Abstract

In this study, we present about the enhancement of cell migration and proliferation rate with the assistance of pulse electric field towards wound healing studies. It is a process in the development and maintenance of multicellular organism which usually happens during embryonic development, wound healing and immune response for the tissue formation by controlling the movement of the cell in particular direction to specific direction. But several studies found that it is difficult to control the cell movement or migration. Thus this study will initiate the migration of cell by inducing pulse electric field and existence of a self-assembled monolayer (protein deposition method). Our study utilizes high voltage Pulse Electric Field, PEF (2kV, 30µs, and single pulse) on the cell that plated on two different surfaces by using two type of protein which is Fetal Bovine Serum (FBS) and Fibronectin (FN). In less than 36 hours, cell cultured on two different surfaces with the assistance of PEF showed enhanced cell migration towards protein area compared to non-protein coated area and PEF enhanced the proliferation rate of the cell on protein area. It is to be noted that controlling the migration of cell is very important for enhancing tissue formation in the wound healing process and for the first time, this study demonstrates the cell migration for wound recovery without depending on any drugs or medicine.
