The courses of ELP are not concerned to teach particular terms and phrases to translate texts with the teaching technique of the Grammar Translation method (GTM). Pakistan has been active in participating in International Relations. Therefore, it is significant to expect the attached course of ESP that could facilitate learners in preparation for their career in international outlook. Under this principle, the current theme of the paper is envisioned to give the layout of ELP courses that could tailor to the needs of law undergraduate students in Sindh Law College, Hyderabad. This course is proposed to design its foundation on content-based instruction. The issues are perceived through various angles in different ELP settings. The proposed plan for ELP courses is expected beneficial for teachers and students that are involved in the development of ELP courses in various renowned Universities in Pakistan.","PeriodicalId":365110,"journal":{"name":"Global Language Review","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121234842","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this study, cognitive (schematic) and linguistic analysis are hybridized at lexical, syntactic and pragmatical levels to find out the results. The study is mixed in its nature and there have been utilized Atomistic Morphological Analysis Method, Syntactic Analysis (Jegede, 2020) and Cognitive Pragmatic Communication Theory (Sperber & Wilson, 2004). Frequent use of first-person pronouns, declarative sentences and other utterings denotes that the speaker is intended to keep the speech relevant to the aspects like power, hegemony and ideology. Furthermore, cognitive linguistic analysis reveals that the speaker is determined to present his agenda as positive ourselves and negative other-selves for the promotion of his own hegemonic agenda which is wrapped in the ideology.","PeriodicalId":365110,"journal":{"name":"Global Language Review","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129741439","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The objectives of the study were; 1) to find out the availability of resources in English teaching and 2) to explore the utilization of availing resources in the teaching of English. A descriptive research methodology was used for this study. The study's population consisted of all secondary school teachers responsible for instructing their students in English. A total of 400 secondary school instructors were chosen randomly for the study. The study relied on a questionnaire with 21 questions. In pilot testing, the questionnaire had an overall reliability of 0.83. Based on the findings, few modern resources are useful for English teachers in the classroom. Whiteboards, blackboards, charts, and other visual aids are commonly used in classrooms to teach English. English language teachers in Pakistan's Punjab province need more English language teaching (ELT) materials in their classrooms.","PeriodicalId":365110,"journal":{"name":"Global Language Review","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133086916","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Pakistan, a formerly colonised country, falls under this category. Numerous writers have written works that address this subject, including Sara Suleri and Bapsi Sidhwa. This investigation focuses on ethnic politics and religious issues in Pakistan. India was divided in 1947, and the new countries of India and Pakistan were born. Nonetheless, since East Pakistan (Bangladesh) broke out in 1971 due to ethnic politics, significant issues with national identity have been highlighted. This study's main objective is to explain why ethnic politics and religious conflicts have become worse in Pakistan after it broke apart from previous United India. Governmental elites in developing countries abuse their population based on their ethnicity. As a result, racial and religious tensions in the country erupted. It helps to comprehend Fanon's views on neocolonialism in this case.The book Ice-Candy Man and the memoir Meatless Days were closely read (textually analysed) for this study.","PeriodicalId":365110,"journal":{"name":"Global Language Review","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126769028","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One reason of such a large scale failure may be an inappropriate content of the textbooks. The study assumed that the content of Grade XI English (Compulsory) Textbooks did not cater to the interests of the students. Qualitative and quantitative data was collected by Questionnaire from 500 randomly selected students. The analysis demonstrated that content of the subject textbooks evoked antagonistic feelings in the learners which cause failure. The study suggests that a course-content that arrests and maintains attention of learners by designing such activities as are absorbing and inspiring is mandatory to make class environment lively and learning conducive. It is high time that we upgrade the standard of our English textbooks because to be poor in English costs substantially high due to its comprehensive market.","PeriodicalId":365110,"journal":{"name":"Global Language Review","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130878066","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study seeks to investigate the representation of gender in English textbooks for grade IX published by the Punjab Textbook Board (PTB), Pakistan. In order to assess the textbook from a gender perspective, the qualitative research method was employed. The text is examined using content analysis from a gender viewpoint. In this study, secondary data watches the main subject. According to the data, the grade IX English textbook from the Punjab textbook board has more phrases that are specifically slang for men. Additionally, there is a representation of female gender-specific terminology in the ninth-grade English textbook. Despite the Constitution of Pakistan of 1973's stated intention to reduce gender imbalances, male supremacy permeates all of the themes and sub-themes. It is observed that the government, textbook boards, and curriculum directorate should ensure an equal distribution of information for both sexes to boost women’s visibility in Pakistan.","PeriodicalId":365110,"journal":{"name":"Global Language Review","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115365528","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
