of digital tools that researchers can use to analyse textual data. Next, the metaphor of a \"text lab\" is explained, describing how to work with the MaxQda program during data reduction and representation. The next section presents the results of a comparative analysis of secondary sources, using data from three sources: Herzing's Publish or Perish citation ranking, ProQuest databases, and the Biblioteka Nauki platform. The corpus of data consisted of research reports in which the authors declared that they used the MaxQda program. The analysis made it possible to identify the program's capabilities on which the authors of the reports focus, as well as the scientific fields that the authors represent. The conclusion reflects on the contribution of modern technology to the development of qualitative data analysis, and provides examples of the dilemmas that a researcher may face during the next stages of computer-assisted analytical work, using their own analytical practice as an example.","PeriodicalId":42136,"journal":{"name":"E-Mentor","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2023-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48235807","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It was developed on the basis of the author's own research on information needs in the negotiation process, a literature review, and analysis of selected training outlines in the field of negotiations. The basis of the presented model is the traditional intelligence cycle adopted and extended for the needs of the aforementioned process. In the first part, the author outlines the issues of business intelligence in a company, describing its role and how it can be used to obtain information and make accurate decisions. He successively evokes the issues of negotiations, presenting selected models of the negotiation process with particular emphasis on the preparatory phase, and then presents selected tools used in the negotiations. The main part of the article is the author's model of using business intelligence in the negotiation process and a description of this model. The most important advantage of the presented model is that it can be used as a tool and even as a whole preparatory phase, covering all the necessary aspects at this stage to make appropriate decisions, i.e. developing strategies, tactics, potential scenarios, techniques, etc. This model is intended to create an advantage in negotiations based on knowledge.","PeriodicalId":42136,"journal":{"name":"E-Mentor","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2023-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47598338","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In addition, we analyze the impact of these factors on the student's average grade obtained in the last academic year. The study presented here focuses on the interaction of the following factors: 1) perceived organizational support from the university, and 2) student involvement in the study process. The concept of the culture of knowledge-sharing is a theoretical basis for the analysis. As a result, the research explores the impact of the factors (1 and 2) mentioned above on the effectiveness of the student's academic development. Based on the literature review, it is being assumed that the culture of knowledge-sharing is built in a two-way process: on the one hand, the university is to support the students in their development, and on the other hand, students themselves are to show commitment to this process. However, the available literature does not clearly indicate the strength of the relationship or the directions of influence between the elements of the model. The study conducted to create this analysis consisted of two stages: the first was carried out in June 2019, the second in May 2020, after the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. This allowed for more complete conclusions regarding the interaction of factors responsible for building the academic culture of sharing knowledge. Regardless of whether students work in a classroom or in an e-classroom (remotely), the results show that the basis for their involvement is the support they perceive from universities, setting ambitious tasks for them, and accompanying them in overcoming emerging challenges. The factor modifying the relationship between university support and the effectiveness of academic development turned out to be the student's involvement in the study process.","PeriodicalId":42136,"journal":{"name":"E-Mentor","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2023-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46827613","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To date, this form has been used primarily by enterprises with branches dispersed across one or multiple countries. This form of performing duties by employees brought a number of benefits in the form of acceleration of decision-making processes, and reduction of time and costs. In the past, teleworking time was regulated according to needs and supported by a significantly reduced number of face-to-face employee meetings. With the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, remote work has become the main or only form of contact with colleagues and superiors in many situations related to the ban on movement, regardless of the place of business. At that time, employers were concerned that it would not result in a decrease in employee engagement and job satisfaction. The article was intended to identify and assess the relationship and cause-and-effect relationship between commitment and job satisfaction in the context of remote work. The results of the study helped to expand knowledge about relationships. It has been confirmed that there is a positive relationship between employee engagement and job satisfaction; In addition, employees distinguish between commitment to work and organization, and the impact of types of commitment on job satisfaction varies. It has also been shown that both remote work and employee involvement affect their job satisfaction.","PeriodicalId":42136,"journal":{"name":"E-Mentor","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2023-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43123306","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The choice of the Polish term is of significance for intuitive understanding of this phenomenon by both researchers and non-specialists, including practitioners. The main objective is to systematize the terminological issues and thus propose a Polish translation of the term ambidexterity, in the discipline of management and quality sciences, in the sub-discipline of process management. Methods such as bibliometric analysis and a review of the Polish literature on the subject, using the Publish or Perish database, were used to achieve the main objective. The results of the study and the conclusions formulated contribute to the current knowledge regarding the discussion on the Polish equivalent of the term ambidexterity. In the Authors' opinion, the concept most fully and accurately reflecting the context of the contradiction between exploitative and exploratory activities in process management, within the sphere of the discussed BPM issues, is duality. The article is original in nature because, even if partially, it fills the cognitive gap concerning the sparsity of publications addressing the integrative view of ambidexterity and BPM.","PeriodicalId":42136,"journal":{"name":"E-Mentor","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2023-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47005355","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Properly selected marketing tools not only allow the information function to be fulfilled, but also positive relationships with customers to be created and maintained. In addition to advertising, which is one of the most popular forms of marketing, the factors affecting a company's image include the quality and price of the products and services offered. Like all other business entities conducting their activities, banks use certain instruments to attract and retain customers. Almost everyone uses banking services, which is why it is important to stand out from the competition. The specificity of the functioning of banks differs from a company, because these institutions are subject to various restrictions, both domestic and international. In times of economic crisis, promotional activities are often decisive for the survival of a given entity on the market. The aim of this study was to discover customer opinions of marketing activities undertaken by banks. In their work, the authors made a characteristic of banking activity and brought closer the essence of banking marketing. Marketing instruments that are used in banking activities were also discussed. For the purposes of the article, the authors developed a survey questionnaire to perform consumer research on issues such as to what extent advertising affects the choice of a given bank's offer, which affects the bank's image as well as expectations towards these institutions.","PeriodicalId":42136,"journal":{"name":"E-Mentor","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2023-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46008497","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
