This study explores pathways for adult learning to enhance the growth and development of people at work. The team of researchers used qualitative methods and the phenomenological approach to explore the avenues for adult learning. The findings revealed that the pathways for adult learning involve the use of experiential education, student internship programs, outdoor learning, and other approaches to lifelong adult learning. Moreover, adult learners should be guided and supported in order to learn how to self-regulate how they learn to achieve scholarship and career advancement while working. This study contributes to the literature by revealing the pathways for the eradication or reduction of illiteracy through adult learning.","PeriodicalId":40094,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Adult Education and Technology-IJAET","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.3,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42124399","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Unfortunately, in the public university there are barriers that affect their execution generating considerable delays. The success in the issuance of services is measured by the level of service and proactive management towards the user. However, the interested party is neglected privileging the personal interest in internal management instead of public service. A diagnosis based on data analysis is carried out to determine the factors related to cultural barriers and bureaucratic barriers, based on the behavior of the processes of degrees and titles at the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos with linear regression and text mining techniques. Problems of administrative and technological management and negative impact on the execution of processes are shown. It is justified to continue the research with a proposed solution in the framework of digital transformation, where the user is the center of the process.","PeriodicalId":40094,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Adult Education and Technology-IJAET","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.3,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42226973","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is also evident that Instagram usage may relate to their well-being regarding relationships, connectedness, loneliness, interactions, socialization, social comparison, and emotional contagion. However, research results do not show a consensus on the relationship between Instagram use and well-being. Moreover, studies mainly focus on adolescents rather than university students. Thus, this study aims to examine the relationships between well-being and Instagram use and behaviors among university students. A questionnaire to interrogate the active and passive behaviors on Instagram and the PERMA Profiler was administered to 651 university students. The descriptive and correlational data were obtained to see the levels of Instagram use and habits and well-being. The results showed that university students had a normal functional level of well-being and exhibited passive behaviors rather than active behaviors on Instagram.","PeriodicalId":40094,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Adult Education and Technology-IJAET","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.3,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45697991","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The need of developing global leaders with adequate intercultural competencies has become obvious. Many studies provide the cross-cultural competency taxonomies, rather a theory to conceptualize intercultural competencies for developing global leaders. The problem remains unsolved and becomes more complex. In the present paper, it is proposed that social constructivism is a useful theoretical foundation to develop intercultural competencies for developing global leaders.","PeriodicalId":40094,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Adult Education and Technology-IJAET","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.3,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48293357","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To achieve this objective, the study employed cross-sectional survey research design with a combination of mixed research approach. The study used survey and key informant interviews as the major data gathering tools. The collected quantitative data were analyzed via mean and standard deviation while the qualitative data was presented using narration. The findings of the study showed that the intention of Civic and Ethical Education to help students practice ethical values in their school and locality was not effectively realized. The study result revealed that Civic and Ethical Education positively informed students to practice social and democratic values in their lives, schools, and localities, but a gap persists in creating responsible students who know and match their obligations and rights.","PeriodicalId":40094,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Adult Education and Technology-IJAET","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.3,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48674684","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Companies strive to design and improve safety policies to combat online abuse involving minors. However, parents play a much more critical role in the online safety of their children. The study explores parents’ perception of social media risks and their level of awareness about minor safety on these platforms based on qualitative interviews conducted with 25 Italian parents. The results indicate that mothers are keener to use restrictions compared to fathers, most educated parents display more awareness as well as more trust in institutions and schools, whilst older parents are less likely to use mitigation strategies on their children, admitting their lack of ability to approach new technologies. For this reason, more support should be provided by institutions or social media platforms to parents less technical savvy, who do feel left behind new technological trends.","PeriodicalId":40094,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Adult Education and Technology-IJAET","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.3,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42468119","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Following the COVID-19 pandemic, the University of Ghana transitioned to online facilitation and learning. This qualitative case study explores the transition to online learning at the Accra Learning Centre, which hosts over 80% of the University of Ghana's distance education students. In-depth interviews were conducted for eight students on the potential strengths, challenges, and coping strategies for learning online. It emerged that online learning helps build the digital skills that help adults become self-directed learners. Among challenges, participants observed network and internet connectivity problems. Adult learners were unprepared, but there was no other way to drive lifelong learning endeavours, so they adjusted to online learning through group learning and practice to build their digital literacy skills. The paper recommends that training programmes on change and time management are organised for adult learners who lack those skills and high-speed internet installed at the learning centres.","PeriodicalId":40094,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Adult Education and Technology-IJAET","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.3,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43933447","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the physical world, design refers to form and function. In the digital world, the construct of design embodies meaning making. Immersed in a digital world, the ability of individuals to fully participate in contemporary society is significantly impacted by their ability to derive meaning from their interactions with multi-modal digital texts. Understanding, using, and producing knowledge in the digital world requires literacy competencies beyond those needed for the traditional reading and writing. ‘Design' is therefore an essential literacy for the 21st century. In the present article, the authors trace the evolution of the concept of design literacy, frame design literacy as a human-centred literacy, and argue for the imperative of the inclusion of design literacy in higher education.","PeriodicalId":40094,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Adult Education and Technology-IJAET","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.3,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47400884","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
