The hand system is composed of a scissor device and a CCD camera. The user can monitor the operation using the CCD camera linked to a personal computer, and can operate the robot system using only the user interface of a personal computer display. It is possible to implement remote control operations using the proposed system. The operational flow is as follows. A user searches for a tomato using the velocity operation mode. After the user has found the tomato on the display, he clicks on it. The computer system recognizes the red color of the tomato, and then calculates the position of the tomato on the display. Next, the calculated position moves to the center of the operation window. The movement means that the robot hand moves to the corresponding position of the tomato. Finally, the robot hand picks the tomato automatically. The new control design uses the Smith predictor (SP) to compensate the dead-time, the PID control law as a primary controller and a filter. Both, PID and filter parameters, may be changed to improve robustness aspects of the closed-loop system. Due to the nonlinear characteristic of the plant, the combination of slow and fast models is used for modeling purposes of the process in the SP design. The relay feedback method is implemented to tune the primary PID controller. However the output of the FC system cannot respond the transient shock of the sudden change of the effective and reactive load demands in the utility system. In order to compensate these shocks, a new-type hybrid electric power distributed source consisting of a FC system coupled with a superconducting magnetic energy storage system (SMES) is proposed in this paper. The SMES system can also contribute to the compensation of effective and reactive power demand fluctuation in the power distributed system. This FC/SMES hybrid system is connected with the existing utility line by a bi-directional power converter, and contributes to the compensation of sudden load change in the local existing power distribution line. The transient performance simulation was carried out using circuit analysis software PSIM in order to examine the effectiveness of the above-mentioned FC/SMES hybrid system for eliminating the influence of transient shock. The basic configuration includes a nine-switch matrix that uses four-quadrant switch cells. Each four-quadrant switch cell resembles a full-bridge inverter and can assume three voltage levels during conduction. Semiconductor devices in a switch cell are clamped to a known constant DC voltage of a capacitor. Control of the input and output voltage waveforms of the proposed converter can be achieved through space vector modulation. This scheme combines the advantages of quasi-parallel resonant inverter (operation at high switching frequency, high efficiency, and reduced EMI) and those of the DTC (good dynamic performance and fast response of torque and flux). The DC link voltage is pulled down to zero when any inverter switch has to change its switching state. Thus, the DTC algorithm can be implemented with zero hysteresis band of both torque and flux controllers to enhance the DTC performance. Simulation and experimental verification are presented. First, a new switching strategy is proposed to reduce the current harmonics of the permanent magnet synchronous motor. Next, a two-degree-of-freedom controller is proposed to improve the system performance. The parameters of this controller are obtained by using frequency-domain optimization technique. The controller design procedures require only algebraic computation. In addition, the realization of the controller is very simple. All the control loops, including current-loop, speed-loop, and position-loop, are implemented by a 32-bit TMS320C40 digital signal processor. The hardware, therefore, is very simple. To solve this problem, the sensorless control based on an extended electromotive force model has been proposed in this paper. In this paper, a method for designing a digital robust controller for PWM power amplifier which can satisfy such demands is proposed. First, a nominal model of PWM power amplifiers which consists of a PWM signal generating part, an electric power conversion part and an LC filter is derived from the linear approximation. The controlled objective is described by the discrete-time systems with consideration of the input dead time. It is shown that a digital controller can be designed in almost the same way as the previously proposed analog controller and then a 2-degree-of-freedom digital robust systems are constituted. The LC filter and the digital controller which satisfy the design specifications are determined by the proposed design method. A DSP is implemented for the digital controller obtained here.
