The creation of mindfulness could be an effective approach in fighting self-stigmatization. This study aimed at evaluating the effect of mindfulness-based psycho-educational program on internalized stigma among psychiatric patients. A quasi-experimental research design (pre and post-test) was utilized in this study. 50 psychiatric inpatients at the New Minia Mental Health and Addiction Treatment Hospital were included. Internalized Stigma of Mental Illness Scale was used in the study. The study results revealed in a marked decrease in internalized stigma levels at post-test and follow-up test than at pre-test with highly statistically significant differences. The study concluded that mindfulness based-psycho-educational program was effective in reducing internalized stigma among psychiatric patients. Continuous provision of psycho-educational programs to increase patients’ awareness about the psychiatric disorders which help in reducing stigma was recommended.","PeriodicalId":413423,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Advanced Psychiatric Nursing","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127510960","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

At the same time every individual has his/her own internal demands. These inner and outer demands are stronger in college students. This is because college is a time of transition and transitions mostly are accompanied with changes. Thus college students need to meet successfully the inner and outer demands for the effective completion of their learning. Failure to do this will leave them to adjustment problems. If college students have adjustment problems, it directly and indirectly affects their academic performance. To deal with the adjustment problems students need to use the coping starategies. Coping means the cognitive and behavioral efforts to manage psychological stress. Coping is as the person’s constantly changing cognitive and behavioral efforts to manage specific external and/or internal demands that are appraised as taxing or excee ding the person’s resources. Therefore, according to this approach, coping refers only to adaptational activities that involve effort, and not all the things that a person does in relating to the environment. Globally, around one in seven adults are daily smokers and one in five adults consumes alcohol excessively at least once a month. Alcohol and drug abuse has been showing an increasing trend in India. Global states report on alcohol reported that annual prevalence of drinking among adult males in India is 21.4%. Report revealed that among the total drug uses alcohol (43%) was the most commonly used drug . The alcohol consumption have a greater impact on the disease burden than either behaviour alone and beyond health consequences, bring significant social and economic losses to public health, such as ill-health related costs. Psychological factors, such as stress and depression, have been identified for behaviour change interventions for smoking cessation and to reduce alcohol consumption. Self-esteem is another potentially important psychological factor in targeting addictive behaviours, though it has not been studied extensively in terms of its associations with alcohol consumption. Global self-esteem is defined as an interpretation of one’s self -worth and the beliefs and perceptions about oneself in a favourable or unfavourable way. It has been suggested as an important motivational factor to drive behaviour, as people with high self-esteem are likely to feel good about themselves and engage in behaviours that protect or improve their health and wellbeing, whereas low self-esteem has been shown to be positively associated with substance use.","PeriodicalId":413423,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Advanced Psychiatric Nursing","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133005355","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

But at the same time addiction towards its use have become a serious concern among them. Objective: The main objective of the study is to determine the prevalence of smartphone addiction among the nursing students. Further the study was done to find out the association between the smartphone addiction with sleep quality and some selected psychological problems, along with its association with selected demographic variables. Research Approach: A quantitative research approach was adopted in which cross sectional research design was used by the researcher and the samples were chosen by convenient sampling technique. The nursing underwent various scales to assess the relationship between smartphone addiction, sleep quality and psychological problems. Result: The researcher reported that almost 77 students (36 male and 41 female) found to be addicted with smartphone usage. Further on, a fair positive significant association (0.226) was obtained between smartphone addiction and sleep quality. The researcher identified and mention that fair positive relationship found between smartphone addiction and psychological problems such as depression, anxiety and stress at the p level <0.001. Conclusion: Thus, the analysis suggested that there is a need to develop counselling programs where experts can raise the awareness of university students, to understand the Pons and cons of smartphone usage.","PeriodicalId":413423,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Advanced Psychiatric Nursing","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115145597","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The prevalence of anxiety during the lifetime has been estimated to be about 29 per cent and the average age of its onset is 11 years. The COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on public mental health. Therefore, monitoring and oversight of the population mental health during crises such as a pandemic is an immediate priority. A pre-experimental research design was used to collect data from 100 School going children and their parent to assess the level of anxiety by using CAS scale in a village of Rohtas. The intervention was given to one experimental group with 14 days follow up. At the end of the 14 days follow-up period, the post test was done. The collected data was analyzed by using descriptive and inferential statistics. The hypothesis was tested at the 0.05 level of significance. SFBC was effective to reduce the anxiety level among school going children and their parent related to COVID-19 pandemic. The calculated ‘t’ value of school going children was 5.38 and their parent was 5.40 which is more than tabulated ‘t’ value 0.0001. “t” test and chi square test has been done for descriptive and inferential statistics. The result reveals that the Solution focused brief counselling was effective to reduce the level of anxiety.
