Thinking is one of the most prominent characteristics that characterize humans from other creatures of God, and it is one of the important needs without which human life cannot be upright. It is also considered one of the most urgent modern goals, given the tremendous cognitive development witnessed in this century and the increase in problems for which it seeks solutions. And because a person needs to think at all stages of his life to manage his life affairs, educational institutions are responsible for his development and development. As for us Muslims, the Noble Qur’an urged people to think about the kingdom of God, and made contemplation one of the distinguishing features of people with sound minds, and the Noble Qur’an always describes them as contemplating the creation of the heavens and the earth. There are many definitions of thinking, some of them see it as: the process by which the mind organizes its experiences in a new way to solve a specific problem, so that this process includes the realization of new relationships between the subjects or elements in the situation to be resolved, such as realizing the relationship between premises and results, and realizing the relationship between cause and effect. And between the general and the particular, and between something known and another unknown. As for its specific meaning, it is limited to solving problems mentally by means of symbols, that is, solving problems with the mind, not with the act. It was also known as: the ability to analyze, criticize, and reach results based on sound deduction or inference and sound judgment. {"title":"Investigating the Alignment of the Linguistics and Literature Final Examination Questions with Relevant Learning Objectives at University Level","authors":"","doi":"10.51424/ishq.33.30","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.51424/ishq.33.30","url":null,"abstract":"The purpose of this research is to investigate the alignment of the final examination questions of two EFL courses, viz. Linguistics and Literature with relevant learning objectives at university level. Both courses final exam questions and relevant learning objectives are analyzed for alignment using a slightly modified version of Porter’s model of alignment (2002). The linguistics course showed an alignment index of (0.50) and for the Literature course, the alignment index was (0.49). Both values were significantly lower than the hypothetical mean (0.839) and (0.884) for the two respective courses at the significance level of (0.05). In relation to the comparison of emphasis whether on exam questions or learning objectives, the low-order cognitive skills, viz. (remember, understand and apply) were over-emphasized than the high-order skills, viz. (analyze, evaluate and create). Building on that, recommendations are forwarded to EFL university teachers in terms of paying more attention to the learning objectives of the course they teach when designing final exam questions. Moreover, teachers should also make a balance by emphasizing the cognitive skills included within both learning objectives and examination questions. The apparent and the constructivist were resolved by the internal consistency index, and the stability was estimated by the Alpha-Cronbach equation, which amounted to 0 and 89. The method of cooperative education was determined as a basic method and the other methods were traditional to be the two ends of the comparison. In order to achieve the objectives of the research, the researcher built a scale of transformational leadership, which she applied to the principals of kindergartens. The scale consists of (20) items, and it has good validity and stability, as the reliability coefficient reached (870.0) by the half-segmentation method, and (748.0) by using Cronbach's alpha equation. In addition, the researcher has adopted the Multiple Intelligences Scale, developed by (Walter Mckenzie,1999), according to (Howard Gardner's,1983) classification of multiple intelligences, which includes social and self-intelligence. The scale consists of (20) items and has apparent validity. The two scales were applied to a sample of (160) female principals, who were chosen by the simple random method. The research reached a set of results, including: 1- Transformational leadership as a general factor is found among kindergarten principals at a high level. 2- There are differences in transformational leadership among female principals according to demographic variables. 3- The kindergarten principals enjoy a high level of social and self-intelligence as a general factor. 4- There are no differences in the social and self-intelligence of female principals according to demographic variables. 5- Transformational leadership is related to the social and self-intelligence of female principals with a strong positive and statistically significant positive relationship. Then the researcher presented a set of recommendations and suggestions.
