While the dominant and official narratives emphasis on ethnicity as a sole factor to explain contemporary Ethiopian politics in general and the ongoing political crisis in particular, this paper argues that ethnic and religious determinants are deeply intertwined in Ethiopian political and conflictual dynamism. The current political transformation and related political violence and the country’s upcoming future can only better explained by interplay of ethno and religious factors at local, regional and international levels. Despite the masking role of ethnicity over religious motives at least in official term, there is a tendency of developments in which the latter overwhelms the former which will expose the country for external manipulation and destabilization. The grievances that provoke ethno-religious tensions have most often demonstrated through ethnic unrests, bitter political dissidents often stoked by political elites, direct and indirect foreign actor’s involvement, social media activities and violent incidents. In view of the current events unfolding in the country, the paper argued that ethnic factors alone cannot explain Ethiopia’s political crisis, but ethno-religious mingles. The arguments in this paper are supported by both secondary and primary sources and with consideration of the violent incidents and their implications in multicultural contexts of Ethiopian Society. If two or more countries cooperate in the development of the military industry, then these activities have direct and indirect implications in Defense Diplomacy. For NATO members like Turkey, they are bound by the Single Europe Act: consolidation and contraction of the defense industry. Likewise, the geographical region of Indonesia has \"ASEAN Ways\" as an ethical foundation in maintaining the same relations with ASEAN countries. However, Turkey, in collaboration with Indonesia can develop and produce a prototype Medium Tank that is in great demand from other countries so that it not only impacts on the economic benefits and military strategy itself but influences the strategies and attitudes of other countries. The study aims to explain the multi-effects of developing Medium Tank cooperation between Turkey and Indonesia. Through the case study approach method, it can be understood that collaboration between the development of military industry between countries can increase Defense Diplomacy as a national defense leveraging, namely, Confidence Building Measure (CBM) that affects the environment of direct and indirect strategies. Thus Defense Diplomacy not only builds relationships with opposing or future opponents but is also able to become a leveraging that makes state-of-the-art technology a game-changer. Ghana, which is known to be the gateway to Africa has received enormous trade facilities through the country’s Maritime Authority. This study took a step in the maritime industry to assess how international trade does affect the shipping industry and to investigate measures undertaken by the country to facilitating international trade. The study, however, gave depth insight in facilitating international trade in Ghana shippers’ authority. The target population for the study were persons at various levels of management of the Ghana Shipping Authority (GSA). Thirty (30) respondents were used for the study. The study had a blend of qualitative and quantitative research design to make it flexible for the researchers to gather enough data for it. The findings revealed that the Shippers Authority in Ghana is financed through the revenue it generates from its operations, publications and warehousing (Facilitation of trade, rendering of Freight Service, Mobiship). And again, the Authority has also instituted various programmes that enhance their trade globally such as the MOU with landlocked countries in West Africa and the Union of African Shippers. All these activities have brought about transformation in developing the trade countries in the area of good transport systems, harmonizing of shipping and policies, axle load regime and international facilitation of forums: MOWCA, IMO and the World Shippers forum. Programmes such as the Ghana Community Network (GCNet) and Sealed Grid System (SGS) are also being used by the authority to track secure passage of transit cargo. Despite many hopes and expectation, the restructuring of the country under ethnic federalism doomed to consolidate ethnic peace. Besides, the political economy of ‘developmental state’ has become the state ideology following the disgraceful 2005 national election in the country. However, sporadic ethnic-based conflict and animosities become the rule of the game and pose a serious challenge to the state-building project of replicating East Asian version of developmental state ideology. The politics of identity and representation, ethnicity and language issues, secession claims, and unsettled regional boundary issues polarised the country and the aspiration of the state to build a democratic developmental state in the Horn of Africa.
