Abstract
A software simulation approach to validate processing techniques and evaluate system performance for different emitter scenarios is discussed. The software package, called GENSTEP, reads the characteristics of various radars to be simulated in the environment and generates a time-ordered pulse descriptor. Each pulse descriptor gives the frequency, pulse width, angle of arrival, amplitude, time of arrival of the radar pulse data. GENSTEP incorporates procedures for calculating these parameters from the basic radar specifications supplied by the user. It also has a routine for moving radar simulation and variation of pulse parameters in random or predefined manner from pulse to pulse. The algorithms used in GENSTEP as well as the data structure and program flow chart are described.<>
