This article described the interpretation study carried out by the Mufassir in Indonesia. The term Mufassir is now important to revise in order to have that continuity among identity, tradition, and Al-Qur’an scientific study with their generations. The results showed that the practice of Qur'anic interpretation in Indonesia was spearheaded by Abdurrauf al-Singkil, Sheikh Nawawi al-Bantani, Mahmud Yunus, Ahmad Hasan Muhammad Hashbi Ash-Shiddiqy, HB Jassin, H. Bakri Syahid, Buya Hamka and Muhammad Quraish Shihab. The conclusion told that the style of interpretation in Indonesia contains three main dimensions, namely epistemology (source / method / criteria of Al-Qur'an knowledge), methodology (how to translate the dimensions of normativity of Al-Qur'an), and historical science. Therefore, the subjective nature of the Qur'an text turned into the objective nature of science text and then ethics (functioning the relationship between AlQur'an and social reality).  Keywords : Interpretation, Mufassir, Al-Qur'an  Abstrak. Tulisan ini menguraikan tentang kajian tafsir yang digeluti oleh para Mufassir di Indonesia. Dunia mufassir penting ditinjau kembali agar terjadi kesinambungan identitas, tradisi dan reproduksi keilmuan Al-Qur’an antar generasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa praktik penafsiran Al-Qur’an di Indonesia dipelopori oleh Abdurrauf al-Singkil, Syekh Nawawi al-Bantani, Mahmud Yunus, Ahmad Hasan Muhammad Hashbi AshShiddiqy, H.B Jassin, H. Bakri Syahid, Buya Hamka, Muhammad Quraish Shihab.Kesimpulannya adalah corak kajian tafsir di indonesia mengandung tiga dimensi utama yaitu epistemology (sumber/cara/kriteria pengetahuan Al-Qur’an yang dipakai, metodologi (cara menerjemahkan dimensi normativitas Al-Qur’an yang dipakai), historis ilmu. Dengan demikian, sifat subjektif teks Al-Qur’an berubah menjadi sifat objektif teks ilmu. This paper examined the position of husband and wife in according to Islam. Qs. an-Nisa '[4]: 34 becomes the focus of the reference and analysis on this topic. Qs Study. an-Nisa [4]: 34 highlights a lot about women. This Surah became the liberator of women from the injustice of society towards women since 15 centuries ago. In marriage, husbands are obliged to lead and protect their wives and all family needs, while women on the male side are like body organs on a body, men as heads, and women as bodies. Qs. an-Nisa '[4]: 34 explains the position of men is higher than women, this is intended to reinforce the division of tasks between men as husbands and women as wives. The mention of the words ar-Rijal and an-Nisa  in this verse does not emphasize biological significance, but rather character leadership and social functions. The figure of leadership (qawwam) is generally more dominantly indicated by men than women. The virtue of men in this verse is related to his responsibilities as head of the household. However, al-fadhl (excess) possessed by men does not make men (husbands) doing arbitrarily on their women (wives).  Keywords : Al-Rijal, An-Nisa‟, Qawwamun  Abstrak. Paper ini mengkaji tentang kedudukan suami dan istri dalam Islam. Qs. anNisa’ [4]: 34 menjadi fokus acuan dan analisis tentang topik ini. Kajian Qs. an-Nisa [4]: 34 ini banyak menyoroti tentang perempuan. Surah ini menjadi pembebas perempuan dari ketidakadilan masyarakat terhadap perempuan sejak 15 abad silam. Dalam pernikahan, suami wajib memimpin dan melindungi  isteri serta segala keperluan keluarga, sedangkan wanita di sisi kaum pria adalah laksana organ tubuh dalam raga yang satu, kaum pria sebagai kepala, sedangkan wanita sebagai badannya. Qs. an-Nisa’ [4]: 34 menjelaskan kedudukan laki-laki  lebih tinggi  dari perempuan, hal ini dimaksudkan untuk mempertegas pembagian tugas antara lakilaki sebagai suami dan perempuan selaku isteri. Penyebutan kata ar-Rijal dan anNisa’ dalam ayat ini tidak menekankan pada signifikansi biologis, tetapi lebih kepada kepemimpinan karakter dan fungsi sosial. Sosok kepemimpinan (qawwam) umumnya lebih dominan ditunjukkan oleh kaum laki-laki daripada perempuan. Keutamaan laki-laki dalam ayat ini dihubungkan dengan tanggung jawab nya sebagai kepala rumah tangga. Said","doi":"10.30984/pp.v20i1.748","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.30984/pp.v20i1.748","url":null,"abstract":"Abstract This article elaborate about the neccesity of renewal Islamic theology in the context of pluralism and multiculturalism. One of contemporary Muslim schoolars, Fethullah Gulen, could be considered among the most influential Muslim theologians of our time. His work focus on redefining the nature of Islamic discourse in the contemporary world by doing interreligious and intercultural dialogue. Today, we need to shift our paradigm from classical kalam which dogmatic, abstract, and exclusive to more practical theology based on life and contemporary needs, which is called “social theology”.  Gulen’s theological discourse distinguished for his support of democracy, humanisme, openness to globalization, progressiveness in integrating tradition with modernity, and to make sense of pluralistic-piety. Keyword: Kalam, Social-Theology, Pluralitic-Piety, MulticulturalismeAbstrak. Artikel ini menguraikan tentang necseity pembaharuan teologi Islam dalam konteks pluralisme dan multikulturalisme. Salah satu murid sekolah Muslim kontemporer, Fethullah Gulen, dapat dianggap sebagai salah satu teolog Muslim paling berpengaruh di zaman kita. Karyanya fokus pada mendefinisikan kembali sifat wacana Islam di dunia kontemporer dengan melakukan dialog antaragama dan antarbudaya. Saat ini, kita perlu menggeser paradigma kita dari kalam klasik yang dogmatis, abstrak, dan eksklusif ke teologi yang lebih praktis berdasarkan pada kehidupan dan kebutuhan kontemporer, yang disebut \"teologi sosial\".
