This study, in particular, seeks to understand why workplace harassment is not reported, as well as the elements that contribute to a victim becoming a bystander. The study investigated the subject at educational institutions. For the purpose of sampling, a public sector university, the University of Okara, was selected. In-depth interviews of the female faculty members at different departments of the university were conducted with their consent and confidentiality as a priority. A comprehensive literature review was conducted prior to the design of this research study to determine the sensitivity of the subject. This paper has explained different forms of harassment one can face, as well as the Protection Against Women at Workplace Act 2010. This paper examined both the legal framework and popular perceptions about it. A well-structured questionnaire was created to conduct the interviews. The data collected was then analyzed using descriptive and inferential research methodologies.","PeriodicalId":363339,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Higher Education and Development Studies (JHEDS)","volume":"103 12","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141821522","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Teachers use different stress-coping strategies to focus on teaching tasks. The study was conducted to analyze the occupational stress of female primary school teachers and their coping strategies. The objectives were to (i) investigate the stress level and major occupational stressors among female primary school teachers and (ii) explore coping strategies for female primary teachers' stresses. All the female primary school teachers serving in the 630 primary schools of Tehsil Sargodha were the population, out of which 50% (315) female primary schools were selected randomly, and one teacher from each school was conveniently selected. Two self-developed rating scales with reliability coefficient values of 0.85 and 0.79 were research instruments. The data analysis was carried out using percentages, frequency, t-tests, and ANOVA. Results revealed that all female primary school teachers were highly stressed and adopted coping strategies in order to encounter stress. The recommendation is that head teachers should support teachers in school affairs and involve them in decision-making.","PeriodicalId":363339,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Higher Education and Development Studies (JHEDS)","volume":" 5","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141834118","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Terrorism, Reconstruction, and Great-Power Rivalry is an interesting book that comprises ten chapters and in the first one, the editors introduced the remaining nine chapters. Experts from different regions with rich and current data threw light on the future of Afghanistan in a well-organized manner. It is an exciting voyage of understanding the enigma that is Afghanistan. It is an enriching narrative of the push and pull factors that influenced political developments in Afghanistan in the 21st century. After the withdrawal, the US imposed economic sanctions to pressure the Taliban for concessions and also engaged them to prevent Afghanistan from swinging to China. India lost much of its influence in Afghanistan after the US withdrawal. In September 2023, China became the first country to formally name a new ambassador to Afghanistan after the Taliban takeover. The book has analyzed the domestic politics and perspectives on the foreign relations of Afghanistan under the Taliban.","PeriodicalId":363339,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Higher Education and Development Studies (JHEDS)","volume":"21 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141652124","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The research employs a survey methodology, gathering data from 778 secondary school teachers to explore how these teacher traits directly impact student outcomes and how the school environment potentially mediates such effects. Results from structural model analysis using Smart-PLS4 indicate that teacher empathy and motivation directly enhance student academic achievement. However, when mediated by the sense of school belongingness, the effects, while still positive, appear less potent. As a result, direct teacher-student interactions have a greater impact on student outcomes than broader educational environments. In addition to pointing out the important role of teacher behaviors in educational success, these findings suggest that enhancing teacher empathy and motivation may be more effective than improving school environments alone. Study implications extend beyond the immediate educational setting, offering insights into effective strategies for teacher development and student engagement. To validate these findings further and explore additional mediating factors, future research should consider broader demographic variables and include objective measures.","PeriodicalId":363339,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Higher Education and Development Studies (JHEDS)","volume":"94 4","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141835685","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This quantitative inquiry takes on the task of lensing corporate policies in Pakistan from a feminist perspective, with a sample of 200 women from different sectors. Pakistan's abysmal state of gender inequality is highlighted by its rank of 155th out of 162 countries in the Gender Development Index (GDI), revealing significant disparities. Maternity leave policies are decreed as dissatisfactory (21.3%) and mediocre (23.9%), calling for more supportive and inclusive measures with negative impacts on work-life balance (33.6%) and career trajectory (47.4%). Salary structures are marked by discontent (28.9% dissatisfied, 22.0% very dissatisfied), representing potentially egregious gender-based disparities. Beliefs in gender parity for promotions and salary increases are minuscule (44.2% disagreement). Transparency issues loom large (54.2% communication, 48.2% promotion criteria), suggesting the dire need for improved organizational communication. Harassment policies breed mixed perceptions and are deemed ineffective (35.9%). The findings call for organizational intervention and outline key strategies for the ecosystem of work in Pakistan to forge a more gender-equitable workplace.","PeriodicalId":363339,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Higher Education and Development Studies (JHEDS)","volume":" 30","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-06-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141374527","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The fourth wave of feminism, with its intersectionality and inclusivism epistemologies, is supported by these works of South Asian fiction. This study is meant to simply interpret the various problems that South Asian women confront on a single level. South Asian scriptures and society both downplay South Asian women. This study has cited Nicola Rivers' Fourth Wave of Feminism theory, which contends that these ideas of inclusion, intersectionality, and uniqueness are addressed by this wave. This new movement clarifies the concepts of plurality and variety. This study draws on third-world women's idea of Chandra Talpade Mohanty to bolster Rivers' understanding of feminism in the South Asian context. According to the results of this study, the fourth wave of feminism shares certain similarities with the preceding three waves. Men and women from poor countries are represented. The idea of \"intersectionality\" reveals the nuanced character of women's experiences with marginalization and oppression. In light of this study's emphasis on intersectionality and inclusivism, it is expected to advance knowledge in feminist studies.","PeriodicalId":363339,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Higher Education and Development Studies (JHEDS)","volume":"20 23","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-06-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141379866","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
