The reason is that it is robust and can be used at higher speeds than DC motors available for industrial applications. Owing to the very large-scale implementation of the IM in industrial drive systems, the effect of the parameters on the control scheme has been the subject of much research. Since the motor parameters change considerably with temperature, frequency and saturation, over time they can greatly affect the performance of the drive system. This paper attempts to provide a synopsis of the major techniques used for the parameter estimation, while also illustrating the wide applications by providing a summary of techniques that are drawn from other branches of engineering. The main techniques that have been covered are spectral analysis of the currents and voltages, use of observers and models and the estimation using nonlinear modeling of IM.","PeriodicalId":345608,"journal":{"name":"IECON'01. 27th Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society (Cat. The operation of this quasi-resonant DC link snubber circuit and its circuit parameter design method are described and three phase voltage source soft switching inverter using a quasi-resonant DC link snubber treated here is evaluated and discussed from an experimental point of view. In addition to these, the motor current and the motor speed response under the soft switching are compared with that of the conventional hard switching condition. The proposed series active compensator operated as a high impedance \"k(/spl Omega/)\" to the fundamental components when overcurrent occurs in the power distribution system, and three control strategies are proposed in this paper. The first is the method of detecting the fundamental source current through the p-q theory, the second is the method by detecting the fundamental component of load current in synchronous reference frame (SRF) and the third is the method by detecting the input voltage. When the overcurrent occurs in the power distribution system, the proposed scheme protects the series active compensator without additional protection circuits. The winding function theory shows the effect of the eccentricity fault on the motor inductances and simulation is done using a nonsymmetric air-gap function. A modified equation is presented to describe the rotor slot harmonics in the DC motor. To detect the fault, a pattern recognition technique is utilized. The proposed algorithm works at steady state and uses armature current as input. In order to provide the appropriate feature for the classifier, the rotor speed is needed, therefore the speed is estimated from armature current, using commutation harmonics. The experimental results obtained from a 3 hp shunt DC motor shows the strength of this method. The radio frequency (RF) level mapping problem is described and some considerations about its solution are taken. The structures and operation details of CMAC and fuzzy-CMAC neural networks are also discussed and a solution to the above problem is derived. The steps needed to reach accurate and reliable results are depicted. Results obtained with real field data acquired by Telemig Cellular Company from Brazil are shown and a final analysis is made considering the performance achieved with the described approach. The following tools are covered: HTML, JavaScript, Java Applets, Cookies, CGI, PERL, PHP, native languages (C/C++), and Web server configuration for security. Special emphasis is given to PERL and JAVA. Several programming examples for client, server and client-server applications are provided. The fragments of code are selected so that they provide good jumpstart to programming in particular languages for anybody with good programming skills in any programming language (preferably C++ or C). Smart machines are able to evaluate online a number of its own vitalities helping operators to diagnose faults. Most often the origins of the problems are buried into intractable and not usually relevant data. Some neural architectures are presented for recognizing those operational trajectories that are the early symptoms of faults in these smart machines. In order to cope with such classification problem, a neural architecture defined as PREMON (predictive maintenance oriented network) is designed. The software, named ARTEMIS/sup TM/ (Advanced Real-Time Electro-Mechanical Transient Simulator), accurately simulates time-segment linear systems with discontinuities occurring anywhere between time-steps. The new software is used for the simulation of energy and power system dynamics, and is implemented in the ARTEMIS Add-On for Simulink's Power System Blockset. With ARTEMIS Discrete Time Compensation of Switching Events (DTCSE), the between-step events are transparently taken into account and compensated for in the simulation results. This eliminates sub-synchronous jitter while causing only minor increase in both the average time-step and real-time time-step (typically less than 1.0%) making ARTEMIS with DTCSE suitable software for real-time simulation of precision-critical hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) systems.
