It uses Arduino Uno microcontroller to control the movement of the robot. The robot has the ability to mimic the locomotory motion of the human leg and consequently it is named as \"shadow bot\". The circuit consist of a transmitter section and a receiver section; the TX part couples IR sensor and Accelerometer motion sensor together and is fixed onto a human leg, while the RX part consist of servo motors and microcontroller unit and 434 MHz ASK receiver that forms a part of the Robot circuitry. The Arduino ATmega 2560 based microcontroller is used in both the receiver and transmitter. Motion of the robot is controlled by sending PWM signal pulses to the corresponding servo motors; a total of 6 servo motors have been utilized as a remedy for solving the mechanical aspects of the shadow bot. The capability of the present robot can be extended by adding features that may be able to perform realtime such as agriculture, military operations; mechanical hands for performing heavy task, advanced signal processing can be done by fitting a camera on top of it.","PeriodicalId":403256,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Recent Developments in Control, Automation and Power Engineering (RDCAPE)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123102015","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

They may involve taking readings from an active volcano, entering a building on fire, diffusing a bomb, or collecting a radioactive sample. Rather than compromising on human lives, it is better to employ robotic systems for performing difficult tasks. Robotic systems are far superior in ensuring the accuracy of the system under adverse circumstances wherein a human operator may lose his/her composure and focus. Here we propose to build a robotic arm controlled by natural human arm movements whose data is acquired through the use of potentiometers mounted at the joints on a human arm. The development of this arm is based on Arduino platform.","PeriodicalId":403256,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Recent Developments in Control, Automation and Power Engineering (RDCAPE)","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122541262","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A simple transmission line model is used to determine the two transmission zeros for the two hairpin resonator structure. The locations of transmission zeros are at the fundamental and higher mode resonances. The analysis is done through MATLAB and the equivalent circuits have also been verified. The dual-band bandpass filters with the bandwidths of 50MHz and 100 MHz have been designed with centre frequencies of 5.7 GHz and 6.9 GHz respectively. The filter shows different bandwidth for different lengths with the same coupling gap. More bandwidth is available for high insertion loss and vice-versa. Also, this filter with compact size shows a sharp pass band and lower insertion loss due to less number of coupling gaps. To obtain high selectivity of the filter, cascading structure of the filter can also be further developed.","PeriodicalId":403256,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Recent Developments in Control, Automation and Power Engineering (RDCAPE)","volume":"125 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128159314","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the industrial application a large rating of induction motors are used which produce a significant heat. The heat is produced in the motor due to the different types of losses inside the motor. Hence, a proper cooling system is required to dissipate the heat and keep motor temperature within limits. This paper deals with the problem occurred in the cooling system under different operating conditions and analyze them. The on-line information is gathered from the machine about temperature, current and vibration signatures at different operating condition and the condition of the cooling system is monitored. Soft computing techniques are utilized for this purpose.","PeriodicalId":403256,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Recent Developments in Control, Automation and Power Engineering (RDCAPE)","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133788084","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These loads can be broadly classified as sensitive loads and non-sensitive loads. The sensitive loads are easily affected with power quality problems. Hence, power quality improvement is major concern in the distributed system. The power quality problems that are faced in the distribution side are voltage sag/swell, harmonics, flickering, distortions etc. One of the major power quality issue that is considered in this paper is voltage sag/swell. To handle these power quality issue Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS) devices are considered. One of the FACTS device at the distribution side called Interline Dynamic Voltage Restorer (IDVR) is proposed to mitigate the voltage sag/swell. The building blocks of IDVR used for injecting the voltage can either be voltage source inverter (VSI) or current source inverter (CSI). In this paper, IDVR with two CSI as its building blocks is considered to mitigate voltage sag/swell. PV source is used at the DC link of IDVR to provide the necessary energy to mitigate sag/swell. The simulations are performed in MATLAB environment.","PeriodicalId":403256,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Recent Developments in Control, Automation and Power Engineering (RDCAPE)","volume":"352 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134544850","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we derived the linearized model of the original nonlinear