It has been stated that Mykola Lukash most often fixed in his file-cabinet those turns that were taken from folk materials in the writings of Borys Grinchenko and from the first part of the writer’s work “In front of the Wide World” (1907). In the file-cabinet of Mykola Lukash better preserved units, selected from Ukrainian folk tales in the writings of Borys Grinchenko. However, the final conclusions about the influence of Borys Grinchenko’s heritage on the idiolect of Mykola Lukash can only be made after a detailed analysis of the whole set of units, the source of which are the works of Borys Grinchenko, as well as after the discovery of these turns in Lukashev’s texts. Ukrainian linguistics is only at the approaches to developing this problem.","PeriodicalId":377023,"journal":{"name":"Studia Philologica","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124214077","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Media discourse is seen as an influential tool which, on the one hand, reflects what is going on in the world, but on the other, influences people’s views on different subjects whether they are political or economic ones forming some specific stereotypical images. Gender stereotypes impose certain behavioural models on men and women prescribing social roles as well as outlining their activities and choices in various social and professional fields. The media in its turn is a reflection of gender marked expectations imposed on both men and women by society.\u0000\u0000The SketchEngine and LancsBox have been used to process the collocates with WOMEN concentrating mostly on the following ones: empower+WOMEN; encourage+WOMEN; help+WOMEN; WOMEN+take; young+WOMEN; WOMEN+and. The corpus analysis together with critical discourse analysis have been applied to interpret the obtained results with further comparative analysis. The study proves that the way how women are depicted in the news stories have changed greatly over the period of 20 years’ time. The media discourse of recent years offers images when women are empowered, encouraged and helped. Women as active agents with the verb “take” are also depicted in the latest articles. The collocates showing WOMEN’s connections are similar for both corpora, which are MEN and CHILDREN. The most frequently discussed topics of the years 2020-2021 touch upon education, career prospects, relationships, defending personal dignity, becoming more independent; while the media discourse of the beginning of 21st century mostly presents fields of education and work. Young women are shown in troublesome situations in 2001-2002 newspaper articles, whereas 2020-2021 young women demonstrate a confident position in society. The further research perspectives can deal with the study of Ukrainian media discourse, which will enable a contrastive analysis of WOMEN discursive representation in British and Ukrainian newspapers.","PeriodicalId":377023,"journal":{"name":"Studia Philologica","volume":"185 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116144008","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Neologisms proved to be the most numerous among the occasionalisms under analysis. They demonstrate negative evaluation connotation primarily that of contempt. The said negative connotations are explicated via word-forming transformations. The most productive and frequent transformations registered in web discourse are: intentional low-case spelling of proper names such as toponyms (official, historical, colloquial or borrowed names of countries and territories), polysonyms, anthroponyms, names of the highest state institutions; metatheses that distort word structure, paronomasic addition, replacement or capitalizing of letters, \"graphic transcription\", etc. The article focuses on novel secondary designation units that express negative evaluation denoting countries, citizenship, individual nicknames. The paper argues that neologisms generated and used in Ukrainian Facebook reflect individual pragmatics of expressing contempt towards constituents the surrounding reality. The article highlights various structural modifications and \"word play\" involved in the formation of respective secondary designation units","PeriodicalId":377023,"journal":{"name":"Studia Philologica","volume":"227 ","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"113992609","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
