The article examines widely used female names that functioned in Uzhgorod during the 20th century. Among the 81 onyms that were below the top ten for nine chronological sections, those that repeatedly changed their status during the studied period, moving into the group of the most used, widely used and rarely used, were selected. According to the periods of their functioning, in the central part of the female name vocabulary, cross-cutting, intermittent, temporary names are established. \u0000The purpose. The purpose of this analysis of the dynamics of widely used female names in Uzhhorod during the 20th century. The object of the research is proper female names that functioned in the statistical group of widely used ones for 100 years. The subject of the research is their dynamics over the course of a century. \u0000Materials and methods. Several methods of linguistic analysis were used in the research, in particular, the method of chronological sections, statistical method for counting the total number of female names, holistic analysis, determination of the most used, widely used names. The source base was the materials of the church metric books of Transcarpathia 1900-1945 and the books of the archival fund 1945-2000, which are stored in the state archive of the Transcarpathian region. \u0000Results. As a result of the research, it was established that the group of widely used female names of Uzhhorod residents in the 20th century got 81 names, or 12.1% of the total number of female names. The central part of the female names vocabulary of Uzhhorod served the largest percentage of carriers during the studied period – 48.2%, or 4073 newborns. \u0000Conclusions. A thorough analysis of the obtained responses helped to establish that among the widely used female names, the most numerous were onymas, which repeatedly changed their status during the 20th century, being in the group of widely used and rarely used female names. According to the periods of operation, the most discontinuous names were found, which went out of use for a while and returned to the female names vocabulary of Uzhhorod. 37 units, or 45.7% of the total number of all widely used names were recorded. Traces are observed in many layers – even in the field of onomastics and the patterns of naming. \u0000The purpose of the present paper is to establish the main principles of formation of Roman personal name system, its structure and development. \u0000Background and motivations. Most of the Latin names became extremely popular throughout the centuries due to the fact that they became canonized by the Church. As names of saints and martyrs and because of Christianity gaining popularity as a religion a lot of onyms, part of the Roman personal name system, enter other anthroponymicons. But being foreign their meaning in most of the cases remains unclear to the common people even today. \u0000Methodology. {"title":"FEATURES OF THE CREATION OF SURNAMES DERIVED FROM THE SURNAME ZОRYA AND THEIR TERRITORIAL DISTRIBUTION","authors":"Yu. F. The article emphasizes that the study of surnames in general and surname microsystems in particular is one of the urgent problems of modern Ukrainian onomastic science, which has important theoretical and practical significance not only for linguistics, but also for history, geography, ethnology. \u0000The purpose. The purpose of the article is to investigate the place of the microsystem of surnames derived from the surname Zorya, to describe the methods of their creation, to distinguish the affixes with the help of which the surnames of this microsystem were formed, and their territorial distribution. \u0000Materials and methods. In accordance with the purpose of the research, the descriptive method and its main techniques were used as the main one: inventory and systematization of language material in synchrony. The source of the actual material was the materials of the \"Relatives\" website, which records 876,000 surnames of residents of Ukraine, of which only 106 surnames are formed from the surname Zorya. \u0000Results. As a result of the investigation, the peculiarities of the creation of surnames derived from the surname Zorya, as well as their prevalence in the territory of Ukraine, were established. It is noted that this microsystem, although relatively small, is quite diverse in terms of methods and means of creation. \u0000Сonclusions. Summarizing the above, we confirm that the most common surname of the studied microsystem is the surname Zorina (2,376 speakers), which occupies 1,851 places in the general list of residents of Ukraine, and every third surname is represented by only one speaker. \u0000The most common way of creating surnames derived from the surname Zorya is suffixation (53 surnames). The suffixes -ov (8 cases), -enk-, -ev(-ев, -ев), -к- (5 cases each) are most often used to create new surnames. 31 surnames were formed in the inflectional way, among them 26 female surnames derived from male bases. The present text is analyzing parts of the Latin treaty dedicated to the healing nature of plants. The text Medicinae ex Holeribus et Pomis by Gargillius Martialis is a compilation of names of plants and their effects on human body. We could try to identify a relation between the plant’s name and its use regarding the disease in relation with its qualities. The treaty occupies an important place in the medial ancient literature as it gives a picture for the knowledge of herbs and their classification as mediations.