system in non-coordinate standard form considering proper initial conditions and equilibrium point. Large deviations in pressure can cause severe membrane damage in the fuel cell. Conventional Proportional-Integralderivative (PID) controllers are used to regulate the pressure change of hydrogen and oxygen at the desired value despite of changes in the fuel cell current. As the equilibrium point at steady state becomes unique, Jacobian linearization of the original system has been done and the state space matrices of the linearized system were found using MATLAB Symbolic ToolBox. The linearized system is asymptotically stable as well as controllable and observable. During the control design, hydrogen and oxygen partial flow rates are defined as the control variables and the hydrogen and oxygen pressure difference are taken as the control objectives. The simulation result shows that the linearized PEMFC model with conventional PID controller where the controller parameters are tuned using Zeigler-Nichols (Z-N) having acceptable control performance.","PeriodicalId":403256,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Recent Developments in Control, Automation and Power Engineering (RDCAPE)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122375477","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The problem is further compounded in large systems with analytically inexpressible parametric dependencies wherein the large scale itself may need to be generated repetitively making design cycles almost unachievable in real time. For such systems, Matrix Interpolatory parametric reduction framework is used in which the reduced model corresponding to a specific parameter value is obtained by interpolating the matrices of reduced models obtained via direct reduction at suitable points in the parametric space. However, one of the main issues in this approach is the efficient sampling of the parametric space. In this work, this issue is taken up and a measure based on subspace angles is proposed for efficient and adaptive sampling of the parameter space. Numerical results are shown for a benchmark model.","PeriodicalId":403256,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Recent Developments in Control, Automation and Power Engineering (RDCAPE)","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124242019","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The abnormalities in the distribution system has been modeled and analyzed. The deviation so computed has been compensated by use of the D-STATCOM in the real time. A detailed model of 3-phase D-STATCOM for line voltage up to 11kV has been developed using cascaded multilevel voltage source converter structure (VSCs). A level shift PWM control has been developed for the multilevel inverter for the medium voltage distribution system. The scheme has been replaced for the control of the D-STATCOM so that it maintains the reactive power and THD under control by keeping all the voltage and current waveforms as per their standard sinusoidal forms. A SIMULINK model using MATLAB/SIMULINK platform has been used to present the proposed system. Simulation result for different operating condition has been obtained and analyzed for viewing the merit of the proposed control technique. The obtained results corroborate the effectiveness of control scheme.","PeriodicalId":403256,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Recent Developments in Control, Automation and Power Engineering (RDCAPE)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116110259","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It becomes the third core energy resource following non conventional fuels as oil and chemical. Electrical energy generated by wind power plants is the fastest developing and most promising renewable energy source. The wind is a clean, free and inexhaustible energy source. The origin of wind is simple. Wind turbines are classified into two types as fixed speed and variable speed wind turbine. A variable speed wind turbine provides more energy than the fixed speed wind turbines, reduce power fluctuations and improve reactive power supply. Basically direct drive PMSG (Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator) and DFIG (Double Fed Induction Generator) are used in variable speed wind turbine generator. In this paper, the Matlab simulations of a Wind Energy Conversion System with PMSG and variable-speed wind turbine have been discussed.","PeriodicalId":403256,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Recent Developments in Control, Automation and Power Engineering (RDCAPE)","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116169371","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The presented work has been simulated in MATLAB and verified that the step size parameter plays a vital role for implementation of Least Mean Square (LMS) algorithm. Increasing the step size parameter μ leads to fast convergence rate and instability of the least mean square algorithm. On the other side if the step size parameter μ is small then the error reduced to great amount but algorithm converges slowly and becomes stable. On the basis of obtained results we can conclude that step size parameter μ is directly proportional to convergence rate and error reduction and inversely proportional to stability. The work presented here also shown the comparison of actual weights and the estimated weights.","PeriodicalId":403256,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Recent Developments in Control, Automation and Power Engineering (RDCAPE)","volume":"130 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121526592","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
