However, the smoothness of its implementation was slightly affected due to several issues such as hesitancy and even total refusal, due to several specific factors. To establish herd immunity, an adequate amount of immunization is necessary, and this issue needs to be addressed appropriately to avoid failure in efforts to curb the spread of the disease. In identifying appropriate and effective strategies to deal with this, it is important to know the factors that can influence such individuals to change their minds and eventually agree to be vaccinated. This study explores the reasons behind COVID-19 vaccine acceptance among nineteen (n=19) late vaccine recipients who initially delay or refuse to be vaccinated, using an in-depth interview method and thematic analysis. Four themes and eight subthemes were identified, emphasizing the significant role of real evidence, health risk-related perceptions, peer recommendations, and higher authority enforcement in influencing the participants to finally make a U-turn. The findings of this study can be used to formulate strategies to increase vaccine acceptance rates, especially among individuals who are still reluctant.","PeriodicalId":38537,"journal":{"name":"Malaysian Journal of Public Health Medicine","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135135303","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A cross sectional study was conducted among 352 respondents. The self-administered questionnaire for HFMD contains four domains and a total of 30 items. The study included 75 kindergartens in Kuala Terengganu. Three government entities that operate kindergartens have offered a list of locations. Participants in this study were caretakers who were directly involved in the care of the children in the selected kindergartens. Several available methods were conducted for this study. The Cronbach Alpha method and Exploratory Factor Analysis were applied to determine the reliability and validities of the proposed constructs using pilot data. It was shown that the proposed constructs (varimax maximization) were reliable and valid for further investigation. Next, the new data was re-collected guided from pilot result suggestions to represent the field work. The field work data was then analyzed using Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) to assess the performance of the measurement model. All constructs were fit and met the acceptable limits of model fitness, reliability, and validities. This HFMD tool underwent forward and reverse translation, content validation, and adaptation in the Malay language. The validity and reliability of this measure have been established for HFMD's satisfactory exploratory factor analysis and internal consistency in measuring Knowledge, Attitude, Preventive Practices, and Health Belief","PeriodicalId":38537,"journal":{"name":"Malaysian Journal of Public Health Medicine","volume":"57 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135138788","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

First ANC is suggested to be conducted within 12 gestation weeks. This study aims to investigate the prevalence and factors of late booking of ANC among pregnant women in Sepang, Selangor. A cross-sectional study using a self-administered questionnaire on 492 pregnant women in the first, second, and third trimesters was conducted randomly at government health clinics. The prevalence of late ANC booking was 27.6% (136). Multiple logistic regression showed that poor knowledge (AOR = 1.604, 95% CI:1.022,2.517, P-value = 0.040), higher parity (AOR = 1.225, 95% CI:1.003,1.495, P-value = 0.046), previous experience of spontaneous vaginal delivery (SVD, AOR = 2.855, 95% CI:1.227,6.645, P-value = 0.015) and did not have experience on delivery (AOR = 2.906, 95% CI:1.147,7.364, P-value = 0.025) associated with late ANC booking. The prevalence of late ANC booking in this study was higher than MOH targeted, therefore it is suggested to devise the appropriate program to improve knowledge and awareness of the targeted high-risk population.","PeriodicalId":38537,"journal":{"name":"Malaysian Journal of Public Health Medicine","volume":"21 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139348652","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Employees' OCB has been found to be favourably influenced by contextual factors, such as organisational justice and ethical climate. OCB has also been proven to predict employee effectiveness. The goal of this research is to identify any relationship between nurses’ OCB and their organisational justice and ethical climate. The respondents were approached using the Medical Research Ethics Committee procedure, which was registered under the National Malaysia Research Registration. Cross-sectional research was carried out in the state of Selangor, with five hospitals volunteering to participate. Nurses may see that their responsibilities, justice, and ethics could result in OCB participation. The findings have practical implications for human resource managers and practitioners; they may benefit nurses' abilities as well as the productivity of hospitals by developing targeted individual behaviours, which can lead to the effectiveness and proactive operation of the organisation.","PeriodicalId":38537,"journal":{"name":"Malaysian Journal of Public Health Medicine","volume":"119 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139348717","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is implied indirectly that healthcare personnel are essential for pain management to enhance patients’ quality of life. This study aims to conduct a bibliometric analysis of pain management research using the Scopus and Web of Science (WoS) databases by assessing the trend in pain management research output and identifying pain management research topics and trends. The Scopus and WoS databases were utilised to locate pain management-related publications. Using ScientoPy and VOSviewer, the gathered datasets were then analysed. From 2012 to 2022, Scopus and WoS databases demonstrated an upward trend in pain management research production. WoS grew consistently from 436 in 2012 to 900 in 2022, whilst Scopus grew similarly but more modestly from 205 in 2012 to 302 in 2022. With 3,332 papers, the United States has regularly led the world in pain management research production. “Pain”, with 1717 papers, is the most researched theme in pain management research, followed by “pain management”, with 1584 publications, “analgesia” and “opioid”, With 867 and 649 papers, respectively. The co-occurrence analysis of authors’ keywords found that “analgesia”, “pain”, “pain management”, “chronic pain”, “opioid”, and “acute pain” were the most tightly interconnected and had the most substantial relationship. This study’s findings provide valuable insights into the current state of pain management research and highlight the need for ongoing research to develop more effective pain management strategies and enhance patients’ quality of life.","PeriodicalId":38537,"journal":{"name":"Malaysian Journal of Public Health Medicine","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135135124","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There