To apply this control technique, the synchronization error is converted into nominal form and a special form that contains some unknown terms which are computed adaptively. The controller for stabilizing the error system consists of compensation and nominal control. Lyapunov stability equations are used to design the adaptive laws and compensation control. The effectiveness of the technique is displayed via simulation results.","PeriodicalId":413577,"journal":{"name":"2018 AEIT International Annual Conference","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124554066","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper focuses on an efficient coordinated multicast transmission in Ultra Dense Networks. In particular, a new iterative algorithm is proposed, whose goal is the minimization of the total transmitted power while guaranteeing a minimum received signal-to-noise-plus-interference ratio to all users belonging to the multicast group. Small cells are opportunistically activated, using adaptive transmission power and beamforming weights, to increase the efficiency of the radiated power. The effectiveness of the proposed method is proven in terms of transmitted power and energy efficiency in comparison with different benchmark solutions.","PeriodicalId":413577,"journal":{"name":"2018 AEIT International Annual Conference","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133748297","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The National Strategic Plan, approved on November 10th, 2017 by the Ministry of Economic Development and the Ministry of the Environment, has launched an ambitious challenge, e.g., phasing-out of coal and the increase of electricity from renewable sources: more than 55% by 2030 of gross final consumption. The power system must be able to withstand unplanned events and manage their impacts on the network, thus reducing the risk of cascading effects and maintaining suitable quality of supply. During operation with a high percentage of RES connected to the network through inverters, the system is weaker (lower short circuit power) and, with currently adopted controls, less able to react to emerging faults. With the increase of PV installations, also due to reduction of rotating synchronous machines connected to transmission grid, there is lower Short-circuit-Power available and therefore voltage dips generated at transmission level have larger impact (c.g. area impacting supply quality widens hundreds of kilometers away from the event). This paper summarizes the main challenges in terms of impacting supply quality for the Italian Power system in a new scenario with more than 50% RES by 2030 of gross final consumption and suggests some computation procedures to investigate the phenomenon.","PeriodicalId":413577,"journal":{"name":"2018 AEIT International Annual Conference","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130058038","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To reduce the number of hops in data transmission from multiple smart meters, we present a framework for enabling edge computing to be available in smart meters. The framework is designed for supporting MapReduce processing to calculate and analyze data, the amount of power usage, in smart meters by using mobile code and mobile agent technologies. It can dynamically deploy programs for processing data at smart meters as a map step and executes the programs with local data. Finally, it aggregates the results of the programs to certain smart meters as a reduce step.","PeriodicalId":413577,"journal":{"name":"2018 AEIT International Annual Conference","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123272845","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Electrified railway lines require simulating trains during their typical trips, with acceleration and braking transients lasting at least several seconds or some minutes;. On the other hand, AC lines have quantities (voltages, currents) which vary much faster, e.g. at 50 or 60 Hz. This paper discusses how to model railway electric supply networks with a complexity adequate for long-run simulations, while still having good precision and details on the results. In particular, it discusses the usage of hybrid models combining the use of complex impedances for the supply system with dynamic models of trains. It also discusses the use of supply line models having a reduced number of conductors to make them smaller and faster to simulate, without loss of precision. The proposed techniques are implemented in models written in the Modelica simulation language, and results are shown, which compare precision and computational efficiency of models using the proposed technique with others built in a more conventional time-domain way.","PeriodicalId":413577,"journal":{"name":"2018 AEIT International Annual Conference","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123735359","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Phasor Measurement Units are the enabling technology for WAMS, since they provide synchronized measurements in spread points of the system characterized by higher data flow rate compared to traditional SCADA systems. They allow the measurement and the analysis of real time data to improve power system‘s reliability and efficiency. To work properly, every element of a WAMPAC system must be synchronized to a common reference time. Currently, the most common synchronization source is GPS, a system greatly vulnerable to cyber-attacks. To fully exploit WAMPAC systems‘ potential, cyber security issues must be taken into account. One possible solution could be the utilization of Precision Time Protocol (PTP) over Ethernet, as an alternative synchronization source.","PeriodicalId":413577,"journal":{"name":"2018 AEIT International Annual Conference","volume":"50 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116197405","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In fact, recommendation systems use similarity between users to derive “guidelines” aimed at the suggestion of products. Unfortunately, when association rules are used for recommendation algorithms, a strong limitation descends from a set of “crisp”, for which a product can only belong to a group or not. Fuzzy sets can be used to overcome the limits of approaches commonly used in current recommendation systems, which provide a degree of belonging of a concept to a set, according to real values in a continuous range.One of the fields of application for this new approach is that of human smart cities that is a field of study and a concept for the implementation of city projects that began in Europe and spread worldwide over the past few years. It planning focuses on citizens’ wishes, interests and needs, not on technology alone. Technology comes later, after a clear definition of the benefits to the local citizens. It follows that knowing the preferences of citizens and their interests is fundamental to building human centered smart cities. Citizens continuously express their emotions and preferences on social networks. Extracting information from these databases in automatic and correlated form is an idea to dynamically trace the evolution of a human smart city.","PeriodicalId":413577,"journal":{"name":"2018 AEIT International Annual Conference","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128578672","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
