Hence this study was undertaken using a qualitative technique to investigate students' perceptions of the Peer feedback strategies their teachers employ to improve English vocabulary learning among them. The population of this study consisted of all the enrolled students in the high schools in the city of Multan. By using a convenient sampling technique, 22 students were recruited to collect the data from conducting interviews. The findings of the study indicate that ESL teachers incorporate various helpful peer feedback techniques in their teaching practices that enable students to reinforce their language knowledge and enhance their vocabulary knowledge. These approaches include vocabulary games and vocabulary quizzes. Along with ESL teachers, the management authorities must give support to the faculty members to ensure their success.","PeriodicalId":365110,"journal":{"name":"Global Language Review","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125323062","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study's objectives are to (1) identify the challenges of teaching English grammar to secondary school students, (2) examine ways to improve it, and (3) prioritize solutions. This descriptive study was quantitative. All secondary public school English teachers in Vehari were studied. The researcher randomly sampled. The study used a nine-subscale questionnaire (Alam, 2005). Researchers administered a questionnaire to nearly 150 secondary school teachers during in-person visits.Percentage, mean score, and standard deviation yielded the findings. The survey found that secondary school English teachers dislike teaching grammar since they need a background. In secondary school, English grammar teachers require excellent training. The audio-lingual strategy also worked better for English teachers. Teachers think English grammar is complex. Teacher training may inspire secondary school students to study English grammar and language. This study may aid high school grammar teachers.","PeriodicalId":365110,"journal":{"name":"Global Language Review","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133512918","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The head of one phrase is moved independently to attach to the head of a higher phrase in an apparently simple action known as head movement [X goes to Y]. The data was collected through recording of fourteen classes of the teachers. The recorded classes were transcribed manually for understanding the syntactic structures. Transcribed data of classes have total 27194 words [male transcribed words 14132 and female transcribed words 13062]. The frequency of the head-movement was analysed qualitatively and quantitatively through tabulations. The findings suggest that the syntactic structures of the selected fourteen teachers have head-movement with its two types; V-to-T and T-to-C. The result shows that the occurrences of head movement operation are 803 and the percentage is 2.952 %.","PeriodicalId":365110,"journal":{"name":"Global Language Review","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132017187","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The present study was conducted to explore the issues of language learning by science students at the University of Lahore. A mix-method was used in which both quantitative and qualitative techniques were employed on a population size of 150 participants. A survey questionnaire was prepared to collect data for achieving the objective of the present study. The questionnaire was comprised of two parts. A close-ended questionnaire and one open-ended question were used for data collection. The goal of the 12-question survey was to find out what students thought about the problems science students had learning English in four main areas: reading, writing, listening, and speaking, as well as the overall learning environment in science classes. Based on the survey results, we calculated the mean and standard deviation of science major students' views on the challenges of learning English in their science classrooms. According to the qualitative findings, the poor English language proficiency of scientific students is attributable to the traditional teaching methods employed in science classrooms.","PeriodicalId":365110,"journal":{"name":"Global Language Review","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121104000","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Traumatization can be used as a process in literature and is frequently and intricately linked to pain in ways one does not fully comprehend. This research study follows one of the types of textual analysis, i.e., the Content Qualitative Method introduced by Bernard Berelson (1952) in communication research, which demonstrates that ‘content analysis is a research technique for the objective, systematic, and quantitative description of clear content of the communication. It also analyzes the reactions of the victimized characters to the horrific incidents they encountered. As a result of being traumatized by slavery and murdering her own daughter, Sethe suffers the most visible split. It builds a bridge between the events in the narrative and the readers' imaginations to get to know the psychology of victims in an altered state of consciousness.","PeriodicalId":365110,"journal":{"name":"Global Language Review","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121159039","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The main object of the study was to find the factors to cause students' silence in English language (L2) classrooms at one of the Government Universities (CS 2nd year). Applying the qualitative real ethnographic research design; with effective classroom observations (using the observation sheet adopted from Jim King) and semi-structured interviews. The study analyzed that there are some notable learning factors, (such as anxiety, fear, lack of confidence, lack of L2 knowledge and L1 interference) that impact the student's participation in the L2 classroom resulting in silence. Such issues directly affect students' speaking proficiency, and confidence to talk and participate in activities in L2 classroom. The study will be helpful for teachers, curriculum designers and policymakers to overcome the factors causing silence.","PeriodicalId":365110,"journal":{"name":"Global Language Review","volume":"51 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133463294","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A total of 15 papers were collected to compare vocabulary assessing practices of public and private sector universities. The research centres on checking how well the semester papers of English General assess the vocabulary knowledge compared to devised aims and objectives. The methodology preferred to conduct the study is case study methodology under the qualitative research approach's paradigm. The findings reveal that both universities' sectors test a fraction of words on a superficial level in reading and writing skills in examinations. Both universities follow the old method of testing vocabulary, which cannot guarantee communicative competence in students. However, Public sector Universities are giving more emphasis on checking vocabulary in examination papers. The study suggests revising the overall assessment criterion and course objectives related to vocabulary, which entails updating current teaching and testing practices as a whole.","PeriodicalId":365110,"journal":{"name":"Global Language Review","volume":"370 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115894805","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Communication hinges on instinctive and precise word recognition skills, so a learner needs to be equipped with adequate vocabulary knowledge for fluency. Yet, this process of gaining fluency becomes suffocating for EFL (English as a Foreign Language) learners when they come across unknown words and this often results in giving up reading or making zero effort to understand the meaning of a text.This shows that learners lack the ability to gain knowledge of handling unknown words. For this purpose, various kinds of vocabulary tests have been constructed through time. This study aims to get together the notion of errors in vocabulary assimilation and use, the development of vocabulary assessment and the incorporation of some remedial measures that can help Pakistani BS learners improve their English lexical assimilation.","PeriodicalId":365110,"journal":{"name":"Global Language Review","volume":"72 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132574272","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Hegel's concept of 'Self and Other' further clarifies the process of Self-consciousness involving the factors of Desire, Recognition, Thinking and Reason. In The Reluctant Fundamentalist, the protagonist, Changez becomes the victim of questionable identity after the 9/11 event in America.
