Due to this, postponement and cancellation of multiple annual big sports events have been announced, giving way to new digital alternatives that follow government isolation provisions. eSports has shown to be a rapidly evolving alternative to maintain the sportsmanship and passion that sports bring to the general population. In Costa Rica, like everywhere else, this sport has seen accelerated growth with a high rate of evolution. In this regard, the country faces significant challenges to promote future eSports events, professional development, and the creation of an organizational structure for its optimal practice. This paper aims to analyze how the global pandemic exposes the need to direct the attention to digital sports alternatives such as eSport and the future challenges that Costa Rica will face to develop it in an effective and efficient way.","PeriodicalId":40746,"journal":{"name":"Pensar en Movimiento-Revista de Ciencias del Ejercicio y la Salud","volume":"60 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.3,"publicationDate":"2020-10-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"84720296","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Specifically, running is a highly studied activity due to the high joint and muscular impact it generates in those who practice, commonly causing injuries and alterations in the performance of athletes. Locomotion generates different physiological and mechanical challenges. This article seeks to clarify concepts mentioned in classic texts, which are basic and important to understand the research that followed. It also tries to explain different parameters that help to understand locomotion, contrasting with studies in humans and animals. The objective of this work is to review the literature, which focuses on the mechanical and energetic aspects of locomotion, the effect of size and different patterns of locomotion, with their mechanical models.","PeriodicalId":40746,"journal":{"name":"Pensar en Movimiento-Revista de Ciencias del Ejercicio y la Salud","volume":"5 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.3,"publicationDate":"2020-09-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89253953","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The joint position might generate modifications in muscular recruitment, therefore the objective of this study was to verify if the feet positions variations during knee extension, are efficient for the specific selection of the rectus femoris, vastus lateralis and vastus medialis muscles, that compose the FQ. Eleven female college students (age 22,36 ± 3,56 years old) participated in the study. The muscles activation was evaluated through surface electromyography, with bipolar configuration, in 3 series of 10 maximum repetition (MR) of bilateral knee extension, in three feet positions: neutral position, internal rotation and external rotation. The results do not indicate significant differences among the superficial FQ muscles in all feet positions. In conclusion, the results of the present study suggest that the variations in degrees of feet rotation during knee extension are not efficient for the specific selection of the muscles that compose the FQ.","PeriodicalId":40746,"journal":{"name":"Pensar en Movimiento-Revista de Ciencias del Ejercicio y la Salud","volume":"8 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.3,"publicationDate":"2020-09-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87521098","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To reverse prediabetes and prevent type 2 diabetes there is a multidisciplinary treatment that includes lifestyle improvement, healthy diet and exercise. The aim of this systematic review was to study about the best exercise alternatives to prediabetes remission between continuous aerobic training (CAT), resistance training (RT) and high intensity interval training (HIIT). Web of Science, PubMed, Scopus and SportDiscus were searched during May 2019, experimental and preexperimental studies with prediabetes participants doing any of these types of training and with anthropometric and/or biochemical outcomes were included. The search had a total of 231 records and 11 of them met the inclusion criteria. Results showed that CAT, RT and HIIT made a similar improvement in prediabetes metabolic and anthropometric measures in trials from 13 days to 16 weeks with a frequency from 2 to 5 times/week, some of the studies didn’t find any differences, there are many different protocols implemented through the studies and this could have caused a high risk of bias. It is recommended to future trials study the glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c) with a minimum of 12 weeks of intervention to reduce the risk of bias.","PeriodicalId":40746,"journal":{"name":"Pensar en Movimiento-Revista de Ciencias del Ejercicio y la Salud","volume":"34 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.3,"publicationDate":"2020-07-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"77772009","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Los objetivos de este estudio son: a) determinar el efecto agudo de los tipos de entrenamiento de Fuerza, Velocidad, Pliometría y Velocidad contra Resistencia en la carrera de velocidad y sus fases, y b) realizar el análisis del efecto agudo de estos tipos de entrenamiento de manera individual. Once velocistas (edad promedio de 21.8 años 3.04, talla de 1.764m 0.062 y peso de 69.645kg 4.946), con experiencia como velocistas realizaron cinco tratamientos agudos (F, V, P, VR y control), para los cuales se aleatorizó el orden. Para cada tratamiento, realizaron un pre test y un pos test de 100 metros con mediciones de intervalos cada 20 metros. Se realizaron 2 análisis de varianza (ANOVA) de medidas repetidas de 2 y 3 vías, con el objetivo de analizar el efecto de los tratamientos en el tiempo total de carrera y en cada uno de los intervalos de la carrera de velocidad respectivamente. También, se realizó un análisis individual, utilizando estadísticos descriptivos y gráficos. No hubo interacción significativa entre las mediciones y los tipos de entrenamiento (F = 1.733 p = 0.162), ni entre las mediciones, los tipos de entrenamiento y los intervalos de distancia (F = 0.569 p = 0.903). En el análisis individual, se observa como los cambios en la velocidad según el tipo de tratamiento varían entre sujetos, siendo el tratamiento de velocidad con el que más sujetos mejoran.","PeriodicalId":40746,"journal":{"name":"Pensar en Movimiento-Revista de Ciencias del Ejercicio y la Salud","volume":"2 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.3,"publicationDate":"2020-07-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82560559","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
