In the proposed method signal to noise (SN) ratio is computed and then SN ratios for unexperimented treatments are estimated using artificial neural network. The SN ratios are converted into a process performance index by applying process capability ratio and VIKOR method, so the treatments can be ranked and the best of them is selected. The performance of the proposed method is verified in a case study. Moreover a sensitivity analysis has been done by a VIKOR score estimator turned neural network. The model has some practical values because of its clear physical meanings. With the analysis of low-cycle test data for a kind of material often used in aero engine, we know that the prediction data derived from this new model and the test data are in good agreement. Moreover, this new model is more accurate and has apparent superiority in fatigue life prediction and description of fatigue damage accumulation by comparing with the traditional linear model.","PeriodicalId":401503,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Quality, Reliability, Risk, Maintenance, and Safety Engineering","volume":"196 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-06-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114749018","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These methods include Stromeyer function, Basquin law, Manson-Coffin law, frequency modified damage function (FMDF) model, strain range partition (SRP) and so on. However, different models are applied to assess the life under high cycle fatigue (HCF) and low cycle fatigue (LCF). This is a domain of concern in the development of fatigue life prediction models which contain combinations of HCF and LCF. In this paper, based on the Manson-Coffin law and an energy-based damage parameter, a general energy-based model is presented to predict fatigue life under both HCF and LCF conditions. By correlated with the energy-based damage parameter to the test data of superalloys GH901 and K403 in existing literatures, the lives predicted by the proposed model are compared with experimental results resulting in a good agreement.","PeriodicalId":401503,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Quality, Reliability, Risk, Maintenance, and Safety Engineering","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-06-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114525223","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The samples are prepared to reveal the differences in the adhesion forces of the IMC layer by dissimilarly establishing each plating thickness for surface finish(Ni/Pd/Au). The hardness and thickness of a P-rich Ni layer, which is known as the weakest section in ENPIG surface, are measured using the nano-indentation and TEM analysis. The degree of adhesion of the IMC layer under each experimental condition is evaluated and the metal plate shear test is performed for verification. The results showed significant correlations between the hardness and thickness of the IMC later and the high fraction defectives of the brittle fractures whose IMC layer had low hardness.","PeriodicalId":401503,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Quality, Reliability, Risk, Maintenance, and Safety Engineering","volume":"53 210 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-06-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125953480","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
