The study used general scientific methods of analysis and generalization. The main method is content analysis, and monitoring and comparison methods were also used. The article is devoted to the study of the thematic paradigm of the news programs of the regional TV channels «Channel 12» (Lutsk), «STS» (Sumy), «Grad» (Odesa), «MTM» (Zaporizhzhia) in the context of the Russian-Ukrainian war. The empirical base consists of 120 news releases of the selected channels aired from 01.06.2023 to 30.06.2023.The results. The relevance of the study is due to the need to identify the leading topics on each of the selected TV channels, as well as their deviation from the dominant model, which is dominated by: reports of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the state of events on the front lines, stories of IDPs, criminal chronicles, social issues of the region, volunteer initiatives, medicine, sports competitions and cultural events. The study found that during the war, the popularity of regional media in Ukraine increased significantly. The war and the socio-economic situation in the country led to the reformatting of the media space, which affected the topics of news programs on regional TV channels. The study found that during the war, the popularity of regional media in Ukraine increased significantly. The war and the socio-economic situation in the country led to the reformatting of the media space, which affected the topics of news programs on regional TV channels. Through quantitative analysis of news stories on the prevalence of certain topics in the newscasts, it is proved that stories on criminal and social issues were most often broadcast on Channel 12 and MTM, while on Grad TV channel information about reports of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and videos about culture prevailed, and the thematic content of the newscasts of STS mainly concerns social issues of the region and medicine. Novelty of the study lies in the attempt to scientifically outline the peculiarities of the topics of news stories on Ukrainian regional channels during Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The practical significance of the study lies in the possibility of applying the results obtained to improve and enhance the thematic content of news programs on regional TV channels.Key words: regional television, TV channel, audience, news story, thematic content, media space, news journalism, media market.","PeriodicalId":345460,"journal":{"name":"State and Regions. A survey was used to identify the respondents’ opinions on the topic. A number of assumptions were made. In particular: 1) such literature will be more interesting to young people; 2) respondents will believe that this topic should be presented in teenage literature because the world in general and Ukrainian society in particular are multifaceted and diverse, so it is normal to hear all voices; 3) realistic prose and genre publications will compete for readers’ attention; 4) such books will be in demand if they are primarily about an interesting story. Accordingly, our task was to verify these assumptions. Based on this, we created a questionnaire of 7 questions: 2 open-ended questions and 5 with possible answers (+ «other» option). The «Teenage Books on an Important Topic» survey was conducted on November 10–13, 2023, using the snowball method with the help of Google Forms. A total of 145 respondents were interviewed. To process the information received, the following methods of generalization and analysis of information were used: systematization, grouping, qualitative (text analysis, classification) and quantitative (digital data) methods of data interpretation. The results are presented as a detailed verbal description. Results. It was found that the vast majority of respondents are young people living in large cities. 96.6% of respondents believe that the topic of the LGBTQ(IA+) community should be represented (including a balanced representation) in Ukrainian teen literature. 3.4% of respondents believe that it should not be represented. According to the key messages, the following groups can be distinguished from the category «should be represented» because it: 1: 1) promotes awareness of adolescents about the topic of the queer community, overcoming prejudice and stigma; 2) helps to understand that the orientation of people who are part of the queer community is a variant of the norm, and it is the norm that should be accepted by all members of society; 3) promotes the development of a culture of tolerance, gender equality, self-awareness, and self-acceptance by any member of society; 4) promotes cultural identification and representation of adolescents belonging to the queer community; 5) makes it clear that literature should cover all aspects of life; 6) is a reality for many adolescents; 7) because the niche needs to be filled. The arguments that the topic «should not be represented» include personal rejection; stereotypical understanding of the «usefulness of literature/art»; misunderstanding of the role of cultural identification; and the traditional accusation of the threat to the institution of the «traditional» family.Only 55 respondents were able to name certain works from this segment by 27 foreign and 8 Ukrainian authors, and there is no distinction between books by age cat","PeriodicalId":345460,"journal":{"name":"State and Regions. The following general scientific methods were used to prepare the article: literature analysis in accordance with the purpose and objectives of the study; a survey using a Google form (a total sample of 877 respondents-users of social networks aged 16 and older), descriptive and graphical methods to describe the survey results and visualize them in the form of graphs, a method of systematic analysis and generalization to record the main activities of Ukrainians on the social networks Telegram, Instagram and Facebook and to identify the features of posts and comments as communication practices. Results. The following main activities of Telegram users have been identified: communication with friends and relatives in private chats and reading news on the relevant channels. On Instagram and Facebook, the most popular social networks among Ukrainians, the following sequence of activities of their users was established (from the most popular to the least used): reading with likes, writing posts, checking comments on a post, writing comments, creating short videos, checking the reaction of the author of a post to a comment. For the majority of respondents, social networks serve as electronic diaries, as users most often write posts based on their own news - personal or professional news, achievements and awards; to express their own opinion on certain events or phenomena; to share joy about personal holidays and to publish the results of their own creativity. Much less frequently, the reasons for writing posts are the desire to collect aid for the military or victims of military operations; the desire to speak out about an event that «touches the heart» or the desire to develop one's own brand. The commenting strategy is very similar: respondents most often comment on the successes and achievements of their friends, followed by atmospheric posts, condolences and encouragement, and posts on relevant professional topics. If a discussion breaks out under a post, one-third of the authors will moderate it, responding to all constructive comments and remarks. As for the frequency of writing posts, about 17% of respondents produce the main content (from several times a day to 3–4 times a week). At the same time, a little more than 20% of respondents do not post at all.Novelty. The study was the first to identify possible user activities on Telegram, Instagram, and Facebook and to determine which of these activities are more common for respondents and which are relatively rare. The survey was also aimed at finding out the informational reasons for writing posts on social media, determining the role of post authors as moderators of discussions that may break out under these posts, and identifying the types