The software package, called GENSTEP, reads the characteristics of various radars to be simulated in the environment and generates a time-ordered pulse descriptor. Each pulse descriptor gives the frequency, pulse width, angle of arrival, amplitude, time of arrival of the radar pulse data. GENSTEP incorporates procedures for calculating these parameters from the basic radar specifications supplied by the user. It also has a routine for moving radar simulation and variation of pulse parameters in random or predefined manner from pulse to pulse. The algorithms used in GENSTEP as well as the data structure and program flow chart are described.<<ETX>>","PeriodicalId":345412,"journal":{"name":"[1988] Proceedings. The simulation is conducted using modular state variable models and the state transition matrix. By using a modular approach, each component is modeled separately as a two-port network using the input voltages to each component as independent variables. A high-frequency, lumped-parameter model of a power transformer is presented. The model is used to develop a third-order state variable description of the device that is coupled to state variable models of a resonant converter and resistive-inductive load. A mixed model for describing objects is suggested. Procedures for intersection checking among primitive shapes are developed that are based on the idea that two objects have no intersection if one can find a particular projection direction such that the images of the two objects have no intersection on the projection plane. It is noted that not all of these algorithms provide necessary and sufficient conditions for collision detection. However, none of them requires more than two projections to determine whether a collision is likely to occur. Furthermore, images of the objects after projection are simple shapes such as circles and polygons. Thus, the checking procedures are simple and efficient for online implementation. The method can also be applied for planning paths for multiarm robots. In a recent (1987) paper, the authors showed that finite-form analytic solutions and stability information for proper systems dx/dt=A(t)x can be obtained using the conventional (time-varying) eigenvalues of A(t) and novel entities called coeigenvalues of A(t). In particular, a general necessary and sufficient stability criterion of the time-domain type and a restricted stability criterion of the frequency-domain type were developed. The criterion is generalized to extend its domain of application. These quaternary maximal-length sequences, which can be directly assigned to the four phases of QPSK, are generated from primitive polynomials whose coefficients are in the Galois field of 2/sup 2/ elements (GF(2/sup 2/)). The autocorrelation function for the quaternary m-sequence is shown to be two-level and the crosscorrelation function for preferred pairs of these quaternary m-sequences is shown to be three- and four-level, similar to the binary cases. The method involves phase frame representation of the line. The unbalance created by large single-phase loads, untransposed lines, conductor bundles, etc., is reflected in polyphase impedance matrices. Consequently, line removals, additions, impedance changes, and conductor and faulted phase openings can be simulated based on the boundary conditions. Thus the proposed method makes it possible to study the synchronous generator stability due to any combination of single or multiple unsymmetrical series and shunt faults occurring anywhere in the system and the result of several case studies are presented.<<ETX>>","PeriodicalId":345412,"journal":{"name":"[1988] Proceedings.
