National regulation represented by the resolution No. 303/2002 of the National Telecommunications Agency (ANATEL) joined the guidelines of the International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP) for limiting the human exposure to electromagnetic fields. There are several methods to assess the exposure level but the MoM is suitable for both far and near-field in an open topology through numerical simulation. The objective of this work is to evaluate the levels of non-ionizing radiation that the population, inhabiting adjacent areas of the antenna, will be submitted. This also estimates the protection zone from the frequency and feed power values. Most importantly, the method enables calculations to be performed using different antenna heights and different power levels. A brief discussion of the computational implementation of the propagation model is presented, followed by an example that demonstrates the diagram of the exposure level generated. Comparison with ITU-T 1546-4 propagation model and two ray model are also presented.","PeriodicalId":395359,"journal":{"name":"2013 SBMO/IEEE MTT-S International Microwave & Optoelectronics Conference (IMOC)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-10-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131149895","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Both discrete devices are intended to be used on very short-haul links based on Poly-Methyl-Methacrylate (PMMA) Polymer Optical Fibres (POFs). The devices were firstly developed from commercially available multilayer dielectric stack filters and secondly from engineered Cholesteric Liquid Crystals (CLCs) manufactured by using nematic LC doped with appropriate chiral dopant. In order to have the reflection of above 80% for the desired wavelength and also for non-polarised light approximately 20 layers of CLC with both helicities in a planar Grandjean texture were used. The CLC with left handed helix reflects left circularly polarised light, while the right handed helix reflects the right handed circularly polarised light.","PeriodicalId":395359,"journal":{"name":"2013 SBMO/IEEE MTT-S International Microwave & Optoelectronics Conference (IMOC)","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-10-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123991318","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Six resonators are interconnected in such a way as to yield three outputs with passbands centered at 1.8 GHz, 2.1 GHz and 2.45 GHz covering the GSM, UMTS and IEEE 802.11b wireless bands. Each output presents a Chebyshev ripple level of 0.04321 dB and fractional bandwidth of 2.5 %, 3.3 % and 2.3 % for the left, center and right passbands, respectively . The proposed measurement is divided in two setups and is used to obtain the amplitude of the two accessible electric field components of a plane wave. From the axial ratio and the discrete phase information obtained by trial, it is possible to determine the amplitude and phase of the electric field radiated by one or more sources. The setup is constituted by a pair of dipoles orthogonally positioned to determine these two field components. The results are obtained for two kinds of polarization: linear and circular. Good agreement was obtained between the simulated and measured results.","PeriodicalId":395359,"journal":{"name":"2013 SBMO/IEEE MTT-S International Microwave & Optoelectronics Conference (IMOC)","volume":"19 6","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-10-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120851231","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The measurement technique is derived from the transmission line method. The sample holder is adapted from a section of a rectangular waveguide pierced by a tubular load for high temperature measurements at 2.45 GHz. Simulations of the loaded sample holder are carried out with CST Microwave Studio® for several values of sample permittivity. The accuracy of the technique is evaluated by comparing these values to those obtained from Abdulnour's extraction model. It is shown that by properly choosing a set of calibration standards the technique can be quite accurate.","PeriodicalId":395359,"journal":{"name":"2013 SBMO/IEEE MTT-S International Microwave & Optoelectronics Conference (IMOC)","volume":"144 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-10-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122548992","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The improvements in the input impedance and gain are obtained varying the shape of the helix using a second order polynomial function. The optimal polynomial parameters are found using the deep-cut version of the ellipsoidal optimization algorithm. The use of the well known formulae and diagrams for the design of uniform helical antennas as a initial point of the deterministic method can reduce the search domain and provides a fast convergence rate. Results are presented for WiFi application using a center frequency of 2.45 GHz. It shows that the input impedance and the antenna length can be considerably improved using a simple and efficient parametrization.","PeriodicalId":395359,"journal":{"name":"2013 SBMO/IEEE MTT-S International Microwave & Optoelectronics Conference (IMOC)","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-10-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121927691","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
