The issue is raised imaging behavior of a politician(candidate) is not necessarily the same as the real character and personality. Defense mechanism is one of the studies in psychology that can provide insight and understanding of the political imagery. Sigmund Freud explained that the defense mechanisms are not conscious effort to show the process that protects the individual from anxiety through the perversion of reality. Keywords: political imagery, defense mechanism Pencitraan politik merupakan salah satu cara yang berpotensi untuk menggiring dan merayu rakyat terhadap pilihan politiknya. Permasalahannya adalah perilaku pencitraan yang dimunculkan seorang politisi (calon) belum tentu sama dengan karakter dan kepribadian yang sesungguhnya. Mekanisme pertahanan diri (defense mechanism) merupakan salah satu kajian dalam psikologi yang dapat memberikan pandangan dan pemahaman mengenai pencitraan politik. So that the assumption and image of most people that Sufism as a teaching that focuses on individual piety and ritual is rejected. Because, Sufism should be an alternative answer to the problematic pluralist society and universal social change. Therefore the research will try to focus on the work of one of the influential figures of Thabathaba Sufism by examining the monumental work of al-Mizan. This research comes from primary and secondary data, the main source of course is al-Mizan's interpretation while indirect work is the work of others about Thabathaba`i thinking. The results of this study are Thabathaba'i who carry out the moderate life of Irfan Tasawuf. For him, spiritual life is not running away from life itself. This expression is addressed to those who practice Irfan radically and conservatively. This phenomenon is emphasized by Thabathaba'i to be reformed. Through some of his works, the interpretation of Al-Mizan, he opened his readers' insight while at the same time straightening out a sad understanding of various things, especially Irfan's life. Krisis multidimensional belum juga menunjukkan akan berakhir bahkan telah menimbulkan korban, tidak saja korban material, tetapi juga korban jiwa serta ancaman disintegrasi. Sehingga anggapan dan image sebagian besar orang bahwa tasawuf sebagai sebuah ajaran yang menitikberatkan pada kesalehan individual dan ritual tertolak.Sebab, tasawuf seharusnya bisa menjadi jawaban alternatif atas problematika masyarakat yang pluralis dan perubahan sosial secara universal. Oleh karena itu penelitian akan coba fokus membahas karya salah seorang tokoh tasawuf berpengaruh Thabathaba`i dengan mengkaji karya monumentalnya al-Mizan. Penelitian ini bersumber dari data primer dan sekunder, sumber utama tentu tafsir al-Mizan sedangkan karya yang tidak langsung adalah karya orang lain tentang pemikiran Thabathaba`i. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah Thabathaba`i seorang yang menjalankan kehidupan Irfan Tasawuf yang moderat. Baginya, kehidupan spiritual bukannya melarikan diri dari kehidupan itu sendiri.Ungkapan ini ditujukan kepada mereka yang mempraktekkan Irfan secara radikal dan konservatif.Gejala ini yang ditekankan Thabathaba`i untuk direformasi. Melalui beberapa karyanya, tafsir Al-Mizan, dia membuka wawasan pembacanya sekaligus meluruskan pemahaman yang miris tentang berbagai hal, terutama kehidupan irfan. Through his works, Speaking in The God’s Name: Islamic Law, Authority, and Woman, Abou El Fadl offers a frame of new methodology in the study of Islamic law by using a hermeneutics approach. Abou El-Fadl’s hermeneutics can be called the negotiated hermeneutics because the core of his hermeneutics analysis is to negotiate the role of the text (al-Qur’an, hadits, and fatwa), author (Mufti, special agent), and reader (Islamic society, common agent) in determining the meaning of authoritative text. These three parties should be a balancing and negotiating progress in which that one party ought not to dominate the determination of meaning. Abou El Fadl’s hermeneutics theory embraces the idea of autonomous and open texts. Therefore, the interpretation of the text does not always focus on efforts to locate the author’s desired intent. Hence, He further argues that integrity of text being damaged, not dynamic, and be unable to perform its functions in responding the challenges and demand of the global era due to the authoritarianism, or interpretative despotism by way of locking the will of the divine behind the text, its interpretation, or fatwa based on certain ideology as performed by those Mufti who speak in God’s name. in short, From above description emphasis the significance of Abou El Fadl’s hermeneutics in contemporary Islamic law studies is to stem the authoritarianism that has become a common phenomenon in the contemporary era. In the 16th and 17th centuries, the influence and power of Aceh Kingdom reached the sumatra Island and Malay peninsula. Also at that time, Aceh kingdom has acheived a lot of progress in the field of education, the development of thought aprreciation of islmaic teaching. Nuruddin Ar-Raniri is one of immigrant moeslim scholar who take part in the development of Islam in Aceh. His big agenda is to