Crews’ knowledge and competence in waste management and safety are specified in the Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping for Seafarers, Manila 2010. However, research shows that waste is still discharged into the sea, which disturbs the aesthetics and negatively impacts the marine environment, ecosystem, and people’s safety and security. This study investigates waste handling by container ship crews. Data were collected through a survey with 180 container ship crews at Tanjung Perak Port, Surabaya, Indonesia; and analysed using Structural Equation Modelling-Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS) software. The finding suggested a positive and significant impact of the crews’ roles in preventing marine pollution, at 31.5%. This finding confirms the need for a waste handling model on ships that considers safety and awareness. This study suggests improvements in ship management and crews’ awareness of waste handling aimed at environmental protection.","PeriodicalId":344559,"journal":{"name":"LOGI – Scientific Journal on Transport and Logistics","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123343770","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It examined the performance of the Abuja MoU and the level of compliance with International Maritime Organization (IMO) regulations in the West and Central African sub-region. Secondary data obtained from the database of the Abuja MoU administration was used. The findings indicate that the implementation of the instrument has improved maritime safety in the region. The result also shows that trends of inspection efforts, poor inspection performance, number of inspections with and without detected deficiencies grew in the monitored period. The detention rate declined, which implies a decline in the trend of deploying unseaworthy vessels in the waters of the region, which is good for maritime safety administration in the region. About 92.5 % of the total inspections are fully compliant with the IMO safety regulation while 7.44 % of the inspection efforts show shortcomings and failure to comply with IMO regulations in the region","PeriodicalId":344559,"journal":{"name":"LOGI – Scientific Journal on Transport and Logistics","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132064083","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the drone industry, delivery systems using drones are now facing commercialization as they have undergone many experiments and discussions. The purpose of this study is to find the best route in a delivery system using a drone. In this study, we have developed the existing Vehicle Routing Problem (VRP) into a more realistic mathematical model considering the two differences between drones and vehicles; one is that power consumption varies with the weight of the loaded cargo and the other is that velocity is influenced by wind. This study also presents an Ant Colony System (ACS) algorithm to effectively solve VRP, a well-known NP-hard problem. The methodology of this study is quite successful and is expected to enable more realistic and effective routing decisions.","PeriodicalId":344559,"journal":{"name":"LOGI – Scientific Journal on Transport and Logistics","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122429319","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The necessary activities that contribute to maintaining good operational condition of the railway transport line also include the diagnostics of track length. Diagnostics of railway tracks is most often performed by means of regular visual inspection (in the conditions of the infrastructure manager – ŽSR). The objective of the article is to provide information on the application of a new approach to diagnostics of the technical condition of railway infrastructure. The new approach to defect identification on railway infrastructure uses non-invasive diagnostic methods based on the latest knowledge in the field of information and communication technologies. These facts resulted in investigating the possibilities of automatic detection of the technical condition of the track length using neural networks. The article is part of the following scientific research task: ‘Research into new knowledge and observational experience of a new generation of diagnostic systems in industrial production and transport industry – research into the physical nature of an automated track length video inspection system’, supported by the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic.","PeriodicalId":344559,"journal":{"name":"LOGI – Scientific Journal on Transport and Logistics","volume":"153 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127226743","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One way to address these issues is by encouraging horizontal collaboration, since many vehicles at this stage are less than full. This study aims to evaluate the benefits of collaborative pick-up in urban delivery systems. The problems are modeled based on the multi-depot vehicle routing problem. A case study with two carriers in Pekanbaru city, Indonesia, is presented as an illustration. The numerical results suggest that the economic benefits from the collaboration are significant when the spare capacity in the system is plenty. In contrast, the environmental benefits are typically linear with the reduction of vehicle miles traveled. The study findings provide practical insights for urban planners and logistics service providers to foster sustainable development in the city.","PeriodicalId":344559,"journal":{"name":"LOGI – Scientific Journal on Transport and Logistics","volume":"60 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116974854","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The main goal of this paper is to solve the routing problem for the company’s fleet vehicle (XpressBees) in order to find the best route under various constraints such as Signalized Intersections, Vehicle Capacity, Customer Demands, and Time Windows in order to reduce transportation costs by using real data. TSP and VRP and their variants are common problems for logistics companies that handle commodities transportation. In addition, for signalised intersections, the Highway Capacity Manual is used, and for truck optimization, the Product Loading Algorithm is used. As a result, there are various algorithms that provide a solution to this problem, such as the Branch and Bound Penalty Method, Dijikstra’s Algorithm, Dynamic Programming, Clarke and Wright savings algorithm and Holmes and Parker Heuristic. These algorithm returns the best option, which is the cheapest route.","PeriodicalId":344559,"journal":{"name":"LOGI – Scientific Journal on Transport and Logistics","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129014517","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Constant innovation can significantly reduce the operating costs and dramatically increase transport speeds. Continuous modernization reflecting customer needs keeps the rail sector competitive with other modes of transport. The research explores the use of augmented reality in procedures for processing sets of wagons in freight trains. The analysis involves technological procedures in rail freight transport at the marshalling yard, revealing characteristics of augmented reality. We assessed the feasibility of implementing options separately for the carrier, the railway infrastructure manager and the combination of both. The implementation of augmented reality is always rational, representing a simplification, acceleration or reduction of costs in the usual technological procedures. Incorrectly implemented augmented reality may cause serious complications to the technological process, including undue delays, overpricing and safety threats to employees operating in the track.","PeriodicalId":344559,"journal":{"name":"LOGI – Scientific Journal on Transport and Logistics","volume":"88 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123200269","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The inter-industry linkage model shows that land freight and logistics facilities have large pull effects on the economy. Estimates from the production-inducing model indicate that investments in the logistics industry have considerable effects on both upstream and downstream industries. The employment-inducing model suggests that although employment-inducing effects have fallen over time, total induced employment has risen, particularly for permanent jobs. Lastly, estimates from the supply-shortage model indicate large effects for land freight which highlights the need for greater diversity in transportation modes. The findings and their implications may be useful to formulate effective policies in Korea.","PeriodicalId":344559,"journal":{"name":"LOGI – Scientific Journal on Transport and Logistics","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131371954","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Internal combustion engines, despite the increasingly frequent restrictions on, for example, entry to city centers, still constitute the majority of the used motor vehicles. For these reasons, it is very important to properly operate and control the used motor vehicles, especially in the field of exhaust emissions. One way is to replacement of the vehicle fleet and individual cars with newer generation vehicles. Unfortunately, due to economic differences in the world, the rolling stock replacement process is not the same in all countries. However, despite these differences, even in less developed countries, efforts are being made to reduce vehicle emissions. This work presents road, bench and computational comparative tests of the fuel, economic, environmental and energy characteristics of a series car with a standard carburetor supply system and equipped with an electronic gasoline injection system and a three-component catalyst under operating conditions.","PeriodicalId":344559,"journal":{"name":"LOGI – Scientific Journal on Transport and Logistics","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122967423","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
