Our research demonstrates that by modifying environmental regulations and subsidy levels, it is feasible to attain an optimal system equilibrium state, characterized by either stringent or lenient governmental oversight, active public participation, and the green transformation of enterprises. Furthermore, when financial incentives surpass regulatory costs, local governments are inclined to implement more stringent measures. Enterprises are incentivized to adopt environmentally sustainable practices when the economic advantages derived from emission trading and tax savings exceed the costs associated with emission reduction. Public engagement in conservation efforts intensifies when subsidies for participation exceed the related costs, underscoring the significance of effective incentives and an understanding of public attitudes. Addressing these challenges necessitates behavioral shifts towards green entrepreneurship as a pathway to a sustainable future and environmental protection. This study models green entrepreneurial behavior (GEB) among greenhouse operators in Golestan Province, northern Iran, employing the Motivation-Opportunity-Ability (MOA) model, with a focus on socio-psychological structures. The research involved a complete survey of 70 vegetable greenhouse units in the region. Data analysis was conducted using structural equation modeling through the Partial Least Squares (PLS) method with Smart PLS3 software. Results revealed that the intention to adopt GEB had the strongest effect on behavior (path coefficient = 0.410, T-value = 4.369), followed by the ability and opportunity components. The latent variables of green entrepreneurial intention (GEI), opportunities, and abilities collectively explained approximately 75 % of the variance in GEB. Furthermore, the constructs of social norms, beliefs, and attitudes accounted for 76.4 % of the variance in GEI. These findings confirm the profound role of the MOA model in the adoption of green entrepreneurship and provide strategic recommendations for planners and policymakers to establish green entrepreneurship by improving the internal and external structure of the production system, emphasizing the complementary relationships between psychological, social, economic, and environmental factors in achieving sustainable development and food security.</div></div>","PeriodicalId":34478,"journal":{"name":"Sustainable Futures","volume":"10 ","pages":"Article 100900"},"PeriodicalIF":3.3,"publicationDate":"2025-06-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"144489571","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":2,"RegionCategory":"社会学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Their potential to foster green innovation, and ultimately support sustainable development, remains an important subject of empirical research. Drawing on panel data from Chinese A-share listed companies spanning 2007 to 2022, this research utilizes a three-way fixed effects framework to evaluate how green subsidies promote environmental progress. The empirical evidence suggests that, while green subsidies significantly enhance investment in innovation, their direct impact on innovation outputs is relatively limited. This trend is consistent across various types of firms, highlighting the initial success of green subsidy policies in motivating innovation investment, but also underscoring the necessity of further exploration and refinement to achieve a more sustainable impact on innovation outcomes. Notably, R&D outputs in technology-intensive firms paradoxically declined after receiving green subsidies, revealing limitations in the current policy framework’s effectiveness. These findings emphasize the importance of tailoring subsidy policies to align with the heterogeneous demands of enterprises. Our research contributes to this discussion by emphasizing the need for a more nuanced policy approach that balances innovation incentives with long-term economic sustainability.</div></div>","PeriodicalId":34478,"journal":{"name":"Sustainable Futures","volume":"10 ","pages":"Article 100889"},"PeriodicalIF":3.3,"publicationDate":"2025-06-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"144480334","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":2,"RegionCategory":"社会学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The research investigates the feasibility of deploying small-scale, locally distributed production facilities as an alternative to conventional large-scale models, particularly in regions facing high transport costs and limited infrastructure. Innovative, low-emission technologies, such as high thermal plasma, mini-Haber-Bosch systems and others are evaluated for their techno-economic potential, including the application of environmental credits and future carbon tax scenarios. A comprehensive supply chain simulation demonstrates that decentralised ammonia production can achieve competitive costs of USD 232 per tonne when ESG-aligned strategies are applied. Recent global disruptions, such as the COVID-19 pandemic and the Ukrainian-Russian conflict, have further intensified uncertainties, significantly impacting agri-food supply chains and employment. Although previous reviews have explored sustainability, circular economy and labor conditions within specific niches such as organic farming, comprehensive analyses of employment dynamics across the broader agri-food sector in developed economies remain limited. This systematic literature review addresses this research gap by synthesizing employment-related challenges across six key themes: (1) family farming dynamics, (2) unique employment characteristics, (3) gender inequalities, (4) wage disparities, (5) education and training needs, and (6) productivity challenges. After the two-stage process, an initial database search identified 19,918 articles, with 128 Stud. included after rigorous screening. The findings highlight the continued importance of family farms despite industrial-scale agriculture pressures, the significant reliance on migrant and seasonal labor facing precarious conditions, and the crucial role of education and training in addressing technological changes and labor shortages. This review not only fills a critical gap in the literature but also provides an actionable roadmap: prioritize fair wages and legal protections for migrant and seasonal workers, invest in next generation of agricultural education, and design policies that keep family farms economically viable while embracing innovation. Implementing these measures is essential to future‑proof the agri‑food workforce, safeguard rural livelihoods and secure resilient, sustainable food systems across the developed world.</div></div>","PeriodicalId":34478,"journal":{"name":"Sustainable Futures","volume":"10 ","pages":"Article 100895"},"PeriodicalIF":3.3,"publicationDate":"2025-06-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"144335968","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":2,"RegionCategory":"社会学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Government interventions, particularly tax policies, can significantly influence the stability and sustainability of tourism supply chains. This study investigates how government taxation and policy strategies affect a supply chain involving two five-star hotels, one adopting green practices and one operating conventionally, and an online travel agency (OTA). Using a game-theoretic approach, the model analyzes interactions under both stable and recessionary economic conditions. The results show that taxation often reduces the profitability of hotels without meaningfully increasing government revenue, especially during economic downturns. Green hotels are more severely affected, as they face higher costs while struggling to maintain competitive pricing in times of crisis. Meanwhile, OTAs benefit disproportionately from government interventions, amplifying structural imbalances in the supply chain.
