The system builder simply constructs the meta-interface (MI) specification, which is made up of icons selected from the icon library. With the MI, the EOD-ISD generator uses the enterprise ontology as the master and basis to automatically generate the target system. The enterprise ontology is a form of consensus-certified collective human intelligence with explicit semantics. In the context of our research the enterprise ontology is locally owned by the establishment that has isolated the desired subset from the global ontology of the relevant knowledge domain (e.g. Traditional Chinese Medicine). From the enterprise ontology, which serves as the standard vocabulary for the establishment, different local systems can be customized anytime and anywhere simply with the MI specifications provided. The EOD-ISD approach was verified successfully with different TCM telemedicine diagnostic/prescription (D/P) system prototypes, customized from the proprietary enterprise TCM ontology core (TCM onto-core) of the Nong's Company Ltd.","PeriodicalId":405687,"journal":{"name":"2009 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-02-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126096966","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper applies ANN based predictive and adaptive reference generation technique. Predictive scheme extracts the information of the fundamental component through an ANN that replaces a low pass filter. This ANN based low pass-filter is trained offline with large number of training set to predict the fundamental magnitude of load current. This predictive reference generation technique works well for clean source voltage. However, the performance deteriorates in case of distortion in source voltage and also with noise. To overcome this, an Adaline based ANN is applied after the operation of the predictive algorithm. It has been shown that the combined predictive-adaptive approach offers better performance. Simulation results and experimental results are presented to confirm the usefulness of the proposed technique..","PeriodicalId":405687,"journal":{"name":"2009 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology","volume":"56 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-02-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128138899","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The gains of the PI control was determined by TAE(Trial And Error) method. The membership functions of the fuzzy PD controller were determined base on the control performance of the PI control and its result is compared to the PI control. This paper is a comparative study of the PI control and fuzzy PD control. The robot and motion controllers were designed and made by authors. The good control performance of the heavy duty robot was obtained by using simple control algorithm. This means that the robot was designed very well in control respect.","PeriodicalId":405687,"journal":{"name":"2009 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology","volume":"11 Suppl 8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-02-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127203491","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The predictive algorithm is implemented on a FPGA platform, using a state machine and taking advantages of the parallel processing provided by these devices. The next step model calculations and cost function evaluation required by the predictive controller are executed, for all the possible witching states, in only one clock cycle each one. The optimization procedure is implemented using a three step algorithm based on successive comparisons. Using these approaches, the execution time is drastically improved compared to a sequential predictive algorithm implementation. Simulations results using a current control of an active front end rectifier shows that the algorithm performs a very small execution time. Therefore, it is possible to increase the sampling frequency, improving the harmonic content of the input currents.","PeriodicalId":405687,"journal":{"name":"2009 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-02-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121528312","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To investigate this issue, this paper focuses on the optimal operation of a PV-based multi-source system and energy management. It is composed of two principal mechanisms of control: anticipation and reactive management. The anticipation, based on forecast information concerning load, electric prices, and meteorological conditions calculates an optimum planning for the allocation of the sources and the load rescheduling to satisfy the demand of user and also to minimize the energy cost. The reactive management procedure aims to realize the calculated plan and to take the appropriate correcting actions to handle possible unpredicted disturbances. The problems are formulated by using the Mix Integer Linear Programming (MILP) algorithm, considering various constraints. An example is given to illustrate the solution approach.","PeriodicalId":405687,"journal":{"name":"2009 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-02-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130918674","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, the rotor friction loss for a high speed permanent magnet machine with rated speed of 60000rpm was studied theoretically and experimentally. The experimental friction losses were obtained by loss separation based on the tested total losses of the machine for different rotor speeds. Although the educational program is totally based on PBL, this curriculum is comprised of two types of study units. Some study units are based on a combination of lectures, tutorials and problem based learning techniques. Others are fully based on PBL. As an example of a fully PBL study unit, a course in power system analysis has been developed. For delivering the course in PBL, a power system laboratory has been established, which gives students access to professional software packages. Real-world industry-relevant projects are defined in the areas of power system operation and planning. These projects are used as stimuli for student learning. Portfolio assessment is used to assess students learning outcome. The first delivery of the course has been successful with positive feedback from students.","PeriodicalId":405687,"journal":{"name":"2009 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-02-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132320286","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
