The quality of life is a social trend, an important link of the statistical system in any country, and for its measurement all general statistical methods are used: from systematization and data grouping to the calculation of parameters. This article’s aim is to address how the quality of life is perceived in Romania and the relationships between the main indicators that generally define human development.","PeriodicalId":393626,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the International Conference on Applied Statistics","volume":"58 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132924156","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The persisting demographic decline and significant labor shortages point out to the importance of having an effective transition from school to work (as reflected in several Europe 2020 policy targets) so that youth and young adult cohorts are able to contribute to the Romanian economy to the full extent of their abilities. Analysis of the latest data available reveals that Romanian university graduates’ path to employment often involves a complete switch from study to work. Despite a lack of previous work experience, they enjoy high employment rates, relatively long job tenure that starts on, or shortly after, graduation, and have jobs that match their education. They also tend to be proactive in their job search and over 90% are not willing to change residence in order to start employment. Inactivity patterns that consider both work and education, and early leavers from education show significant fluctuations during the economic cycle. Results indicate the strong and weak areas with respect to labor market integration of youths and young adults, and can provide a starting point for policies to optimize their successful integration. It also points out to potential research areas to address key aspects of transitions from school to work that may clarify unsolved issues and guide effective policy interventions.","PeriodicalId":393626,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the International Conference on Applied Statistics","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125617229","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The Blockchain technology is used in virtual coins (bitcoin) conditions, with a high innovation potential, applicable in various areas, with the advantage of storing databases, resulting in an unprecedented level of transparency in the private or public area. Interestingly, under the bitcoin conditions, the black chain system uses a decentralized peer-to-peer payment system. Practically, the bitcoin can be considered as the most appropriate triple game accounting system. All of these considerations are developing in the big data era, which is defined as a large, diverse, high-volume information base requiring new forms of processing. Big data is important for businesses because based on these, strategic and marketing decisions can be made to optimize the activity in the market conditions and consumer preferences. European Union directives provide for measures to ensure the development of all states and, in this context, the community. At the same time, some measures provide for a more accelerated development for states with a low accession. For this, funds have been made from which important amounts are allocated to these states. The complex development of the European Union aims, in fact, to improve the quality of life (standard of living) in all Member States. At the European community level there are databases usable in economic analyzes. Also, Eurostat is the institution with the most complex databases. Recently, the Conference of the Directors of the Institute of Statistics in the European States analyzed the perspective of calculating the indicators in the context of the big data to be implemented. The article focuses on the concrete study of the use of large data in the calculation of the indicators that underlie the comparability between the EU Member States.","PeriodicalId":393626,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the International Conference on Applied Statistics","volume":"156 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120962465","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

How much to invest, which is the proper media channel mix or what is the influence of brand heritage are the questions of interest and which the paper responds to. Therefore, this paper is aiming to analyze the brand performance indicators in 2018 (awareness, trial and usage) for over 700 brands in Romania based on their investment on each media channel for 2014-2018 period and 2014 brand indicators. As for characterization of media investment 47 variables were retained, principal component analysis was used for reducing factors of influence. Thus, four main components were retrieved: media investment in absolute measures, main and second proportion in terms of media channel mix, and qualitative aspects of the brand. In conclusion, some multivariate regressions were built for identifying impact on each 2018 brand indicator using the four principal components and 2014 levels of the brand indicators.","PeriodicalId":393626,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the International Conference on Applied Statistics","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115497790","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper analyzes the interdependencies between the nine dimensions of quality of life in EU countries, based on objective indicators according to EUROSTAT approach. The main objective of this paper is to identify some patterns among EU countries and some directions of improvement of quality of life in Romania by using correlation analysis, principal component analysis and cluster methods. There are identified three main dimensions of quality of life: Material dimension, Social dimension and Educational and environmental dimension. Moreover there are identified three clusters among EU countries: one with high levels of all dimensions, one with high levels of Material dimension but low levels of Social dimension and the third one with low levels of Material dimension and Educational and environmental dimension. Romania is included in the third cluster with a high level on Social dimension but a low level in Material dimension and Educational and environmental dimension.","PeriodicalId":393626,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the International Conference on Applied Statistics","volume":"193 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132479013","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the ‘80s and ‘90s, many authors debated the non-deterministic character of the impact of migration on the development of primarily the countries of origin. Migration as a complex process in globalization has amplified relations between states but there have been very rare reductions in development gaps