\u0000Purpose. The text aims to discuss some plants names used in the treaty for depicting their characteristics and qualities and how they could serve for healing a certain disease. \u0000Materials and methodology. The descriptive method is used in comparison with translation of the names in modern English. Citations from the original text are inserted in Latin to illustrate the what characteristics are typical for to each plant and what are the effects provoked in the body.\u0000Results. Latin names of plants refer to modern names that predominantly originate of Latin or Greek. The fact is that these plants are still popular and the relation of their medical use in the past and modern studies about them reveals the historical developments of classification and use.\u0000Conclusions. The text of Gargilius Martialis is witnessing some very important things about names of plants, theirs cultivation and use. The dataset on which we base our investigation is drafted from the 2021 free associative experiment. The experiment was conducted in Odesa I. I. Mechnikov University with 100 participants. Here we investigated correlations between associations and stimuli, taking onymic reactions into particular focus. In this paper we present the entries  compiled in the following way: from associations to their stimuli, listed in alphabetical order. The current study found that onymic reactions cover all the onomastic terminological sphere, our findings include all the main classes of proper names: anthroponyms, toponyms, ethnonyms, theonyms, ideonyms, zoonyms, chrematonyms, chrononyms, ergonyms, phytonyms, cosmonyms. We conclude that the reverse onymic associative dictionary is one of the potent methodological instruments for onomastic studies. The article analyzes the surnames of Odesa formed from profession names. A thematic classification was made and 18 groups were selected. The word-forming features of the surnames in the Odesa region were considered. The relevance of the study is determined by: the almost complete absence in modern onomastics of regional studies of onyms formed from the names of professions; the importance of identifying the specificity of the functioning of onyms formed from profession names in Odesa and the influence of social processes on this specificity; the social and practical significance of the problems of nomination and the growing interest of the population in the issues of onomastics. \u0000The purpose of the study is to identify the structure, formation and distribution of onyms motivated by profession names and to determine the sociocultural components of anthroponyms related to professional activity. The subject of the research is the structural, semantic and functional features of onyms motivated by the names of professions. The object of the research is surnames formed from the names of professions. \u0000Materials and methods. As the main method for collecting and systematizing the material, the descriptive method was used. When comparing the regional characteristics of surnames formed from profession names, the comparative and comparative-historical methods were used extensively. The material of the research were the surnames found in printed and electronic telephone directories, as well as minutes books of the departments of the RAC. A total of 1,850 names were analyzed. \u0000Results. In conclusion, the analysis of the surnames in Odesa formed from profession names proves the high level of relevance of appellative vocabulary in the processes of their creation, establishes the reasons for the dominance of certain thematic groups of surnames. \u0000Сonclusions. The most numerous is the group of surnames formed from the names of craftsmen, and significantly fewer surnames were formed from the names of administrative positions and titles, from the names of church ministers, military affairs, trade, food industry, education and art. The motivation of their creative foundations (group names of residents) and derived from anthroponyms (not preserved in Ukrainian names) were interesting for analysis. An etymological interpretation of the corresponding personal names is offered: *Velboroda, *Volodra, *Molomola ‹ *Malomola, *Mozgota, *Putra(ya) ‹ *Potra(ya), *Servata. \u0000Purpose. This paper intends to describe the primary (historical) forms of oikonyms Verborodyntsi, Voludryntsi, Molomolyntsi, Mushkutyntsi, Putryntsi, Syrvatyntsi. The study is an attempt to carry out their word-formation analysis and present the etymological analysis of the anthroponyms created for the corresponding oikonymos, and find out the motivation of their appellative semantics. \u0000Object of study. The author described the Khmelnychchyna’s oikonyms with the formant -yn-tsi:Verborodyntsi, Voludryntsi, Molomolyntsi, Mushkutyntsi, Putryntsi, Syrvatyntsi. The subject of the analysis is the word-forming characteristics these oikonyms, etymological (derivative and semantic) analysis of the creative anthroponyms *Velboroda, *Volodra, *Molomola ‹ *Malomola, *Mozgota, *Putra(ya) ‹ *Potra(ya), *Servata. \u0000Research methods. In the analysis of oikonyms, the author used a descriptive method, with which he characterizes the word-forming structure of names Verborodyntsi, Voludryntsi, Molomolyntsi, Mushkutyntsi, Putryntsi, Syrvatyntsi. The article also uses the technique of etymological analysis – etymons of creative anthroponyms are established*Velboroda, *Volodra, *Molomola ‹ *Malomola, *Mozgota, *Putra(ya) ‹ *Potra(ya), *Servata. \u0000Research results. The article defines possessives with the suffix -уn, basic for group names of residents, creative for oikonyms Verborodyntsi, Voludryntsi, Molomolyntsi, Mushkutyntsi, Putryntsi, Syrvatyntsi. He