People tell time through timekeeping devices such as wristwatch and mobile phone and these devices will give various accuracy. Accuracy is related to the difference between a reference time and time shown by the devices. Up to now, far too little attention has been paid to the area of timekeeping accuracy. Most of the timekeeping studies especially in accuracy are done specifically in medical area. For this purpose, this study aimed to determine current public timekeeping accuracy. Public timekeeping accuracy is important for meetings, appointments and many other public time-reference applications. Besides, this study investigated the most preferred timekeeping device utilized by the public. The Malaysian Standard Time was used as the reference time, seeing that it is provided by the appointed national timekeeper. The reference time was compared to the displayed time on the timekeeping device of participants. The obtained results indicated that the most preferred time device employed by the public was mobile phone. The study revealed that the mean error for overall data according to the type of timekeeping devices was 1.32 min (S.D. ±2.09min).","PeriodicalId":400983,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE 15th International Colloquium on Signal Processing & Its Applications (CSPA)","volume":"74 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128725171","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper presents a design comparison between conventional design single-tooth and novel multi-tooth design for a single-phase (PMFSM) with 8S-16P and 4S-8P designed specifically for an electric bicycle applications. The result analysis of this motors has been certified using the 2D-FEA analyses. While, matched with a conventional (FSM), a multi-tooth design motor involves a considerably lesser magnet volume material than a conventional PMFSM machine. Meanwhile, as only half of the number of slot pole and volume of permanent magnets is requisite, and it reveals a high torque performance. However, it shows that the torque capability and performance issues can be increase by using \"deterministic optimization method\" (DOM).","PeriodicalId":400983,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE 15th International Colloquium on Signal Processing & Its Applications (CSPA)","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131920776","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is a process in the development and maintenance of multicellular organism which usually happens during embryonic development, wound healing and immune response for the tissue formation by controlling the movement of the cell in particular direction to specific direction. But several studies found that it is difficult to control the cell movement or migration. Thus this study will initiate the migration of cell by inducing pulse electric field and existence of a self-assembled monolayer (protein deposition method). Our study utilizes high voltage Pulse Electric Field, PEF (2kV, 30µs, and single pulse) on the cell that plated on two different surfaces by using two type of protein which is Fetal Bovine Serum (FBS) and Fibronectin (FN). In less than 36 hours, cell cultured on two different surfaces with the assistance of PEF showed enhanced cell migration towards protein area compared to non-protein coated area and PEF enhanced the proliferation rate of the cell on protein area. It is to be noted that controlling the migration of cell is very important for enhancing tissue formation in the wound healing process and for the first time, this study demonstrates the cell migration for wound recovery without depending on any drugs or medicine.","PeriodicalId":400983,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE 15th International Colloquium on Signal Processing & Its Applications (CSPA)","volume":"51 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125936180","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Development of rehabilitation tool for Muslim population with knee pain has become an increasing demand. Electromyogrpahic (EMG) activity of knee muscles may be an assessment tool of such rehabilitation technology. In this study we investigate EMG activity of four leg muscles associated with knee for both healthy and subjects having knee complications. The muscles are from hamstring (biceps femoris long, semitendinosus) and thigh (vastus medialis, rectus femoris) region which influences standing and knee flexion during Salat. We considered five time-domain features of the EMG signal for comparison between healthy and subjects with knee pain. Our results suggest that, overall all four muscles are affected due to the knee pain and thus show abnormal activity in standing and knee flexion. It has also been found that, hamstring muscles were more affected than thigh muscles while performing knee flexion.","PeriodicalId":400983,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE 15th International Colloquium on Signal Processing & Its Applications (CSPA)","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129777434","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The paper proposed an approach of bridge structural health evaluation and classification method based on the combined multivariate linear principal component analysis (PCA) and multilayer artificial neural network (ANN) which is used to compensate temperature on vibration data and classify bridge health respectively. Bridge health can be classified as good, needs rehabilitation and critical. A wireless sensor network (WSN) composed of six autonomous motes is installed along the deck of the reinforced concrete laboratory bridge test platform to acquire vibration, and bridge and environment temperature data. The critical points of the bridge wherein maximum deflections occur are determined using moment diagram. Nondestructive testing (NDT) using controlled vibration testing (CVT) and platform physical alteration technique is implemented with formulated damage test cases to provide different excitations on the bridge. Peak picking (PP) algorithm was used to mitigate data congestion. The optimization technique of scaled conjugate gradient (SCG) is the algorithm used to train the three-layer feedforward ANN and sigmoidal function was used as the activation type for output neurons. There is 0.0038881 cross-entropy (CE) performance and 99.8% accuracy during network training. Satisfactory tested neural network CE performance of 0.00636106 and 98.4% accuracy in classifying bridge health is obtained.","PeriodicalId":400983,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE 15th International Colloquium on Signal Processing & Its Applications (CSPA)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124429667","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