between them that in turn discourage labour migration. In spite of the increase in well-being based on theory, practice has always revealed an asymmetric development that causes an increase in the differences between emigration and immigration countries. The global strategy for poverty eradication adopted by world leaders in 2000 did not include migration-related targets, probably because the link between migration and development had not yet been properly perceived. Since then, studies, policy analyzes, international forums and migration recommendations have focused on policy-making in practice, including efforts to support migration concerns in the post-2015 development agenda. Various ideas and recommendations were presented during that data on the most appropriate way to use the migration-development link to maximize its positive effects. In 2015 was adopted the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Starting with these documents, the contribution of migration to sustainable development was officially recognized for the first time. From the beginning remittances have played an important role in setting migration as the most important development factor. We sustained that this view, on which allmost all national policies are based, distorts the notion of development and hide the main causes of current labor migration. In this context, this study also attempts to analyze the two-way relation between the factors that determine human development (income, education and health) and international migration. Managing migration is one of the most important issues of global cooperation.","PeriodicalId":393626,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the International Conference on Applied Statistics","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116915816","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Currently, the health system in Romania has a number of major deficiencies, ranging from the lack of state-of-the-art equipment in some hospitals, inadequate medical staff in many hospital units, to the lack of essential, vital medicines needed for treatments prescribed to the sick. The paper aims to analyze the differences in the public health care system between the eight development regions in Romania (Northwest, Center, North-East, South-East, South-Muntenia, Bucharest-Ilfov, South-West Oltenia and West) and to identify the reasons that led to their appearance. The paper presents a detailed examination of the main statistical indicators of the public health care system in Romania using a series of statistical analysis techniques. We founded significant differences amongst the eight development regions in Romania, regarding the functioning of the public health care system. Some regions (such as Bucharest Ilfov) is found to outperform others; these regional gaps are analyzed attempting to highlight the main reasons of the regional disparities.","PeriodicalId":393626,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the International Conference on Applied Statistics","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123794884","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There are thousands of new patents related to nanotechnology being announced each year being undoubtedly perceived as one of the fundamental technologies of the present century. When it comes to the fashion sector, nanotechnology offers an innovative mean of processing fabrics that could change the clothing industry. Previous studies conducted in the domain of technology revealed that consumer attitude toward nanotechnology is determined by the perceived risks and benefits of applying nanotechnology and consumer’s scepticism when encountering new challenges. This research aims to analyse the determinants that affect the consumer’s knowledge toward nanotechnologies used in the fashion industry in Romania. In this respect, I applied a questionnaire in the Romanian public universities to identify individuals’ attitude toward technology and their knowledge regarding the usage of nanotechnology in this industry. The consumer’s level of knowledge regarding the nanotechnology implementation in fashion production is expected to be influenced by their attitude toward technology. Also, the consumer’s requirements regarding the labelling of nanotextile are expected to be influenced by their level of nanotechnology knowledge. Based on the empirical results, this study is intended to provide suggestions that could contribute to the expansion of the acceptance of the innovations applied in the clothing industry.","PeriodicalId":393626,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the International Conference on Applied Statistics","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123060017","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to make these courses more attractive, and to challenge and stimulate statistical education, our students work on projects in which they use official statistical data to explore practical, real-life issues. Their attitudes and perceptions regarding official statistical data sources are very important, both for acquisition of statistical analysis skills, essential for their future professional life, and for improvement of the official data sources. Therefore, we conducted a custom-made survey among students from Romanian higher education institutions (HEIs) and gathered a database with 334 responses, which allowed us to identify the main characteristics, problems and solutions concerning the use of statistical official data sources by university students.","PeriodicalId":393626,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the International Conference on Applied Statistics","volume":"255 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125789309","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Immigration can be considered as a potential solution to the problem of population aging. But here too, it must be born in mind that immigrants may not properly adapt to the new labor market they have entered, if they come from very different cultures. Almost all the countries that have migrants, offer residence permits only to those who bring highly qualified workforce, while the legal possibilities of immigration of the unskilled workers are diminishing. Therefore, the demographic perspectives are not the most optimistic. The forecasts developed by specialists reveal dramatic future developments for the population of Romania. The factors that can cause a person to migrate are of several types. In this study it will be shown that migration is the result of several individual actions of analysis, people evaluating both the benefits and the risks involved by a possible migration.","PeriodicalId":393626,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the International Conference on Applied Statistics","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131639818","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
