The railway traffic increase, together with the improvement of passenger comfort, has produced a greater need for electricity. Consequently, solutions to augment the railway system capacity, including railway junctions, have to be achieved. In order to design new plants and to improve or certificate the existing ones, simulation of the overall railway system is necessary. In this paper the Authors propose a guideline with a theoretical approach to study the capacity of railway junctions.","PeriodicalId":413577,"journal":{"name":"2018 AEIT International Annual Conference","volume":"167 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115698190","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The new role explicitly attributed to DSOs by the European Commission legislative proposals (Clean Energy Package) and then by the national regulations drives the researches about the assessment of economic efficiency of installing DSO-managed energy storages. The paper describes a cost-benefit analysis for energy storages systems owned and managed by DSOs. Both medium and low voltage distribution networks have been taken into account and the final results are easily generalizable.","PeriodicalId":413577,"journal":{"name":"2018 AEIT International Annual Conference","volume":"59 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117109711","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Industrial research interests focus on this LED lamp technology, which is steadily in development, presenting continuous improvements and considerable advantages compared to the fluorescent lamps. It should be noted that both technologies introduce a high harmonic content in the power supply network, and therefore represent a non-linear load for the mains. The present work aims to analyze and study the electrical and photometric characteristics of the two technologies. For this purpose eight lamp types, four CFL and four LED lamps are tested, through laboratory measurements and detailed analyses. The photometric and electrical quantities of the lamps are then detected, and subsequently the variations undergone by these quantities with the aging of the lamps are verified and discussed. The measurements of the photometric quantities are performed according to the EN 13032–1: 2004 standard, and the tests on the electrical quantities aim to evaluate the harmonic content, and check if it meets the IEC 61000–3-2 standard.","PeriodicalId":413577,"journal":{"name":"2018 AEIT International Annual Conference","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123576037","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As a transformer, its basic function is still power delivery. Smart transformer with advanced controls can support MV gird voltage by absorbing/injecting reactive power while actively regulate the LV grid voltage. Due to the controllable voltage in both MV and LV side, the power delivery of smart transformer is flexible. This paper focuses on the power delivery characteristic of smart transformer and compares with the conventional low frequency transformer with the help of STACTOM at its primary side or on load tap changer at its secondary side, in the power system by means of maximum deliverable power and power-voltage curve analysis. The Simulink results validate that the smart transformer improves system voltage stability compared to the traditional low frequency transformer with load tap changer.","PeriodicalId":413577,"journal":{"name":"2018 AEIT International Annual Conference","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116021784","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is totally different from the very popular current control method used in fields oriented control (FOC) (or vector control methods) of BLDCMs, because instead convert alternating current (AC) into direct current (DC) at the FOC, the proposed method controls the alternating current waveform directly using repetitive control techniques for each phase. The proposed current control method is based on the internal model principle, and repetitive controllers are well known for containing the internal model. In addition, the repetitive control techniques have many excellent characteristics such as disturbance elimination. Such a control method proved an alternative way in control of BLDCM, especially when some things need to be considered such as 3 phase asymmetry, non-sine wave drive and etc.","PeriodicalId":413577,"journal":{"name":"2018 AEIT International Annual Conference","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117040013","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The elaboration is the result of a very intensive cooperation among the members with the objective to define a common view among the Mediterranean TSOs, aimed at assessing the feasibility of multiple interconnections across and within the Mediterranean Region. The story of Med-TSO starts in 2012, when 18 countries around the Mediterranean agreed to establish the Association, on a voluntary basis, as a technical platform for multilateral cooperation aiming at harmonizing rules on planning the Grids, operating the System and designing the Market. The Mediterranean Project main outcomes are:a)development of a reference Euro Mediterranean Grid at horizon year 2030 focusing on a Mediterranean Master Plan of new interconnections;b)definition of a set of rules for regional Grid Codes;c)identification of exploitation and optimization of the international electricity exchanges;d)set-up of a specific Mediterranean Data Base;e)implementation of a knowledge sharing program;f)pave the way to deployment of significant initiatives and proposed follow-ups.","PeriodicalId":413577,"journal":{"name":"2018 AEIT International Annual Conference","volume":"75 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129698218","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of the main outcomes of the project is the development of the Web-of-Cells (WoC) concept for the operation of the future power system characterized by an extremely high penetration of distributed and renewable energy sources. According to the WoC the power system is split into control cells. A cell is defined as a portion of the power grid able to maintain an agreed power exchange at its boundaries by using the internal flexibility of any type available from flexible generators, loads and storage systems. The total amount of internal flexibility in each cell shall be at least enough to compensate the cell generation and load uncertainties in normal operation. In this paper we present the main features of the WoC and some other related aspects of this new control concept together with the main results of from the ELECTRA activity.","PeriodicalId":413577,"journal":{"name":"2018 AEIT International Annual Conference","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129090901","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The objective of the current work is to examine this type of electrical machines at system level, by demonstrating its post-failure behavior and drawing potential causes and effects of these reactions. In the analysis part, the influence of the fault severity on the machine's performance is analyzed through simulation models built in MATLAB/Simulink environment. The presented findings elucidate the fault signatures and factors that contribute to hazard fault propagation, such as the fault intensity, pre-failure operating conditions, and post-failure controller action.","PeriodicalId":413577,"journal":{"name":"2018 AEIT International Annual Conference","volume":"5 11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114098854","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