restored the anthroponyms created for them *Velboroda, *Volodra, *Molomola ‹ *Malomola, *Mozgota, *Putra(ya) ‹ *Potra(ya), *Servata. The etymological forms for the specified personal names were established. The motivation behind the semantics of their foundations was clarified. \u0000Conclusions. The author explained the original (phonetic) forms Velborodyntsi, Volodryntsi, Mozhotуntsi, Servatуntsi based on the analysis of the historical forms of the oikonyms Verborodyntsi, Voludryntsi, Mushkutyntsi, Putryntsi, Syrvatyntsi. The name Putryntsi did not undergo structural changes during its functioning. The creative anthroponyms *Velboroda, *Volodra, *Molomola ‹ *Malomola, *Mozgota, *Putra(ya) ‹ *Potra(ya), *Servata were mostly formed on local Ukrainian soil as nicknames (*Velboroda, *Volodra, *Molomola ‹ * Malomola, *Mozgota, *Putra(ya) ‹ Potra(ya)) and only the name *Servata was formed as a folk variant before the Christian Servatius. We investigate proper names as the part of the structure of advertising texts of veterinary pharmaceuticals. \u0000The purpose of the article is the analysis of anthroponyms in advertising texts of veterinary pharmaceuticals. The object of the study is proper names in advertising texts of veterinary pharmaceuticals. The subject of the study is anthroponyms in advertising texts in the beginning of the 20th century. \u0000Materials and methods. The purpose determines the choice of methods in our study: general scientific methods of systematization, analysis and synthesis, quantitative analysis were used. The descriptive method of advertising texts is used in the work. Among the special linguistic methods, structural one was used, which helped in determining the features of the structure of anthroponyms. Anthroponyms for our research have been taken from the newspaper “Public Veterinary Bulletin” for the period of 1904-1906 years. \u0000Results. As a result of the study, structural and semantic features of anthroponyms were established. \u0000Сonclusions. Anthroponyms learned in advertising texts of veterinary pharmaceuticals in the beginning of the 20th century had been used almost in all analyzed texts. The practical value of the work lies in the fact that the analysis of anthroponyms in advertising texts opens up prospects for further researches, which may be connected with the identification of the specific characteristics of proper names in the advertising texts of veterinary pharmaceuticals in different languages. {"title":"COSMONYMY IN THE OSTROH BIBLE AND ITS UKRAINIAN TRANSLATION","authors":"L. Fomina","doi":"10.18524/2410-3373.2021.24.248323","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.18524/2410-3373.2021.24.248323","url":null,"abstract":"The article explores the names of the astronomic objects, used by the scientists, who translated and edited the Ostroh Bible of 1580/1581, and those equivalents, which were represented by the translator of the Ostroh Bible to Ukrainian, Father Raphael (Roman Turkonyak). The article consists of the introduction, where the history of cosmonymy studies in Slavic and non-Slavic linguistic literature is discussed, and five sections, devoted to the history of the Ostroh Bible’s creation, to the separate names (dennitsa, mazurot, vlasozhelische, kruzhiliye); the article is completed by the conclusions. The aim of the article is the search of the primary nominations, to which the Ostroh Bible cosmonyms refer, the study of the ways of their translation by the ancient Slavic translators and the representation of the equivalents in the latest Ukrainian translation by the archimandrite, Father Raphael. \u0000The main methods of research are historical-comparative and comparative-historical. The result of the research: astronominations of the Ostroh Bible are rooted in the translations by the first teachers of the Slavs, brothers Cyril and Methodius, or the translators from their close circle. \u0000Conclusions \u0000 Cosmonymy as onomastic discipline has not been sufficiently elaborated and needs the theoretical conceptualization in the context of the achievements in the modern linguistics. Not enough attention is paid to the study of astronominations in the Biblical codes in different languages. The hypothesis has been proved that cosmonyms vlasozhelischi and kruzhiliye in the Ostroh Bible are the semantic hebraisms, and that the name vlasozhelischi is a modification of the combination of two lexical units: vlasy “Pleiads” and *zhelischi – nominations of the Great Bear with conveying the Judaic perspective of the constellation as a funeral procession. The Ukrainian translator uses the wide spectrum of names: Greek Pleiads, Orion, Espera “night Venus”, Slavism dennitsa, Hebraism mazurot, and word combinations rannya zorya, rannya zvizda, vechirnya zorya. This method of term formation continues to be employed even nowadays and its main advantage is that it facilitates remembering the condition. \u0000The purpose of the present paper is to establish the main principles of formation of eponyms and to compare them within the Bulgarian, English and Latin terminology. Another comparison which is intended is the use of eponyms in clinical medicine and clinical paediatric dental medicine. \u0000Background and motivations. The purpose of eponyms is to name diseases and conditions and to facilitate remembering. However, there are underlying principles of term formation and usage in the different fields of medicine which need to be clarified and traced. \u0000Methodology. The  main   methods   used   are   lexicographical   excerption   and comparative analysis.
