Most scholars believe that maritime trade openness will transform economy into a developed nation while some disagree. The main objective of this research is to examine the relationship between maritime trade and economic development; specifically, to ascertain whether maritime trade granger-causes economic development; and to determine whether there is a co-integration between maritime trade and economic development. The study used secondary data obtained from the Central Bank of Nigeria and the United Nations development Programme, and tested the effect of independent variables on a dependent variable. The variables were tested using Stationarity, heteroskedasticity, Ramsey reset, granger-causality and ARDL Bounds test at the 5% level of significance. The findings revealed that maritime trade proxy by trade openness had a significant effect on economic development captured by HDI and the ARDL Bound test showed a significant effect of trade openness on economic development. Different measures and initiatives, aimed at the optimisation of city logistics and reduction of the negative effects of urban freight transport are access zones or goods (freight) receiving points in the city centre, restrictions of vehicle dimensions, time schedule of delivery, consolidation strategies, use of urban distribution or consolidation centres, use of electric cars, use of urban public transport and mobility management. In the last couple of years, the city of Šibenik has experienced a tourism boom, which includes the organisation of numerous festivals in the old town core, an increase in the number of visitors, an increase in the number of catering and shopping facilities, private accommodation units, hotels and hostels. The study examined travel behaviour and mobility challenges of disabled elderly in four cities in Ogun State, Nigeria. Purposive and convenient sampling methods were used to administer 400 questionnaire and data elicited were analyzed descriptively and inferentially. Findings revealed that most of respondents were male (69.5%), aged between 66-70 years (43.5%), and characterized with visual impairment (62%). On travel behaviour, majority generated about 10 trips a week (68.5%), through tricycle (45.5%) and basically for medical purposes (81%). Mobility challenges faced by respondents are mostly deplorable road (92%), inaccessibility to public transport (84%), poor public vehicle condition (76%) and longer-waiting time at bus stops (70%). These challenges have been blamed on weak policy framework and systematic withdrawal of governmentin public transport investment. Furthermore, binary logistics regression result shows that respondents travel behaviour is statistically influenced by their socioeconomic status (p<0.000). The Pseudo R-Square [Cox & Snell’s R-Square (36%) and Nagelkerke’s R (70%)] show that the model is relevant in predicting influence of vehicle ownership on travel behaviour. Most of them are more accurately described in the White Paper on the future of Europe. By signing the Treaty of Lisbon, every European country is obligated to fulfil the legislation of the European Parliament. The main document dealing with the transport issue and ecological aspect of transport is the White Paper, which serves as a fundamental document for establishing the legislation and standards. The European Parliament legislation must be implemented in the national legislation including e. g. regulations, decisions or recommendations of the European Parliament. The legislation based on the White Paper is closely focused on transport and the related ecological aspect. Conclusions of this document lead decisions of EU to take serious actions in many different sectors. The transport sector has a significant impact on our environment and the future of the European Union. Price calculation in transport is part of the general theory of pricing, while accepting specific business conditions in transport, or in its individual sectors, including rail transport. This paper describes a proposal of a suitable methodical procedure by means where it would be possible to effectively evaluate such additional services in rail freight transport that are provided beyond the carriers’ basic activities in Slovak Republic conditions. The new methodology for evaluating and pricing ancillary services must aim at creating more favourable economic conditions regarding pricing for carriers, flexibility in the provision of additional services and the ability to respond to customer requirements. The secondary objective of the new methodology is to promote environmentally friendly transport modes, which in continental transport means increasing the share of rail transport in the transport market. This awareness is crucial to transport planning, particularly in the pursuit of an equitable mobility system in rural Kenya, Africa and beyond. The main data collection tool was a semi-structured questionnaire which was complemented by a key informant interview schedule, focus group discussions guide and an observation checklist. The study found that while the satisfaction of the respondents ranged from neutral to satisfied there was a strong difference between groups. Most of the respondents were satisfied with the MT services, largely due to the physical attributes of the MT. Negative reasons were mainly related to MT riders‘ mannerism, unprofessional driving, and poor safety. Nonetheless, almost all respondents recognised the importance of motorcycle taxi transport in realising their needs of accessing locations and activities within and outside Rongo Sub-County. The rights are based on the principles of non-discrimination, accurate, timely and accessible information as well as prompt and adequate assistance. There is also a specific code of transport regulating conditions under which a carrier transports persons, baggage, animals and goods on the rail network. The actual creation of such transport regulations should follow from a certain methodology. Thus, the paper´s objective is to propose methodical procedures that would be related to a set of regulations in railway passenger transport. The manual proposed will respect relevant legislation, which determines minimum requirements for developing transport regulations, and obligations of carriers as well. As the code of transport is part of public proposals for concluding transport contracts of the carriage of passengers, the methodical manual will contribute to making regulations in passenger transport to be better suited to practical requirements. In general, it may be argued that the manual will ensure establishing transport regulations which will be concise, clear, comprehensible, and which, in particular, will comply with the legislation and requirements of the transport service ordering party. It serves as the most efficient means of distributing agricultural products, locally-made products and natural resources. As a result of this, highways requires adequate planning and periodic maintenance for effective and efficient performance. This study examined traffic situation and capacity utilisation of highways in Ogun State, Nigeria with particular reference to Lagos-Ibadan, Lagos-Abeokuta and Sagamu-Benin Highways. Manual traffic count method was employed for the estimation of traffic volume and flow pattern. The count took 12 hours a day for three consecutive days (Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday) of a week. The traffic data gathered were analyzed and interpreted using descriptive and inferential techniques to determine Average Daily Traffic Volume (ADTV), flow situation and capacity utilization rate of each highway through thorough observation of inbound and outbound traffic. Findings revealed significant variation in traffic flow situation observed on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday of selected highways. Findings also revealed that Lagos-Ibadan Highway (2,085 vehicles/hour/lane) is well utilized while Abeokuta-Lagos and Sagamu-Benin Highways are underutilized with 820 and 1,184 vehicles/hour/lane respectively. In this article, a methodology has been developed to find the eco-friendly route considering multi-objective-travel time, emission and travel distance. Pareto optimality and weighted product model are used for multi-objective optimization and route choice is done by Dijkstra’s shortest path algorithm. Simulation software, AIMSUN is used to perform micro-simulation for collecting second by second vehicle speed and acceleration profile. Vehicle Specific Power (VSP) model is used to estimate emission. Emission at the traffic network can be significantly reduced by using the vehicle to vehicle communication. Using the V2V communication system, CO2, NOx, CO, HC can be reduced up to 5.34%, 9.57%, 25.84%, and 3.67% respectively in route choice considering budget travel time and travel distance.