of posts under which us","PeriodicalId":345460,"journal":{"name":"State and Regions. The research was carried out using general scientific theoretical methods of analysis and synthesis. In order to obtain quantitative indicators, the method of surveying the audience of the Pavlograd television and radio campaign was used during the recognition of true and fake information.Results. Mass media play the role of mediators of media criticism in societies with a developed civil society under conditions of democracy. Ukraine has the experience of strengthening public interest in media criticism in the conditions of war and the need to oppose unreliable information and informational aggression. Research by the Ukrainian platforms «Detector Media» and «IMI» prove that Ukrainian society is aware of the destructive influence of Russian fakes and is interested in the possibilities of opposing these destructive media phenomena. Local newsrooms that work for local communities participate in such activities, in particular, by creating media products that give the audience the opportunity to learn the skills of working with questionable information and distinguishing between false and true information. The article is devoted to Ukrainian mass media media critical projects that help their audience to become media literate and learn to work with information in the conditions of Russian information aggression. Among the various Ukrainian media products of this direction, the «Let’s Check» program of the municipal channel «Pavlograd Television and Radio Company» is highlighted. The work uses the results of program analysis and interaction with the audience on social media platforms.Novelty. Media critical projects and projects of media literacy acquire new perspectives in the conditions of the war in Ukraine, so the classification of such projects, their review and instruments for interaction with the audience become an important factor in the formation of civil society in Ukraine.Practical significance. Conducting the research is due to the fact that in the context of significant changes in the military and political situation in the world in general and around Ukraine, with the beginning of full-scale Russian aggression, propaganda, which is an effective tool for manipulating public opinion, is becoming widely spread in the media space. The media use different propaganda strategies, forming an irrelevant picture of reality. This leads to a decrease in the level of information security of the state, the result of which is the destabilization of the social and political situation, opposition to the adoption of certain state decisions, etc.Research methodology. The study of propaganda strategies in modern media was based on the media manipulative approach, methods of manipulation of mass consciousness and content analysis. Their application made it possible to identify the main principles of consideration of the problems of propaganda strategies. The results. In the process of work, it was found that propaganda is the purposeful dissemination of unreliable information with a specific goal. Propaganda is aimed precisely at the human consciousness, because it allows to form clear concepts and images in it. Depending on the orientation, propaganda is divided into external and internal; according to the sphere of distribution – cultural, personal, informational, political; according to the degree of reliability of the information – true, partially true, false; according to the stage of spread – preparatory, active, latent.Propaganda strategies include lies, decontextualization, disinformation, demonization of the enemy, obfuscation, deliberate obscurity, confusion, labelling, half-truths, repetition, join the crowd, commoners, stereotypes, fear, uncertainty, and doubt. The study states that the main propaganda strategies used in the analyzed media are «common people» and «stereotypes», less so – «join the crowd» and «half-truth».Novelty. The novelty of the study is that propaganda strategies in foreign media were investigated for the first time. The understanding of the concept of «propaganda» has also been improved, the peculiarities of the functioning of propaganda strategies in foreign media have been investigated.Practical significance. A survey method was used to find out changes in media production and broadcasting. The results were interpreted in the form of tables and diagrams through the method of comparison and systematization. The descriptive method was used during the presentation of the research results.Results. The analysis of scientific literature made it possible to distinguish three main stages of media content production and to structure theoretical knowledge on the organization of broadcasters’ activities in the Ukrainian information space. Considered how today’s challenges – emergency situations in Ukraine – affected the technology of creating news media content and what changes became necessary in the system of transmission of multimedia content. The proposed results of the survey clearly demonstrate how broadcasters chose acceptable ways to organize news production in difficult periods for the country and how innovations in the field of telecommunications, digital technologies, satellite communications and new information processing technologies contributed to regular broadcasting. Scientific novelty. In the period of emergency situations, starting with the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic and continuing through the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation into Ukraine, news content is extremely important for users. Prompt delivery of information has become a challenge for broadcasters, as audiovisual content has become more difficult to create due to a number of circumstances. Although thanks to information technologies, the system of news’ collecting and distributing has become simpler, the question of their form and content and the quality of information services to meet the needs of various reading and viewing audiences has arisen. So, the transformational changes in television production have been an interesting experience to study. Practical value. With the help of methods of analysis, synthesis, induction, deduction, comparison, analogy and juxtaposition, the features of the media of the EU diasporas are determined; the historical method was used to study the development of the national minorities’ media; content analysis – to study the media content.

Results. The majority of Ukrainian media of national minorities, in particular the EU diasporas, arose in the 90s of the last century after the collapse of the USSR in the wake of national uplift. Ethnic communities actively created their own newspapers, magazines, and rarely radio and television. However, all these media faced a lack of funding and only those that had stable support (either foreign or diasporas) have survived to this day. The most important functions of diasporas mass media are the preservation of national traditions, but at the same time, the diasporization of the identity of their target groups, the construction of national communities, which, in the conditions of active development of information and communication technologies, cross local and national borders. The content of most media outlets of EU diasporas differs from the content of Ukrainian media not only in terms of a set of stories and topics: ethnic media outlets create a positive image of an ethnic or diasporic group. That is why it is very important that each national minority is represented in the media space.

Novelty. A comprehensive study of traditional and new media of the EU diasporas in Ukraine is conducted; theoretical ideas about the media of national minorities are improved.

Practical significance. Research materials and results can be used in university courses on the theory and practice of journalism, in media studies special courses.

Key words: media of EU Diasporas, Ukrainian media space, media of national minorities, multicultural society, traditional and new media.
","PeriodicalId":345460,"journal":{"name":"State and Regions.
