It is a pandemic that forced classes to be conducted into online learning; however, the implementation of online learning remains as a great challenge for both teachers and students. They had to adapt with these new circumstances. Here, Ms. Teams was chosen by the school as their platform to conduct online learning. The foci of this research were to find out the students’ perception related to this application or platform called Ms. Teams and how it was implemented in the class. Descriptive qualitative research was employed and the data were obtained through questionnaire, interview and documentation. The results of questionnaire, the perception was positive with the detail; (1) Category 1 got score 95.4 with the index percentage 70%. (2) Category 2 got score 83 with the index percentage 61%. (3) Category 3 got score 77.6 with the index percentage 57%. The average percentage was 62% and it could be classified into Agree (Good). The conclusions were; (1) Ms. Teams is a good platform to conduct the online learning because this platform provide some exclusive features that make this platform special. The construct of verb changes and modification in English is carefully considered one of the sources of the learning problem, and this concept – verb form changes - cannot be found in any Indonesian \"dictionary\". By means of conceiving the verb changes concept presented hierarchically (contractedly), comprehensively, simply, and fun, it is expected that the sixteen tenses formula can be facilely understood. This article aims at presenting descriptively (qualitatively) a learning design of sixteen English tenses with a constructivist approach. Those namely sixteen tenses formula are to be simplified through the classification of two tenses. Those two distinct tenses are namely present and past. All the English tenses are explained through the concept of the two tenses. The construct of present and past tenses is explained through understanding the minimum requirements for the formation of a sentence, namely the existence of a subject and predicate. In pesantren world, English is very essential to teach and “English-Tren” can be a way of asssisting santri to develop the santris’ speaking skill. “English-Tren” is English for Pesantren, a branch of English for Specific Purposes (ESP), designed to meet the target of Pesantren in improving Santris’ English skills especially speaking. This study aims to explain how is English-Tren implemented in developing santris’ English Speaking Skill. This study is a case study with the setting in Pondok Pesantren Darussalam Dukuhwaluh Purwokerto promoting the santris’ improvement in speaking skill through the course of “English-Tren”. The data collection techniques included interview to three English teachers and five santris supported by observation and documentation. The result shows that English-Tren is implemented through three ways namely Morning English biweekly, English taught as a subject in madrasah diniyah classes, and English taught and practiced in English program. {"title":"Planning an ESP Course Design in SMK Context Teachers’ Roles and Problems","authors":"Khairunnisa Dwinalida, Sholeh Setiaji","doi":"10.24090/tarling.v6i2.7252","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.24090/tarling.v6i2.7252","url":null,"abstract":"ESP or English for Specific Purposes is distinctive in that it considers students' learning needs because ESP equips students with the necessary skills to compete in the workplace. In other words, based on the student's major, the teacher must tailor English instruction to be fit for employment. How the teachers preparing English lessons for vocational students have not been fully disclosed in prior study, despite some of the issues teachers confront when teaching English at vocational schools. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to analyze the teachers’ roles and also problems in planning the instructions for their students. In answering the released research questions, qualitative research using the interview method and also an open-ended questionnaire were conducted on 3 English teachers from 3 different SMKs with different majors. These three English teachers have a combined teaching experience of almost exactly ten years. Online interviews and questionnaires with questions about learning preparation based on the Dudley-Evans hypothesis were completed via phone and email. The results of the surveys and interviews were then examined by classifying the data according to theory. The aim of this research is to describe the application of an e-learning strategy for speaking skill in the Arabic Language Center (PKPBA) Universitas Islam Negeri Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang and the students' opinions about it. This research is descriptive qualitative research. Data sources are the process of teaching speaking skill in class 21 of the science and technology department and students. The data collection tools used are observation, interview and documentation. As for the method of data analysis, it is a method of analyzing qualitative data that consists of stages: data reduction, presentation, and conclusion. This study indicated that an e-learning strategy for speaking skill in the Arabic Language Center at Universitas Islam Negeri Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang was applied by means of WhatsApp, YouTube, and Google Meet. The strategy consisted of actions: 1) Before education: preparing a WhatsApp group, giving study materials in the form of pdf and educational video on a YouTube link; 2) When teaching: sharing a Google Meet link, explaining new vocabulary or phrases, reading the exemplary dialogue text and students imitate it, several students practice the dialogue, giving students a chance to submit questions; 3) After education: evaluation through the application of dialogue between students and conclusion. Dalam penelitian ini, mengkaji sinonimitas pada lafadz sanah dan ‘am yang sama-sama bermakna tahun. Data yang digunakan adalah ayat Al-Qur’an yang terdapat lafadz sanah dan ‘am. Tujuannya untuk mengetahui makna lafadz sanah dan ‘am dalam Al-Qur’an dan hubungan makna lafadz sanah dan ‘am melalui analisis semantik. Metodologi penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian kepustakaan (library research) dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Adapun hasil penelitian yang ditemukan bahwa lafadz sanah digunakan untuk menunjukkan tahun yang buruk/celaka, sedih, payah, sakit dan capek. Sedangkan pada lafadz ‘am digunakan untuk menunjukkan kondisi tahun yang bahagia, subur dan sejahtera. Kemudian lafadz sanah dan ‘am juga dianalisis berdasarkan makna semantik menurut Abdul Chaer yang membagi jenis makna menjadi 12 yaitu makna leksikal, makna gramatikal, makna kontekstual, makna referensial dan non referensial, makna denotatif, makna konotatif, makna konseptual, makna asosiatif, makna kata, makna istilah, makna idiom, dan makna peribahasa. The use of LMS for teaching and learning process is useful during the spread of coronavirus. This research itself aimed to find out the students’ perception of LMS used to teach English in SMK Ma’arif NU 1 Cilongok. This research employed descriptive qualitative method. The participants of this research were students of SMK Ma’arif NU 1 Cilongok. The instrument for collecting the data was a closed-questionnaire. After the data collection, the researchers analyzed the data by calculating the percentage of the response on each item in the questionnaire. The results revealed that the students gave positive responses to the LMS employed in SMK Ma’arif NU 1 Cilongok since most of the students’ responses were on agree or strongly agree scale. Salah satu metode dalam pengajaran bahasa Arab ialah metode eklektik. Tujuan dari penelitian ini ialah mendeskripsikan (1) tujuan pengajaran dan perencanaan bahasa Arab di Lembaga Kursus Bahasa Arab Al-Fitrah, (2) implementasi metode eklektik dalam pengajaran bahasa Arab di Lembaga Kursus Bahasa Arab Al-Fitrah, dan (3) Optimalisasi metode eklektik dalam pengajaran bahasa Arab di Lembaga Kursus Bahasa Arab Al-Fitrah. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini ialah laporan hasil wawancara dan laporan hasil observasi. Adapun teknik analisis data yang digunakan ialah teknik analisis data Miles dan Huberman yang terdiri dari pengumpulan data, reduksi data, pemaparan data dan penarikan kesimpulan.
