Barroso","doi":"10.1109/IMOC.2013.6646552","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1109/IMOC.2013.6646552","url":null,"abstract":"As an alternative to replace microwave tubes used nowadays in compact space systems for satellites communications, this work examines the feasibility of using nonlinear transmission lines (NLTL) consisting of nonlinear components as varactor diodes, or capacitors modeled nonlinearly, as ideal circuits, without ohmic losses and real ones, with ohmic losses. All simulations were confirmed using equations found in the literature to verify the models validity. It was also verified that high voltages prevent the use of varactor diodes in NLTLs. One big issue concerns network survivability and related control functions. This paper discusses available options for Ethernet survivability focusing on protection switching and comparing them to SONET/SDH protection schemes. This device can produce highly intense electric fields over a wide range of wavelengths, which can be used to excite nonlinear effects such as surface enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) over a wide range of wavelengths or be used to improve the performance of solar cells. The femtosecond laser pulses in conjunction with a nano positioner are initialy used to make a matrix of interconnected waveguides. This matrix is dipped in a 10% fluoridric acid (HF) to modify the matrix to a microchannel. Amaya-Fernandez","doi":"10.1109/IMOC.2013.6646484","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1109/IMOC.2013.6646484","url":null,"abstract":"In this paper, we show numerical simulations for analyzing spatially multiplexed systems based on orthogonal frequency division multiplexing and multiple-input multiple-output Alamouti code in order to compare the performance of the transmission in a two-core fiber with low coupling, and in few-mode fiber with high differential group delay. These new fibers are the most recent alternatives used for improving the throughput of long-haul and high-speed optical fiber networks. We compare the bit-error-rate of two orthogonal frequency division multiplexing signals, after 100 km of optical fiber, considering only its linear effects. The first one uses an 8 phase-shift keying signal operating at 130 Gbps, and the second one uses a 16 quadrature amplitude modulated signal operating at 170 Gbps. Our results show a better bit error rate performance using a few-mode fiber, compared with a two-core fiber.
