Así ocurrió con el cine a principios del siglo XX, cuando se hizo una encendida defensa de su uso en la enseñanza. El presente trabajo se propone estudiar aquel debate. Para ello se lleva a cabo un análisis historiográfico con el cual dar cuenta de una nada desdeñable literatura que, en forma de artículos en prensa especializada o informes de carácter académico, insistió en la necesidad de utilizar el potencial del cine al servicio de la instrucción, considerándolo, así, como una herramienta de gran utilidad para el progreso del país. Doing so has also implied having an influence in the political arena. Although, in some contexts, participation in the political arena of social workers is limited. Based on an analysis of the figure of Jane Addams, using a bibliographic analysis, this study shows the role that social work can play in changing policies and the importance of being coherent with personal values, as well as engaging in equal dialogue using human rights and social justice as a starting point. Jane Addams became a political entrepreneur in fields such as the struggle for women's rights, the rights of immigrants, the fight against child labor exploitation and the quest for peace. Concretamente, se ha llevado a cabo un estudio centrado en el Colegio Montesión de Palma a partir de la revista escolar que el mismo centro editaba. Los 53 ejemplares, sometidos a la rigurosa crítica que requiere el método histórico aplicado, ofrecen una ‹‹ventana›› mediante la que se puede observar el día a día de una escuela confesional en una época marcada por la controversia y caracterizada por una transición política, la cual estableció una nueva correlación de fuerzas y un marco normativo a estrenar. El análisis de los contenidos del boletín colegial deja entrever que las funciones acometidas por la publicación jesuita iban más allá de informar y entretener. La generación de capital social junto con la creación de una identidad colectiva entre los lectores (alumnos, exalumnos, familias, profesores, etc.) son algunos ejemplos de las intencionalidades implícitas perseguidas por la revista. Se ha realizado un análisis de la documentación, 6 entrevistas a personas que hicieron posible el viaje, 6 a profesionales y 2 familiares de Valencia que están transformando sus escuelas y 2 observaciones dialógicas. This document systematized the Jesuit way of understanding education in Early Modern Age. It organized the functions of each position in the school environment, as well as the methodology and content that had to be taught. The political powers, the social elites and the cultural environment of the cities were not strangers to its elaboration and implantation in all the Jesuit schools around the world. In the case of Spain, its elaboration generated a great social and political commotion, which even led the Inquisition to try to paralyze its definitive publication. What made this text produce so much controversy? What pedagogical innovations did it introduce in education? Why was the Ratio Studiorumpraised by Protestants and Calvinists? A traves de la metodologia del estudio de casos, utilizando el contexto del archipielago Canario, hemos identificado a los protagonistas, los procesos llevados a cabo, asi como que medios y estrategias fueron utilizados para alcanzar los objetivos propuestos. El fuerte arraigo de la colonia alemana asentada en las islas y su contexto, asi como los intereses geoestrategicos del territorio, son elementos claves para entender la pronto adhesion de la poblacion teutona a la causa nazi. Los resultados de la investigacion muestran una evidencia clara: los Deutsche Schulen sirvieron de lugar estrategico para la extension del nacionalsocialismo en la comunidad germana y local; el profesorado participo activamente en la extension de la ideologia de la Nueva Alemania, creando asociaciones como la Hitlerjugend o la Bund Deutscher Made, utilizando para ello diferentes medios de propaganda. Desde un marco metodologico de corte cualitativo, se ha utilizado el metodo historico-pedagogico y la tecnica de fichado para llevar a cabo un vaciado de diversas fuentes que ha permitido construir una imagen completa de la prensa pedagogica en Extremadura, desde sus inicios en 1858 hasta finales del siglo XX. Ello ha dado como resultado un conocimiento del numero, tipologia, distribucion, alcance, longevidad, agentes y fines de los diferentes periodicos, boletines y revistas; asi como un analisis de los factores de impacto educativo, cultural y social y las cotas de dependencia de la prensa con el contexto extremeno.  Se concluye que la prensa pedagogica sirvio de canal para hacer visible multiples demandas de actores educativos, de instrumento de renovacion pedagogica y de vehiculo de cohesion comunitaria. Nowadays, social initiatives and policies are greatly influenced by civil society activism against sexual slavery that emerged between the 19th and the early 20th century. This article presents an analysis and selection of historical landmarks from that period that achieved social and political impact in different countries such as the United States of America, the United Kingdom and Spain. To do so we followed different strategies including the review of scientific literature and relevant academic historical databases, the examination of theoretical contributions from intellectuals, social reformers and feminist activists from that time, and we also searched for international and national legislation from the early 20th century. Findings show a) the influence of the transatlantic anti-slavery movement in the rise of the feminist movement; b) the evolution of the civil society struggle against sexual exploitation within the feminist movement; c) the arrival of the anti-sex trafficking movement in Spain; d) the political impact of early civil society organizations against sex trafficking in the articulation of policies at the beginning of the 20th century. Para llevar a cabo la revision, se consulto las bases de datos Scielo, Dialnet y Redalyc de las que se escogieron articulos que abarcan un periodo temporal entre el 2008 y el 2018. Vanderstraeten","doi":"10.17583/hse.2020.4565","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.17583/hse.2020.4565","url":null,"abstract":"Over the last few decades, education has acquired a fairly robust social identity worldwide and participation in higher education has also become increasingly common. Building upon Luhmann’s theory of society, in this paper we analyze the expansion of higher education in Chile, specifically looking at the transformations the Chilean higher education system has undergone and the interactions between this system and its social environment. We will include statistics to clarify the extent of the changes to – and costs of – increasing inclusion. We will also focus on the ever-changing rationales for the expansion (or contraction) of higher education in Chile. Altogether, our analysis show not just how the Chilean system of higher education adapts to its social environment, but also how individuals and other function systems currently adapt to this system and how it is organized.
