The TU consists of a rotational actuator and a wheel, which is connected to the shaft of the actuator. The TU can be attached to any position on the beam as an additional actuator, and its counter-torque controls the beam's vibration. In order to show advantages of the TU for control of a flexible beam, we carried out some computer simulations of PD control for the flexible beam with the TU and without it. It was clarified from the simulation results that using the TU as an additional actuator improves control performance and saves energy. It consists of developing an algorithm that searches for the optimal parameters of an adaptive fuzzy indirect field oriented control of an induction motor. The optimized parameters are those that are not subjected to adaptation or learning processes during system operation. The proposed algorithm minimizes the effort and the time consumed during the design phase. In this case the stator voltage and flux cannot be manipulated for optimal system operation. If a DC bus bar is available, double feeding can occur about the inverter. This paper describes a doubly-fed full-controlled induction wind generator which offers high flexibility of stator side control to ensure minimal losses as well as optimal power utilisation. The equation of the optimal loss regime is derived while simulation results show improvements in the efficiency power extraction. The special wind converter system has been investigated at a glance of installed off-shore MW-generators, where a DC-transmission is advantageous because of the avoided reactive power. The precalculated improvements behave 6% at most in the wind-driven range. The fundamental control algorithm is based on the direct field orientation, which essentially requires rotor flux estimation using several motor parameters and detection of line currents and rotor position. In order to suppress the flux estimation error caused by the parameter mismatch, the magnetizing inductance and the rotor resistance are identified insensitively to the stator resistance by using instantaneous reactive power. However, due to a model mismatch associated with the equivalent iron-core loss resistance, neither the field orientation nor the parameter identification can be achieved as is expected, which mainly results in degradation of flux and torque control accuracy. This paper describes characteristics of the motor parameters precisely measured under various operating conditions, the influence of iron-core loss resistance on the field orientation and the parameter identification, and a compensation technique to obtain higher controllability than conventional field-oriented control techniques. Finally, the good results are shown in the paper. However, these features are achieved by means of modern control techniques which require many electrical variables in order to be properly implemented. This constraint makes these techniques less attractive and simpler control techniques are preferred. On the other hand, virtual sensors have become an alternative to provide the electrical variables without sensing them. They use the already available information to estimate the missing measurements; however, their design uses several parameters that are usually manually tuned. This paper presents a general virtual sensor and defines performance tests in order to evaluate and design optimum operating parameters of the virtual sensor applied to three-phase static power converters. It is based on a genetic algorithm (GA). The aim is to optimize the independent geometric parameters of the rotor/stator lamination to reduce the main motor's power losses, i.e., the iron and the copper losses. The GA proved to be a simple and efficient search and optimization method for solving the daily design problem in the industry. As one application of this algorithm, we implement a system in which the angle of a hand controls a reading point in text on a screen in real time, and the text is read out with sound synthesis software. In the proposed predictive control scheme, the switching information is obtained directly from the error in flux. This approach is simpler than the methods of torque and flux control in which a reference voltage vector is generated to obtain the inverter duty cycle. A model is established for the wind farm Hagesholm (Denmark). This wind farm consists of six active stall controlled wind turbines from NEG-Micon with 2 MW rated power. The wind turbines are connected through two feeders to the 10kV busbar in a 50/10kV substation. The simulation model, implemented in the dedicated power system simulation tool DIgSILENT, is used in the first place to simulate the behaviour of the wind farm during normal operation of the wind farm. The model comprises a grid model, six almost identical wind turbine models, where electric, mechanic and aerodynamic aspects are included, and a model for the wind speed. The described model can be used for assessment of power quality, control strategies and behaviour in the event of grid faults. In this paper, the ability of the model to predict power quality is investigated. The simulations are used to compute power quality characteristics of a wind turbine, i.e. maximum power, reactive power consumption and flicker emission. The applied computation methods are reflecting the international power quality standards of wind turbine IEC 61400-21.
