The converter is designed to connect 1.5 kV battery storage and the 800 V DC link but can operate in other similar configurations. The system is validated experimentally, and tested up to 260 kW rated power but also low power operation is presented. It is shown that the use of state-of-the-art SiC-based power modules allows to reach high power ratings, along with notable frequencies (20 to 25 kHz) and satisfying efficiencies, reaching 98.7% at nominal power. Moreover, interleaved operation leads to high quality of input and output waveforms despite relatively small passive components, Thus, the system can be competitively employed against common IGBT solutions.","PeriodicalId":38493,"journal":{"name":"AUS","volume":"54 1","pages":"1-5"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87919168","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As a rule, a dc-to-dc converter is placed between the fuel cell and the battery, most often a boost converter, which has the role of balancing the power flow between the two sources and increasing the peak power at the output of the hybrid electrical system. In this paper, such a hybrid system on board of an UAV is modeled and analyzed. The system presents a power management based on fuzzy logic, which is responsible for the distribution of the power required by the UAV between the two sources (fuel cell and batteries). The results of the numerical simulation show the ability of the hybrid system to allow the UAV an electric propulsion. The work focuses on the description of the configuration, modeling, and control of the hybrid electric system for a certain electric load requirement.","PeriodicalId":38493,"journal":{"name":"AUS","volume":"11 1","pages":"1-6"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"80211304","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The model uses simulated power data to operate an energy management system (EMS) with shore power and a port energy storage system (ESS) for a green port. Based on the calculated electricity costs, the optimal power output of the energy management system is established such as the rating of the power sources and sizing of the ESS. In the next step, the model is used for system optimization of operating expenses and to improve the availability of the onshore supply system by adjusting the energy sources based on the renewable energy sources (RES) available and the state of charge of the on-shore battery. Finally, the optimal power output profiles of an EMS change based on the availability of RES generation during a sunny and cloudy day. Further, this integrated energy system can be adapted for future green ports supplying multiple vessels with various energy sources such as Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), ammonia, and hydrogen.","PeriodicalId":38493,"journal":{"name":"AUS","volume":"18 1","pages":"1-5"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"81725667","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

EESMs require careful attention to the shape of the stator and rotor in order to maximize their efficiency and performance. Two approaches are commonly used to optimize the shape of EESMs: Finite Element (FE) analysis and analytical modeling. While FE analysis offers high accuracy, it is computationally expensive. Analytical modeling, on the other hand, is faster but less detailed in performance evaluation. This paper presents a fast and effective method for designing EESMs using an analytical magnetic network. The network is designed to find the optimal shape of an EESM based on a variety of sinusoidal component shapes. The paper provides a validation of the analytical model and reports on a parametric computation to obtain a Pareto front for better solutions. Design wellness is evaluated using the low order harmonic and maximum values of no-load flux density.","PeriodicalId":38493,"journal":{"name":"AUS","volume":"1 1","pages":"1-6"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82971075","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To reduce the carbon footprint of railway transport, France wishes to continue electrifying the diesel lines most frequently used. Unfortunately, in the current economic context, the complete electrification of an entire line is not always profitable because of the infrastructure. The deployment of battery trains on certain lines would reduce the use of diesel trains while limiting investment in infrastructure. This article details the point of view of the French infrastructure manager about the installations needed to operate battery trains through the presentation of a test case.","PeriodicalId":38493,"journal":{"name":"AUS","volume":"15 1","pages":"1-5"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83874237","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Such models already run on real-time simulators (RTS) of various suppliers, on FPGA-based simulation platforms. The target is to solve many more applications with the same hardware (HW) in a faster way by decoupling the application from the power electronics. Therefore, it is a goal to adapt existing DC sources by adding a high-speed fiber interface to decouple the application from the power electronics. One common interface specification enables the use of a wide range of products as power amplifiers (battery/cell emulators & testers, machine emulators, dyno drives, universal inverters, grid emulators). An interchangeable fiber optic interface between different RTS platforms will be used to provide low latency and synchronization concepts.","PeriodicalId":38493,"journal":{"name":"AUS","volume":"13 1","pages":"1-5"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87687964","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Among the most effective techniques for estimating the SoC, we find those based on Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS). One of the problems that afflict the EIS is that a single frequency sweep can last too long compared to the need to carry out the evaluation of the SoC online and real-time. This work aims to minimize the time required to perform EIS through a feature selection technique based on Genetic Algorithms. Specifically, an experimental campaign was conducted on 5 different Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries to create a dataset, and a feature selection evaluation strategy was implemented. The obtained results confirmed that it is possible to reduce the time required to perform EIS while maintaining good performance in SoC estimation.","PeriodicalId":38493,"journal":{"name":"AUS","volume":"46 1","pages":"1-6"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87714409","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper discusses existing solutions for decoupling power flow in the MAB and proposes a new strategy. The suggested solution requires an external inductor and two more switches per bidirectional port, and one inductor per output unidirectional port. The theoretical analysis shows that each output port can be controlled independently in all scenarios. The proposed strategy does not require a decoupling matrix, and each port behaves like a separated dual-active bridge converter. In the end, the functionality and performance of the proposal are validated in PLECS simulator, demonstrating an appropriate selection of the inductances can decouple the power flow effectively, besides it reduces the circulating power and enhances the possibility of fault tolerance.","PeriodicalId":38493,"journal":{"name":"AUS","volume":"55 1","pages":"1-7"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89058191","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Traditional recursive least squares (RLS) algorithms have always been dependent on persistently exciting data, which limits their ability to operate online when this cannot be guaranteed. This paper proposed a modified RLS method that selects the data richest point for parameter identification. In this model, Fisher information matrix and Cramer-Rao bound are utilised to evaluate the data richness. The final algorithms solve the operational limitations of RLS algorithms, enabling a reliable online model parameter identification under real-world dynamic conditions. The identified model parameters from the single cycle dynamic stress test (DST) of an NCM battery are verified by terminal voltage and state of charge (SoC) estimation with the Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) 0.0332 and 0.0131, respectively.","PeriodicalId":38493,"journal":{"name":"AUS","volume":"4 1","pages":"1-6"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89094162","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
