The novel considered in the article, which is far from the last place in the work of the classic, has not been considered before in the aspect of intermedia. In this regard, the main purpose of the article is to analyze the presence of a non-verbal pictorial “language” in a story, to form an idea of an intermedial-ekphrastic representation as a specific artistic technique used by Pu Songling. On the basis of the material of the story, a particular case of the writer using an ecphrastic description of a painted wall, which is based on the principle of highlighting the motive of mystical “revival”, is considered. In the course of the study, it was possible to find out that the manner of the ecphrastic description of the painting presented in the novel is built precisely in the aspect of intermedia, that is, from the point of view of the representation of the non-verbal artistic “language” in verbal discourse.","PeriodicalId":376664,"journal":{"name":"St. Petersburg University Studies in Social Sciences & Humanities. Alexeyev translated and studied Liaozhai according to the new “artistic requirements” in the Soviet era, that is: 1) the requirement to introduce the real Chinese language and art works to the Russian and Soviet people and show his translation talent; 2) the requirement to adapt to the historical culture and aesthetic psychology of the Russian nation and meet the needs of the Russian people; 3) the requirement to conform to the popular social trend of thought among Russian humanistic intellectuals at the turn of the 19th–20th century, and to introduce Oriental wisdom; 4) the requirement to communicate with Pu Songling, an ancient Chinese writer who has common ground in life experience and social ideal, and to express his inner feelings and resonance. However, when it comes to contemporary literati, the scope of writers influenced by Liao Zhai zhi yi and those who revere this masterpiece is in no way limited by Mo Yan only. In such dimensions as literary style, approach to subject selection, character depiction and others, Liao Zhai zhi yi in one way or another exerted an influence over other writers. This paper deals with the influence exerted by Liao Zhai zhi yi on the linguistic consciousness, moral concepts and character depiction in contemporary Chinese literature, using Sun Li, Wang Zengqi and Gao Xiaosheng as examples. The clear and polished writing of Liao Zhai zhi yi, being exquisitely melodic throughout, the praise it gives to the persons who put morals and friendship before material possessions and are unwilling to forgo them even faced with the choice between life and death as well as the depiction of female characters — all of this served as an example and an inspiration for Sun Li, Wang Zengqi and Gao Xiaosheng.","PeriodicalId":376664,"journal":{"name":"St. Petersburg University Studies in Social Sciences & Humanities. M. Yulsky. The mystical, mythological, adventure aspects are studied. The image of the fox spirit in Chinese culture, in particular, in the collection of stories Liao Zhai zhi yi (17th century) by the Chinese writer Pu Songling, is researched. The emphasis is placed on the cult of immortal foxes in Manchuria in the 19th — first half of the 20th century. I argue that Rouge transforms two narrative structures of traditional Chinese literature — Caizi-jiaren (scholar-beauty) and the “historical ghost tale” — to foreground the particular temporality of Hong Kong. Firstly, the returning of the female ghost and her failure in pursuit of love intensifies the conflict between the modern linear time and the cosmological ghostly time and poignantly manifests the impossibility of a fifty-year unchanged commitment. Secondly, unlike traditional “historical ghost tales” in which ghosts were called back by traumas of the collapse of old dynasties, the revenant of the heroin in this film returns to the living world for the prearranged trauma of the future, due to the particular temporality of countdown Hong Kong has confronted since 1982. The countdown forced Hong Kong to enter a circular time and to experience the prearranged calamity in the future. The main idea of the book is expressed through a dialogue mundap 問答 between two scholars: Jeong Gam (鄭鑑) and Yi Shim (李沁). It is not known whether they were real or imagined characters, or prototypes of any real historical figures. The Writings also include prophecies made by other scholars who lived earlier. There have been several texts written either in hanmun or in ǒnmun. In the Veritable Records of the Joseon dynasty (朝鮮王朝 實錄, Joseon wangjo sillok) it is first mentioned in 1782. The tale tells about the journey of a man who, after having been lost at sea, visits two imaginary worlds. Luosha Haishi reveals its originality when comparing both these places. The first one, the Country of Rakshasas, is a state in which physical appearance determines one’s social status. This society is a satirical portrayal mirroring Pu’s vision of Qing China officialdom. Conversely, the City of the Sea, the character’s second place of stay, is a utopian undersea place where the character knows immediate success. S. Bayer in the two-volume Museum Sinicum (St. Petersburg, 1730) in Latin. In Russian, the primary information about Yi-jing became available to the reader half a century later thanks to the coryphaeus of Russian sinology of the 18th century A. L. Leontiev. In 1782, he published an illustrated and commented translation of a fragment from Yi-jing (named Convenient Base) as an appendix to his translation of the Manchu text of the Statutes of the Great Qing (大清會典, Dai-Qing hui-dian). A. L. Leontiev called the French abbot, who visited St. Petersburg in 1769, the initiator of his appeal to the Yi-jing, but did not indicate his name. P. E. Skachkov after V. S. Kolokolov decided that he was the famous French Jesuit missionary and versatile scientist A. Gaubil. However, he died ten years earlier. Most likely the interlocutor of A. L. Leontiev was a well-known theologian and economist-physiocrat, French abbot N. Baudeau, who held confidential negotiations with Catherine II in 1769 in St. Petersburg about the situation in Poland. The secrecy of this mission on the eve of the first partition of Poland fully explains the concealment of his name in 1782, when he was still alive and brewing the second partition. Apparently, a look at the Yi-jing of the French enlighteners and physiocrats, reported by N. Baudeau to A. L. The general specificity of the perception of the historical figure of Peter the Great by the Chinese in the 19th — early 20th centuries is established. The reason for the popularity of Peter the Great is explained. After the Korean War, the DPRK leadership sent talented youth to Moscow to get an education. The New Republic needed qualified specialists to build a new state. Yang Won Sik graduates from VGIK in 1958 and stays in the USSR. He devoted many years to the life of the Kazakhfilm Studio and the republican newspaper Kore Ilbo. Yang Won Sik was a member of the Union of Writers of the USSR (1990) and Kazakhstan, a member of the Union of Cinematographers of the USSR, a member of the international PEN Club. The prose by Yang Won Sik written in a dialect of the province of Hamken conveys the historical “time — space” through the system of images and, in particular, verbal images. The author introduces the reader to the panorama of events of the beginning of the last century to the present. In his works of the 1950s and 1980s, Yang Won Sik uses Koryo mar in artistic speech. In the stories describing the events of the early twentieth century, the language of the Far Eastern Koreans is different.
