The present paper deals with 2 techniques that provided enjoyable and skill-enhancing for the learners: team teaching and email writing. Team teaching is most common in the domain of foreign language teaching. Successful team teaching has the potential to benefit all concerned. Teachers stand to gain in terms of their professional development. Team teaching provides teachers with a partner to help them set objectives, make plans, implement lessons and evaluate the results, they have someone from whom they can draw inspiration and who can provide them with constructive feedback on their teaching. Learners have 2 teachers to learn from. The e-mail provides a context for real-world communication and authentic interactions. By connecting foreign language speakers outside of the classroom, e-mail also provides a context for communicating with other speakers in authentic communicative situations. Interaction via e-mail lends a feeling of reality to students and it is much like spoken language because of its informal and interactive nature.","PeriodicalId":36159,"journal":{"name":"Scientific Bulletin of Naval Academy","volume":"62 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135860671","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Starting from the existing realities in the structure of seafaring personnel in the merchant marine, this paper presents the particularities of mentoring for a career in the maritime field. Among the aspects identified and highlighted in the mentoring process, the research focuses on the process of understanding maritime risks and the importance of safety culture on board ships, both by cadets and junior officers, who are at the beginning of their careers at sea. The investigation is based on a survey conducted on a significant number of subjects between 2018-2023. The developed research methodology was used to underlie the items in the questionnaires, on the basis of which the survey was carried out. The questionnaires were established by the data triangulation method and by consulting maritime stakeholders. Considering both the common aspects, specific to life at sea, but also the particular elements, which relate to the responsibilities on board the ship, the proposals received from all departments on board the ship were centralized. The questionnaires were developed based on the contributions received from: representatives of companies in the maritime industry, seafaring personnel at managerial and operational level (from the deck, engine and electrical departments), responsible in the field of risk and safety in the maritime industry, cadets and junior officers, at the beginning of their career at sea. The results of the survey were centralized, analyzed and interpreted to establish the level of understanding and perception of maritime risk and safety issues. The resulting conclusions can be used by the interested factors for the development and consolidation of appropriate, adapted and customized projects in the field of maritime safety and risk management on board ships, dedicated to cadets/ junior officers.","PeriodicalId":36159,"journal":{"name":"Scientific Bulletin of Naval Academy","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135860414","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In addition to the problems caused by COVID – 19, the maritime industry continues its struggle with other challenges, such as climate, economic, social changes, the new generation of industry 4.0 technologies, especially autonomous ships, which requires the maritime industry to be ready to accept these challenges as an opportunity rather than a threat. This paper will look at global shipbuilding situations, the biggest shipping companies, which countries have the most ships, where the ships are registered and which are the most famous merchant fleet recycling areas. The paper will also analyze the situation of the maritime industry, in recent years, regarding the transport of goods at the global, European and national level in order to have an overall perspective of the importance of the maritime industry as well as the statistics for each situation.","PeriodicalId":36159,"journal":{"name":"Scientific Bulletin of Naval Academy","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135860676","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of the areas where these changes have begun to manifest themselves is leadership. In this study, leadership, which is one of the indispensable prerequisites for an effective education, will be discussed in the context of digital education. For this purpose, the characteristics of a leader who aims to maximize student satisfaction and educational achievement in the digital classroom context are investigated. In addition to the literature review, the opinions of experienced teachers were also taken into consideration while collecting the data. The findings reveal that the skills that a good e-leader should possess can be categorized under six headings. These are consistency, inclusiveness, empathy, technological and pedagogical competence, and strong ethical values. The study also explores what each group encompasses and what skills good digital leadership may require in the coming years.","PeriodicalId":36159,"journal":{"name":"Scientific Bulletin of Naval Academy","volume":"66 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135860412","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This method does not consider the different learning styles and preferences of individuals. It assumes that all learners have similar learning styles and can learn by hearing or seeing. Didactic teaching refers to a teaching approach where the teacher is the primary source of information and directs the learning process. In this approach, the teacher assumes the role of an expert and imparts knowledge to the students in a one-way communication process, with little or no interaction or collaboration. Simulation didactic activities are an effective way to prepare students and professionals for realworld situations by providing a safe environment where they can practice and gain experience. However, the effectiveness of simulation activities depends on the quality of teaching and evaluation methods used. The aim is to make a comparative study of the teaching and evaluation methods used in the simulator training which will ensure quality learning.","PeriodicalId":36159,"journal":{"name":"Scientific Bulletin of Naval Academy","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135860659","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

They are reliable energy sources for boats and ships as some of the PV technologies are flexible and can be located on plane surfaces or even on the water surface especially when the ships dock at sea or at the seashore. However, the operation of PV systems depends on several weather factors, and it is important to predict their operation to manage the controllable load. Furthermore, it is essential to know if the PV systems generate in surplus or additional energy is required to cover the load. The surplus can be offered for local trading or aggregated and offered for centralized markets. Therefore, in this paper, we aim to predict the output of the PV systems using machine learning algorithms and recurrent neural networks (RNN), especially a multivariate Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) model. Data extraction, feature engineering, and forecast of the PV power are depicted and the simulations are performed using 4 PV systems located in Constanta County. The results are assessed with prediction performance metrics such as RMSE, MAPE, etc.","PeriodicalId":36159,"journal":{"name":"Scientific Bulletin of Naval Academy","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135860663","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Cross-cultural communication refers to the many ways the different peoples of the world communicate with each other verbally and non-verbally. Multinational crews are very common for the vessels nowadays. Indeed, the verbal communication is made in English, but the levels of speaking skill in English differ substantially from one crewmember to another. They sometimes strive to formulate ideas, to exchange information and knowledge between individuals, and between crew and management ashore. Having this setback it is outstanding how people from different cultural backgrounds having different mother languages can overcome cultural barriers well enough to be able to even use humour on board.","PeriodicalId":36159,"journal":{"name":"Scientific Bulletin of Naval Academy","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135860673","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
