Advent of new technology has blurred the boundaries between work and home and has further reduced sleep-time. Studies on antecedents and outcomes of insomnia, in particular, employee task-performance are scarce. Accordingly, this study is focused to identify the effect of performance pressure, negative work-rumination, and constant connectivity on insomnia symptoms and employee task-performance. Further, this study is measuring the mediating role of negative work-rumination and insomnia symptoms between performance pressure and employee task-performance. Current study is also measuring the moderating role of constant connectivity, as we have witnessed that during the pandemic of Covid-19 this constant connectivity, has further penetrated into our personal and professional lives. Data was collected from 215 employees of manufacturing sector, working in different organizations, through a 3-phase time-lag. Direct and indirect effects along with moderation and sequential mediation were measured through Smart PLS. Findings revealed that sequential mediation, along with all direct and indirect paths has significant relationships. Constant connectivity was found to strengthen the relationship between negative work-rumination and insomnia-symptoms. Limitations and implications of the study has also been discussed.","PeriodicalId":388480,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Public Value and Administrative Insight","volume":"84 2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116415789","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Additionally, we explore the moderating role of organizational support in the relationship between perceived training and development and intentions to stay with/leave organizations. Design/methodology/approach –The sample size for this study was 204 questionnaires from the different textile industries in Pakistan and use convenience sampling technique to collect data from respondents. Therefore, the population of this research is all the managers of the textile sector in Faisalabad. We use a correlation matrix and regression analysis to analyze the relationships between variables. We also explore work attitudes as a mediator in the relationship between perceived training and development and intention to stay. Findings – The results of this study reveal that training and development activities increase the employees’ intentions to leave if the organization has a weak employee retention system. Furthermore, employees who experience higher levels of organizational support may stay with the organizations longer. These findings show the usefulness of explaining the link between training and development and employee retention. Moreover, the findings collectively suggest that studies examining employee retention should include a wider range of work attitudes that highlight pleasant forms of affect. Originality/value – This study is one of the first to investigate the effect of perceived training and development on intention to stay by using the moderating role of organizational support.","PeriodicalId":388480,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Public Value and Administrative Insight","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127471157","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Their responsiveness and accountability towards the masses is one of the key requirements in terms of effective and efficient service delivery by all wings of the government. Apart from other factors, the existence of capacity and capacity building plays a vital role in determining success or failure of any public official. For that matter, this study focuses on one aspect of effective service delivery i.e. capacity building of public officials and challenges faced in this regard. A qualitative research strategy has been followed where 33 officers of senior/managerial cadre were interviewed using a semi-structured interview guide. Purposive sampling strategy was used to select the participants of study. The rich data collected were analyzed using a thematic analysis technique. Themes emerging from the data revealed that serious capacity building issues and challenges exist in Pakistan’s public sector owing to several reasons, some of them include lack of structured and service oriented modern programs, lack of the fit between performance and pay, absence of accountability mechanisms and red-tapism involved in Pakistan’s bureaucracy. For that matter, it is the need of the hour that aforementioned factors must be taken into account and the needful shall be done by making changes in the civil service structure through reforms.","PeriodicalId":388480,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Public Value and Administrative Insight","volume":"89 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131254648","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Furthermore, as innovation is the core element of competitive advantage and organizational performance, so open innovation strategy’s role is important in relationship of BOS and organizational performance. This paper presents the mediating role of inbound and outbound open innovation between the relationship of Blue Ocean Strategy and organizational performance. As there has been some discussion in past literature about the direct relationship of five constructs of BOS and organizational performance, therefore this paper focuses the mediating role of inbound and outbound open innovation between five constructs of BOS and organizational performance. It is a quantitative study. The unit of analysis is organization while a self-administered questionnaire was used for data collection from the senior managers of Malaysian manufacturing industries. Structural Equation modeling (SEM) was applied so PLS3 was used to analyze the data, collected from 116 manufacturing organizations. Results reveal that, in the Malaysian industries, inbound open innovation significantly mediates the relationship of three of the five constructs between BOS and organizational performance. While outbound open innovation does not mediate the relationship between BOS and organizational performance in the Malaysian manufacturing sector.","PeriodicalId":388480,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Public Value and Administrative Insight","volume":"107 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127979906","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, this study aims to identify popular Physicians Rating Websites (PRWs), study their characteristics and report prevalence, nature and distribution of online ratings and reviews in the context of a developing country (Pakistan). Most popular PRWs were identified and ratings and reviews were scraped using Link Klipper extension and Octoparse software. Scrapped data were then analyzed. Websites and their apps were explored and also a psychologist having profiles, ratings and reviews on chosen websites was also interviewed. Two PRWs (marham.pk and oladoc.com) are popular in Pakistan with an Alexa rank of less than 1000 in Pakistan at the time of the study, indicating high popularity. Oladoc has more profiles (15,069) as compared to Marham. However, it has less number of profiles with quantitative and narrative reviews, 23% and 11% as compared to 45% and 30.6% of Marham. Average ratings per rated doctor and average number of reviews per doctor are also greater on oladoc as compared to marham (66.32 and 22.93 as compared to 31.72 and 15.77), respectively. By removing profiles rated on both sites, there are 6,446 unique profiles on both sites which have received at least one rating which has been estimated to be about 3% of the doctors serving the country. It is concluded that online reviews and ratings of physicians is a new but increasing phenomenon. Many of the trends are issues in online ratings and reviews are same as those in the developed countries. As online reviews and ratings increase, the need to ensure objectivity and accuracy as well as user education will also increase, for which government bodies, professional associations of doctors and owners of PRWs will need to collaborate.","PeriodicalId":388480,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Public Value and Administrative Insight","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128166697","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
