The experimental class and the control class, which had similar mastery level of English prepositions of locality according to pre-test, were consistent in teaching materials, class hours, teachers and teaching schedule. But the experimental class was taught in the instruction of conceptual metaphor theory while the control class was taught by rote. After the experiment, the two classes were tested on the cognitive level of prepositions of locality and were retested one month later. The results demonstrated: (1) The questionnaire results showed that students’ semantic understanding of prepositions of locality up/down confined to spatial meaning while failed to master the abstract extended meaning. In addition, most of them hold a positive attitude towards the conceptual metaphor instruction for prepositions of locality but know little about it. (2) Pre-test and post-test data demonstrated that the mastery of prepositions of locality of the experimental class’ students (average score 90.7196), were far better than that of control class’s students (average score 76.4879) (P =0.0342<0.05). (3) In the re-test, students’ grades of the experimental class (decrease 2.7184) and those of the control class (decrease 15.8899) were further enlarged (p=0.0078<0.05), which showed the conceptual metaphor instruction for prepositions of locality can obviously promote students’ understanding and mastery the semantic extension of prepositions of locality as well as students’ long-term memory.","PeriodicalId":406144,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2020 4th International Conference on Education and E-Learning","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130280747","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This utilizes Electronic learning (E-learning) and many high institutions applied the E-learning system in their education scheme, but the level usage of e-learning is relatively low because of the lack of intention from lecturers as the user. This paper analyzed the factors that influence continuous intention in using e-learning with combined models; TAM (Technology Acceptance Model), TPB (Theory of Planned Behavior), ECM (Expectation Confirmation Model), and Flow Theory, and the results are continuance intention was associated with attitude, perceived enjoyment, perceived usefulness, satisfaction, confirmation, and perceived ease of use. Based on these factors, the researchers created and prioritized the strategies using Quality Function Deployment and concluded the improvements to increase the intention are training e-learning systems to users, add new interactive features, and enhancement in the e-learning interface.","PeriodicalId":406144,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2020 4th International Conference on Education and E-Learning","volume":"455 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131856754","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, few related research reports on its effectiveness have been carried out. Therefore, this thesis, based on the previous studies on interdisciplinary education, invites total 143 senior students from Department of Design, Department of Materials Engineering, and Department of Electrical Engineering in an University from Taiwan as volunteer participants, and conducts a study by using “Core Competence in Interdisciplinary Integration Scale” to measure and compare the participants’ interdisciplinary skills. The results have demonstrated that the thematic capstone courses integrated with interdisciplinary education implies positive impacts on students’ acquisition of core competence in interdisciplinary integration. Meanwhile, the study result shows that, compared with students from Department of Materials Engineering and Department of Electrical Engineering, those from Department of Design present better performance in terms of their core competence in interdisciplinary integration, including the capacity of communication, reflection, and practice. As further research goes, this thesis will prove that the reason lies in the fact that Department of Design highlights the importance of core competence in interdisciplinary integration and the implementation of the interdisciplinary thematic integrated courses offered from the junior grade to the senior year. Finally, this research will demonstrate on this basis that interdisciplinary education should be a continuous process with exact stages for university education. Its implementation will boast better outcomes if it is carried out from the junior grade and different goals and connotations are required in different stages. With such a conclusion, this thesis provides a reference for the cultivation model of interdisciplinary integration ability and innovation ability in university, so as to prepare contemporary university students for global challenges and opportunities.","PeriodicalId":406144,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2020 4th International Conference on Education and E-Learning","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128553626","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The NET feedback included video feedback and e-written feedback. A total of 43 EFL students volunteered to participate in this study. They completed two collaborative essays in the international EFL writing project in the COVID-19 emergency remote teaching semester. Students’ final reflections on the NET feedback were analyzed using content analysis to obtain the results. The findings showed that both video and e-written feedback was beneficial for all the participants in their essay writing improvement. The students in the video feedback group reported that their Chinglish expressions, lack of reading authentic materials, and run-on sentences were top 3 concerns in the NET feedback. The students in the e-written feedback group reported that grammar error, run-on sentences, and improving academic writing were top 3 concerns in the NET feedback. These findings help language teachers understand different feedback designs and consider the pros and cons of different feedback modes. The pedagogical implications of using formative feedback during the writing process in EFL teaching are provided.","PeriodicalId":406144,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2020 4th International Conference on Education and E-Learning","volume":"90 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124999120","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
