Sum output of this adder is implemented using SOA-MZI configuration and carry output is implemented using SOA assisted by filtering. To make output of both the gates compatible for logic levels, an EDFA with suitable parameters is included at the output end of AND gate i.e. for carry. Truth table of Half Adder is verified on the basis of O/P power as well as by time domain analysis. Bit error rate and quality factor have been calculated at different bit rates. Satisfactory performance is obtained up to 80Gb/s.","PeriodicalId":388309,"journal":{"name":"2013 Tenth International Conference on Wireless and Optical Communications Networks (WOCN)","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115474363","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Due to bursty nature of the Internet traffic, optical burst switching (OBS) is highly suitable for metropolitan area networks compared to circuit switching. This paper devises and presents three new scheduling algorithms for OBS based metropolitan area networks capable of providing quality of service (QoS) to delay sensitive applications. Specifically, these algorithms are able to provide differentiated service to voice, video and data traffic according to their acceptable performance metrics. Detailed simulation experiments are presented which were used to study the performance and to validate the effectiveness of the proposed scheduling algorithms with augmented QoS capabilities over a ring OBS network.","PeriodicalId":388309,"journal":{"name":"2013 Tenth International Conference on Wireless and Optical Communications Networks (WOCN)","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115759303","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In a clustered network, the aggregation is most required approach to perform the cooperative communication between the clusters. While performing the data aggregation the most critical issue is the sequence identification of nodes visit. In this present work, we have defined a novel parametric approach to generate the aggregative path for underwater sensor network. In this work, the broadcasting is resolved in single path communication. The aim of the work is to provide the best next hop selection under multiple parameters like energy, distance, congestion, delay and throughput analysis. These five parameters are observed under the localization behavior while generating the aggregative path. The simulation results obtained from the work shows the effectiveness of work in terms of energy, distance and the network life.","PeriodicalId":388309,"journal":{"name":"2013 Tenth International Conference on Wireless and Optical Communications Networks (WOCN)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129847527","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Its simplicity coupled with the fact that it can be computed faster than the Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) makes it an attractive option for image and video compression. Consequently a lot of research is in progress to determine novel architectures and algorithms for faster DCT computation having high throughput so that it can even be used for real time applications. For example, when transmitting and receiving videos, which have been compressed using MPEG2, one would like to receive the video, without any buffering delay. In other words, one requires such an architecture, which provides the DCTQ coeffecients at a consistent rate, with very low latency between two coeffecients. As such, a highly parallel and pipelined architecture employing 57 pipeline stages and using fast multipliers and adders is proposed in this work. The proposed DCT Processor is implemented in Spartan 3E FPGA.","PeriodicalId":388309,"journal":{"name":"2013 Tenth International Conference on Wireless and Optical Communications Networks (WOCN)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130214475","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Paralysis can leave present these people with no interest in life leading to mental depression. An assistive device can aid a disabled person with a support to lead an easy life and it should be able to efficiently discern user's intention providing ease of usage. This paper proposes a wireless, wearable tongue controlled assistive device called Optical Sensor Based Tongue Controlled Assistive Device (OTCAD). Here the tongue movement is sensed using a small and low cost infrared (IR) sensor, mounted bilaterally near user's cheek. The user uses his/her tongue to change the reflection intensity of the sensor and this signal change is converted into user commands through signal processing. These commands are then wirelessly transmitted to PC/Smartphone through which the user can control their home environment, move a wheel chair or pass information to their care taker.","PeriodicalId":388309,"journal":{"name":"2013 Tenth International Conference on Wireless and Optical Communications Networks (WOCN)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130288340","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Mobile cloud computing (MCC) combines cloud computing and mobile devices to provide the benefits for mobile users, network operators and cloud providers also. Mobile devices have various problems like enter and leave the connection unpredictably, Limitation of battery power, frequent location changes, network signal loss, hardware failures and other common factors. Mobile devices appear and disappear in the network unpredictably. The proposed technique reduces the faults of mobile devices by using the past pattern of states and making the decision for predicting the future states of mobile devices. In this paper we have proposed a fault monitoring technique which is based on Hidden Markov Model (HMM) and Baum-Welch algorithm for analyzing and predicting the future resource state.","PeriodicalId":388309,"journal":{"name":"2013 Tenth International Conference on Wireless and Optical Communications Networks (WOCN)","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128571187","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