was an estimated 15% of working-age adults who experienced a mental disorder worldwide in 2019. To make the situation worse, service workers in food retail and food services face tremendous stress and mental health consequences during the COVID-19 pandemic. Various study found that worsening mental health and psychological distress have been accelerated substantially by the pandemic. An unsafe or unhealthy working environment can undermine mental health, as poor mental health can interfere with a person’s ability to work if left unsupported. This systematic review aimed to evaluate findings related to factors associated with depression, anxiety, and stress among food industry workers. Articles related to these factors were collected electronically from two different databases (EBSCOHOST and Scopus). An independent reviewers screened the titles and abstracts of the collected articles from each database, and then stored them in Google Sheet based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Next, the included articles were critically appraised to assess the quality of the studies using the Mixed Methods Appraisal Tool (MMAT). Out of the 292 articles identified, four were included in the final review. Sociodemographic characteristics, as well as biological, psychological, and occupational factors were found to be associated with common mental issues among food industry workers. By identifying the risk factors, specific interventions can be implemented by the employers and other relevant parties to prevent, promote, protect, and support the mental health well-being of food industry workers. These findings may be utilised to improve the implementation of key interventions directed to prevent, promote, protect, and support the mental health of food industry workers. Consequently, an enabling environment can be created to address mental health at work, as outlined by the World Health Organization (WHO). Employers may adapt or revamp their work environment to minimise exposure to psychological risks among their workers, which could prevent workers from experiencing adverse mental health conditions. Workers should also be equipped with awareness and skills, as well as opportunities to recognise and act early on mental health issues in order to promote and protect their mental health. Moreover, workers with pre-existing or ongoing mental health conditions should receive support to access job opportunities, or continue working, and thrive at work, since good mental health status at work can improve an individual’s performance and productivity.","PeriodicalId":38537,"journal":{"name":"Malaysian Journal of Public Health Medicine","volume":"134 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135135129","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, there is still lack of report that explore this issue among the urban and rural parents in Malaysia. This study aims to compare the knowledge and attitudes on COVID-19 vaccination for children between parents living in the urban and rural areas of Selangor. Self-administered questionnaire survey was conducted among parents living in urban and rural regions of Selangor. The three-part questionnaire assessed the demographic characteristics, knowledge, positive attitude, and negative attitude towards COVID-19 vaccination for children. Out of 302 respondents, there were 152 (50.3%) rural parents and 150 (49.7%) urban parents. The level of knowledge and positive attitude of urban parents were found to be significantly higher than the rural parents towards COVID-19 vaccination for children. Also, Spearman correlation indicated a moderate positive association between knowledge and positive attitude while there is a weak negative association between knowledge and negative attitude of the parents towards COVID-19 vaccination for children. This study highlighted the knowledge and attitude gaps between rural and urban parents towards COVID-19 immunization for children. The study hypothesized that healthcare students would have good mental health awareness and positive communication with parents about mental health. An online survey composed of 38 items was developed and distributed among the selected students. Results showed that 418 out of 575 participants completed the survey with an 85.7% response rate. The survey questions had high reliability (a Cronbach’s alpha of 0.876), and the factor analysis showed that the survey examined one construct. The findings revealed that there were no significant differences in mental health awareness among students with respect to gender, nationality, and year group, but significant differences were observed between religious groups (p=0.017) and only-child in the family (p=0.026). Male Malaysian students showed a significantly positive parent-student communication score compared to female students (p=0.004) and international students (p=0.040). This study shows positive growth in mental health awareness among students in health-related courses. Although parents’ communication about mental health is affected by factors such as gender and religion; students perceived their parents are supportive regarding mental health issues. Further studies are recommended to explore deep the factors that impact mental health communications.","PeriodicalId":38537,"journal":{"name":"Malaysian Journal of Public Health Medicine","volume":"171 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139348636","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study described delays in medical consultation among women with breast cancer in West Sumatera Province and its related factors. A hospital-based, cross-sectional design was conducted involving 218 respondents. Multiple logistic regression analysis was performed to determine the association between early treatment practices and respondent characteristics, breast cancer knowledge, symptoms, health service utilization, and social capital. The study found that 69.7% of respondents sought health services within three months after the first signs notification. Most of those who postponed medical consultation thought their symptoms did not indicate an illness and were not harmful (48.5%). Delay in medical consultation was related to low education level (OR=4.8, 95% CI: 1.37-16.62) and lower knowledge of breast cancer (OR=2.3, 95% CI: 1.18-4.39) This study found that an increase of one unit in the social capital score resulted in an 11% (0.11) decrease in the odds of delaying medical consultation for breast cancer (95% CI: 0.19-0.02). One-third of breast cancer patients were found to have delayed medical consultation, related to lower education level, inadequate knowledge of breast cancer, and lack of social capital. Therefore, education on the importance of prompt medical consultation should reach all community members. Social capital building is needed to introduce the message of early detection and early treatment of breast cancer for community members to share.","PeriodicalId":38537,"journal":{"name":"Malaysian Journal of Public Health Medicine","volume":"56 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139348789","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
