In this regard, the study of local history topics of the pre-revolutionary press can eliminate white spots in the study of regions. The purpose of the study is to evaluate the contribution of the doctor and publicist B.P. Knyazhinskiy in the development of Tambov local history. We apply the principle of historicism, a systematic approach, the content analysis method of the content. We analyze the historical essay “Ancient Usmansky Assumption Maiden Monastery”. It is noted that the Diocesan Gazette, in which the essay was published, performed an enlightening and educational function in pre-revolutionary Russia within the framework of the mass media system, and the clergy played a progressive function in the regional community. We reveal the local history value of the essay and its research nature associated with the use of documentary and scientific sources of that time. B.P. Knyazhinsky’s publication about the history of the convent in the 17th–18th centuries, revealing aspects of the life of the population of Usman itself, expands the possibilities of using the essay in modern regional historiography. The purpose of the research is to consider the currently existing collisions in the field of toponomastic terminology with a possible attempt to resolve them. Such aspects as the belonging of toponymy to a certain scientific paradigm, euphony, synonymy, new terms, translation issues are highlighted. Methods are proposed that could make it possible to come to a certain unification of the terms used. Attempts have been made to introduce new terminological units in the field of ottoponymic derivatives, as well as the typology and classification of toponyms. It is concluded that it is necessary to generalize toponymic studies and prepare a dictionary of toponomastic terminology, including the forms of Soviet, Russian and Western scientific knowledge in toponomastics. The practical significance of the work lies in focusing the attention of specialists on certain aspects of the functioning of the modern toponomastic terminological system and in the possibility of using the proposed new terms. The theoretical significance of the analysis lies in the generalization of linguistic teachings on the problem of oppositions and antonyms of different years. The purpose of the work is to describe simple structures from the point of view of classifying opposition by part-of-speech and by the method of forming relations, and complex structures from the standpoint of word formation, lexico-semantic means, as well as a combination of both. The objectives of the study are to analyze the grammatical categories of case, animateness/inanimateness and number. Its novelty lies in the fact that, in contrast to the traditional consideration of antonyms as opposites between two or more structures, antonymy is also considered here within one element (opposition), which is understood as nomination. Such general scientific methods as analysis, synthesis, comparison, generalization are applied. The toponymic issues of publications of the district media include etymological references to the current name of the settlement or its original versions (if the settlement was renamed), information about the disappeared settlements that were located on the territory of the district, modern and former names of streets and parts of the settlement, about people in whose honor settlements, streets, squares, alleys, squares, etc. were named, local toponymic legends and traditions. The purpose of the study is, using the example of regional newspapers of the Voronezh region, to identify local linguistic publications devoted to the currently existing and disappeared names of geographical objects (settlements, streets), to develop proposals for local linguistic education of journalists of regional media. It is concluded that journalists of regional newspapers in their publications actively use local existing and disappeared toponymic material, which can also be used by onomatologists as a serious source for scientific research. The purpose of the study is to assess the importance of revealing the content of the concept of soft skills in the modern world, on the one hand, and on the other hand, to emphasize the importance of including this concept in pedagogical discourse in order to form and activate the concept under study in the minds of students. The analysis of works describing the essence of the concept as a linguo-cognitive phenomenon and the typology of concepts was carried out; the main structural characteristics of the studied concept in the English language, revealed on the basis of the method of conceptual and definitional analysis, are given. So, the following characteristics are distinguished: types of soft skills, scope of soft skills, purpose of using soft skills, result of using soft skills, source of soft skills, form of expression of soft skills, level of development of soft skills. Each characteristic has several sub-characteristics. In addition to the issue of conceptualization, the topic of pedagogical discourse is also considered. The definitions of discourse proposed by different scientists are studied. It is important to note that the above problems are not considered in parallel, but precisely with the aim of linking them in the context of pedagogical activity. The aim of the study is to describe the rhetorical parameters of the genres of praise, approval, compliment and flattery, which are included in the genres group of a positive assessment of a person and his actions, as well as to develop criteria for distinguishing between these genres. All genres belonging to this group are united by the addresser position: he experiences (or pretends to experience) one or another positive attitude, which he wants to notify the addressee about. The rhetorical features of all genres of the group are described in detail and the characteristics by which they can be distinguished are highlighted. Praise is considered to be the group central element of positively evaluative genres. In 2022, the reaction of domestic glossy publications to the objective conditions of the new reality is divided into three types: some closed, others remained the same, and others changed their brands. The research material is glossy publications that have carried out rebranding: TechInsider, “Novyi ochag”, The Symbol, Men Today, U Magazine, The VOICE, “Pravila zhizni”. The purpose of this research is to study the state of the magazine segment of the domestic media industry during the rebranding of glossy publications. The methods used in the course of our research include system analysis, in-cluding comparative and functional approaches. For a visual presentation of the research results, all its parts are built according to a single scheme: verbal and visual brand attributes, media con-tent (categorization), development strategy in the digital field, brand values. Evaluation of the re-branding nature comes from the fact of preservation or transformation of the value level. As a re-sult, conclusions are drawn that publications took advantage of the situation in different ways: most publications do not depart from the established global brand and carry out partial rebranding, while others, on the contrary, decide to continue functioning in a new form. A full-fledged rebranding is carried out by “The VOICE” and “Pravila zhizni”, completely changing both the external and internal appearance of the publication. Khvorova","doi":"10.20310/2587-6953-2023-9-4-822-834","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.20310/2587-6953-2023-9-4-822-834","url":null,"abstract":"In a study based on the material of the author’s (source) text of the said novel (1973), a “verification” of the key provisions that became the basis of its complex polyphonic conflict was carried out. To achieve this goal, we mainly used the receptive method, which is widespread in modern literary research practice. The concept of “artistic historicism” is emphasized, both its similarities and differences from the realities of history, the details of the historical process. The understanding of the original artistic and documentary style of Yu. Semenov is continued – the specifics of historicism as the “ciphering” of historical facts, which began in the first part of the study. The author’s hypothesis about the “exit” of the conflict embedded within the artistic paradigm of the novel’s text on the geopolitical and psychological levels – into the real vicissitudes of world history in the middle of 20th – 21st centuries was analytically tested. In this regard, the key statements of documentary-fiction characters (A. Dulles, W. Churchill and W. Schellenberg), deliberately removed by the director from the film version (intertext) of the novel, are emphasized and studied. The emergence of a real global geopolitical conflict between the West and Russia of the era of “peace at war” (the author’s term of the article), formed in the spring of 1945, in the days of the approaching defeat of Nazi Germany, but originating in June 1941, is traced (Yu. Semenov’s novel “ Third card\"). In conclusion, the foundations of this scientific research are formulated with verification of historical, geopolitical facts set out in the report of a modern Russian statesman, Director of the FSB of Russia, Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation N.P. Derzhavin are revealed. Based on the material of the original title of the poem “Zhizn’ na Zvanke” (later called “Evgeniyu. Zhizn’ Zvanskaya”), the expediency of the presence of the preposition NA- in the toponym Zvanka is considered and the correctness of its use is established, which is reflected in modern rules for the use of toponymic word forms. It is substantiated that the word forms of the toponym NA Zvanke, V Petropol give an idea not only of the nomination process itself, reflecting the connection of the toponym with the denotation through a motivating feature, but also about the culture of using the toponym in the context of both synchrony and diachrony. Based on the material of complex onomastic signs, consisting of an anthroponym and a common noun, the profiling of the autocrat’s attribute is established: “occupation”, “evaluative characteristic”, “degree of fame”.