straighten agenda out the understanding of Islam which was brought first by his predecessors, they are Hamzah Fansuri and Syamsuddin as-Samatrani. Their Islamic teaching known by wujudiyah, its close with Ibn Arabi’s mystical understanding or wahdatul wujud. According to ar-Raniri, there are three reasons to oppose this teaching. First, wujudiyah is identic with pre-Islmaic belief such as Christianity, Majusi and Brahmani. Second, Wujudiyah same with splinter sects in Islam that emerged after Prophed died, like Mu’tazilah dan Qadariyyah. Third, wujudiyyah is practices of deviant tarekat from Sunni. His opposition was caused basically he was a Sunni scholars who adheres wahdatus Syuhud’s view. While in fiqh, he is an Asy’ariyah follower. His noncompromise actions against the wujudiyah followers were related to his life in India, which was filled with long intolerant conflicts between Hindus and Muslims.Keywords : Nuruddin Ar-Raniri, Wujudiyyah, Sufism Abstrak. Pada abad ke 16 dan 17 M, pengaruh dan kekuasaan kerjaan Aceh telah sangat terasa di kepulauan Sumatera dan Semenanjung Tanah Melayu. Dalam rentan waktu ini pula, kerajaan Aceh telah mencapai banyak kemajuan, terutama dalam bidang pendidikan, perkembangan pemikiran serta penghayatan terhadap ajaran Islam. Nuruddin Ar-Raniri merupakan salah satu ulama’ pendatang yang ikut mewarnai perkembangan Islam di Aceh. Agenda besarnya adalah meluruskan pemahaman Islam yang terlebih dahulu disebarkan oleh Hamzah Fansuri dan Syamsuddin as-Samatrani. Ajaran yang dikenal dengan nama wujudiyah ini dekat dengan pemikiran sufistik ibn Arabi atau wahdatul wujud. Menurut arRaniri, terdapat tiga alasan mengapa ajaran tersebut perlu ditentang. Pertama Wujudiyah identik dengan agama dan kepercayaan pra Islam seperti Nasrani, Majusi dan Brahmaniyah. Kedua, ajaran Wujudiyah sama dengan ajaran sekte-sekte sempalan dalam Islam pasca Rasulullah wafat, seperti Mu’tazilah dan Qadariyyah. Ketiga, Wujudiyyah merupakan pengamalan dari tarekat yang sesat dan menyimpang dari konsep Islam Sunni. Penentangan ini disebabkan karena pada dasarnya ia adalah ulama’ sunni yang menganut paham Wahdatus Syuhud dalam konsep tasawufnya. This is certainly related to the historical-sociological factors of these two institutions born in the local context. This study wants to answer two questions; First, what is the background of the relationship between Alkhairaat and NU in Manado in 1955-1998 and what is the dynamics and pattern characteristics of the Alkhairaat relationship with NU in Manado during 1955-1998. Temporally, this research was restricted from 1955 because this year Alkhairaat built its social relations with NU, which at that time was the party participating in the first election in Indonesia. The final limitation of the study was set in 1998 because this year there was a change in the body of NU by declaring the PKB as a party formed by and for NU citizens, but open to anyone including non-Muslims. Namun di Manado menarik, masyarakat Islam menganggap bahwa Alkhairaat adalah embrio dari NU. Ini tentu terkait dengan faktor historis-sosiologis kedua lembaga ini lahir dalam konteks lokal. Penelitian ini ingin menjawab dua pertanyaan; Pertama, Bagaimana latarbelakang terjalinnya hubungan antara Alkhairaat dan NU di Manado pada tahun 1955-1998 dan Bagaimana dinamika dan karakteristik pola relasi Alkhairaat dengan NU di Manado selama tahun 1955-1998. Secara temporal, penelitian ini dibatasi dari tahun 1955 karena pada tahun inilah Alkhairaat membangun relasi sosialnya dengan NU yang saat itu menjadi partai peserta dalam Pemilu pertama di Indonesia. Adapun batasan akhir penelitian ditetapkan tahun 1998 karena pada tahun ini terjadi perubahan di tubuh NU dengan mendeklarasikan PKB sebagai partai yang dibentuk oleh dan untuk warga NU, namun terbuka bagi siapapun termasuk non-Muslim. This article would try to elaborate an important concept in the Qur’an which deal with the process of revelation. Major of ulama devided the process of revelation into two periods, namely Makkah period (before hijrah) and Madinah period (after hijrah). According to Abdullahi Ahmed An-Na’im and his teacher, Mahmoud Mohamed Taha, this two periods of revelation contains different doctrines and teachings. Makkah period (Makkiyah) expressed a universal-democratic-egalitarianism doctrines of Islam. Whereas, Madinah period (Madaniyyah), is considered to be sectarian and discriminative. In this period, the prophet and his adherents created a city-state with a multi-religious and multi-cultural community. Therefore, they need a concrete and strict rules and regulations to manage the new state and new community. An-Na’im stated that most of the verses in the Qur’an which deal with law and regulations revealed through this period, including the relation between muslim and non-muslim community.Key words: concept, Makkah period, Madinah period, al-Qur’an Abstrak.Artikel ini akan mencoba untuk menguraikan konsep penting dalam Al Qur'an yang berhubungan dengan proses penyataan. Mayoritas ulama membagi proses penyataan menjadi dua periode, yaitu periode Makkah (sebelum hijrah) dan periode Madinah (setelah hijrah).
