Currently, there is no study on the factors that influence student involvement in extracurricular activities, especially table tennis at the higher education level. Student participation in extracurricular activities is influenced by various factors. therefore, the purpose of this study is to identify the factors that influence the involvement of Chinese students in a university in table tennis activities as their co-curriculum. 101 respondents from Chinese universities were randomly selected. Data was collected using a questionnaire that was part of a research tool that underwent reliability testing and expert validation procedures. The overall findings of the study show that several factors, such as practicality, interest, and academic concern, have a significant impact on student involvement in table tennis extracurricular activities. Through regression analysis, the cause is identified. Teachers have a big impact on how often students play table tennis outside of school. Because of this, academic staff should use more effort and influence to ensure that students are actively involved in the university's co-curricular table tennis curriculum.","PeriodicalId":40094,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Adult Education and Technology-IJAET","volume":"48 14","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134901201","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The art program in kindergarten is the primary way of art education for young children; it aims to make them love and feel the beauty of art activities. The literature search shows many problems with early childhood art education in China. The problem is that teachers did not achieve the desired effect on arts education pedagogical practices in actual classroom settings; meanwhile, the art teachers need to realise that their art literacy and skills are superficial. This study focuses on early childhood art education in third-tier cities in China. It aims to investigate the current state of implementation towards preschool art education while exploring the issues that exist in it. A case study approach was used in this qualitative study to explore the reasons behind the not sufficient implementation of preschool aesthetic education. Semi-institutional interviews with three art teachers from different kindergartens revealed that public and private kindergartens had unreasonable art curricula, outdated teaching models, and teachers' lack of art skills and knowledge. Based on the findings, the researcher makes targeted recommendations. Furthermore, this study has a gap in the literature on this area and contributes to the academic research on early childhood arts education.","PeriodicalId":40094,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Adult Education and Technology-IJAET","volume":"49 12","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134901193","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Different family factors will have different degrees of influence on single-parent families. This research will adopt a qualitative method, in which several junior middle school students from single-parent families are collected through interviewing to understand the students' self-evaluation of the current family and school performance. According to the results of the research, it can be seen that family factors greatly influence adolescents from single-parent families. They are often sensitive, have low self-esteem, and desire companionship and attention. The guardian’s education level and style directly affect adolescents' learning attitudes and behaviour. The lack of parental presence leads to increased psychological problems and poor school performance in adolescents from single-parent families, and adolescents raised by grandparents are less emotionally close to their parents. So, in a single-parent family, the parent's company is the most important. Besides, parents' education style will also significantly impact adolescents' psychology and thus affect their school performance.","PeriodicalId":40094,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Adult Education and Technology-IJAET","volume":"49 13","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134901192","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

While teachers in colleges in China mainly focus on students’ vocabulary, grammar, and reading but ignore English phonetic teaching, resulting in students' poor expression ability and communication abilities. For a long time, although its teaching content and teaching methods have been improved with the emergence of various teaching theories, most teachers have always failed to break the traditional teaching mode and build a new teaching system. In recent years, applying the theory of Outcome-based Education to various subjects has changed traditional teaching methods to improve student learning achievement at home and abroad. This paper is to point out the necessity and urgency of the reform of English phonetics teaching in higher vocational colleges through the analysis of the current situation of English phonetics teaching in higher vocational colleges and discuss how to adopt the teaching design from top-down design under the guidance of achievement-oriented education concept and explore the suitable reform and practice of OBE teaching model for English phonetics teaching in higher vocational colleges in China. The English phonetic teaching method, based on the theory of Outcome-based Education, is worth popularising and helps teachers to innovate teaching methods and students to improve learning achievement constantly.","PeriodicalId":40094,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Adult Education and Technology-IJAET","volume":"49 6","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134901197","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Using a mixed-method design, this study found there were differences among the relative value faculty placed on research, teaching, and service, and these differences were consistent with expectations for faculty employed in various tenure and non-tenure line positions. In some instances, faculty values remained the same. In others, the faculty statements indicated changed values in the domains of faculty self-direction and sense of security, the former associated with work-life balance and burnout and the latter with salary and retirement concerns. This study provided insight into faculty values and priorities and how those values and priorities may have changed because of the pandemic. These understandings of faculty values and experiences have implications for faculty recruitment, retention, and development.","PeriodicalId":40094,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Adult Education and Technology-IJAET","volume":"38 3","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135480294","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Through systematic literature review and statistical analysis of empirical research articles, this study takes the community of inquiry (CoI) framework as theoretical support, tries to clarify blended learning instructional design methods based on the CoI framework based on understanding the thematic distribution of the existing literature, and provides a deeper understanding of the application of the CoI framework in the blended classroom. Hence, blended instructional design can be approached from the perspective of both teachers and learners. Students' personalized learning, collaborative learning, peer interaction, and student engagement are targeted to be strengthened. Teachers, on the other hand, should consider teacher-student interactions, teacher roles, instructional materials and environments, and mobile learning.","PeriodicalId":40094,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Adult Education and Technology-IJAET","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136233589","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
