FACTS controllers are capable of controlling power flows, reactive power, damping of power system oscillations, transmission voltage and enhancing the usable capacity of existing transmission lines. It can control the power flow by means of controlling impedance, phase angle or series injection of appropriate voltage. Distance relays are widely used as main and back-up protection for transmission lines and are based on the electrical measure of distance along a transmission line to a fault. Its operation is dependent on the ratio of voltage and current, which is expressed as impedance seen by the relay. These series connected FACTS devices inject a series voltage with the line and change the line impedance. Hence, determining the boundaries of operation of a distance relay, in the presence of FACTS controllers, is a challenging task. Besides greener transportation, EV can also be used to negotiate electricity utility costs imposed by several network constraints like load-demand balance, reliability criteria etc. Thriving on reliability assurance in modernized electric grids, a multi-beneficiary model exploiting EV capability of being a contingency reserve is developed in this paper. Additionally, variability of EV reserve procurement in conjunction with environmental constraints is examined through cost-emission analysis. Further, the threshold limit for economic and environmental balance is defined and evaluated. The proposed reserve procurement concept is then simulated on a test system with both conventional and renewable energy technologies (RETs). For enumerating cost emission analysis, various dispatch scenarios are put forward. The simulation results shows the potential of EV in both environmental and economic perspectives when participated in reserve market. It is also observed that, apart from cost and emission, technical performance of electric network is also altered. Also, the amount of RETs and EV procured by independent system operator (ISO) is influenced by the importance (weight factor) given to emission minimization objective. Stability period refers to the time interval of the network before the death of the first node which is very vital in lots of applications of Wireless Sensor Network where there is need of reliable feedback from the network for a long time. In LEACH, the cluster-head are randomly selected among the sensor nodes by probabilistic rule in each round so that optimal number of cluster-heads and uniform distribution over the region cannot be guaranteed. My proposed protocol Sector Based Clustering Hierarchy (SBCH) Protocol improves the selection of cluster-heads by electing optimal number of cluster-heads in each round and distributing the cluster-heads uniformly over the region. SBCH divides the network field into the sectors of equal area i.e. static clusters that are equal to the optimal number of cluster-heads and then cluster-heads are selected from each sector which ensures the optimal number of cluster-heads are elected in each round and distribution of cluster-heads uniformly over the whole region of network field. In this way SBCH conserves the network energy much better than LEACH which results in better stability period. Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator (PMSG) is one of the kinds which are widely used for variable speed and direct driven wind power generating. In order to predict the amount of power that can be extracted by the wind turbine in a concerned area the knowledge of wind speed pattern for that particular location is required. In this paper a case study is selected to study the wind pattern and investigate the performance of the PMSG based wind power generation system for fixed speed and variable speed conditions. Wind power generation system simulated using MATLAB / Simulink consisting of wind turbine, PMSG, diode rectifier, Maximum Power Point tracking (MPPT) controlled boost converter, and DC load is considered. The Hill Climbing Search (HCS) algorithm is implemented using Fuzzy Logic Controller (FLC) for MPPT. However it suffers from a poor efficiency. Lot of hydro potential in canal and rivers exists in India where Savonius type rotor as hydrokinetic turbine may be used. In order to minimize the static torque deviation and to enhance the performance of Savonius Rotor, continual efforts were made to improve the geometry of its blade profiles. Under various studies, Savonius turbine blade profiles were investigated by modifying the shape of the blade and by designing new shapes of blades. This paper presents an overview of Savonius turbine blade profile designs and performance of different blade profiles investigated under the various studies. As per the twist angle, helical rotor with α = 180° is found as the best in terms of coefficient of power. This system is installed near the end of runways. Energy Absorbing System (EAS) is one of the important subsystems of AABS. There is no control on energy absorption during operation of an aircraft emergency arrestment in conventional EAS. It is highly nonlinear in nature and these are installed as per the capacity of the aircraft. To overcome this problem, we may use the eddy current braking system (ECBS) for the energy absorber. In proposed ECBS, braking torque is high and controllable so that any weight capacity of aircraft can stop. In our study an investigation was carried out through clinical case based approach to analyze the biofeedback system and some psychosomatic applications. Prior investigations reveal that in most cases Psychosomatic patients prefer mastering case based skills to attaching the biomedical equipments with their body for treating disorders. Treatment of subject under clinical observation requires (1) assessing the physiology of the subject under test as a diagnostic strategy, (2) explaining the illness and healing strategies in detail to the subject that are in congruence with the subject's perspective, (3) restructuring the subject's illness beliefs, and (4) psycho physiological training accompanied by homework exercise in order to master the skills. It is difficult and complex to make most advantageous decisions in a shorter time. This paper proposes a comprehensive and integrated network optimization scheme, which will speed up the process of power system restoration. The proposed scheme is applied on IEEE 30 bus system to demonstrate its efficacy. Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) is applied on test bus system to find out the most weighted path in order to priorities those for energization from a complete black out situation. For complete restoration of network paths, the generic restoration milestone approach is applied. In this paper advancements in the vacuum circuit breakers have been reviewed considering the role and effect of Axial Magnetic Field (AMF) on the functional capabilities of the vacuum circuit breaker. Starting from, the introduction of Axial Magnetic Fields into the electrodes to the present modified and newly developed AMF electrodes, its construction, comparison with spiral type electrode and improved effectiveness has been discussed. Arcing modes have also been discussed during the interrupting process. This technique is applied to the high altitude satellites such as geostationary and geosynchronous satellites. This is helpful in determining the satellite formations in the higher altitudes. The algorithm incorporates carrier phase ambiguity resolution technique to determine the relative position between two satellites. The carrier phase and code ranging measurements from GPS to GEO satellite are modeled and simulated using MATLAB software.
