Anikin's novella «Death in Dresden», F.K. Dick's novel «The Man in the High Castle» and K. Newman's novel «Anno Dracula». In the course of the analysis, the following problems have been considered: why the variety of styles is characteristic of the alternate history genre, whether the stylistic models of the classical and fantastic types of alternate history novels differ, thanks to which method of narrative organization a sense of narrative authenticity is created, and in which cases the reader immediately manages to understand that what is written is fiction. The results can be used in the further development of the typology of alternate history fiction and the identification of trends in the development of the modern literary process. The article uses typological, structural and cultural-historical methods of literary analysis.","PeriodicalId":343725,"journal":{"name":"Bulletin of Udmurt University. Akunin’s blog Love of History . With the help of the contexts from Google Books, the most important features of homo soveticus are distinguished; the authors show how the Soviet man became disillusioned with the ideals brought up in him from childhood. One of these ideals is interpreted within the metaphorical model “revolution as a woman”. Based on the material of the blog entry “Lover of the Revolution (Age-Written)” (26.09.2013), the general text implementation of this metaphor is shown. It has been suggested that, in addition to direct negative evaluation nominations of the female image and the accompanying mythologization, this model appears at the levels of the categories of composition, theme, chronotope, and tonality. A detailed categorical analysis made it possible to confirm this hypothesis: the revolution, metaphorically displayed as a woman, retains a temporal connotation in the analyzed entry; the main character, who occupies the position of the theme (its “lover”), comes to be in a difficult relationship with the revolutionary epoch and eventually dies, “burned in the flames” of his own passion.","PeriodicalId":343725,"journal":{"name":"Bulletin of Udmurt University. Such a document is the basis for the activities of most companies, which is why its adequate translation is so important for international business. The texts of General Terms and Conditions belong to the legal substyle of the official business style; the main linguistic features of such texts were identified. The problems of translating such texts arise due to the linguistic nature of the terms, to the specific characteristics of legal terms, to the discrepancy between the legal systems of states, and may also be associated with insufficient training of translators. The analysis revealed typical translation errors caused by reverse linguistic and cultural interference. Specialized terminology from other areas of knowledge, such as banking and freight traffic, was found challenging the translator's job. The material of the study consists of 50 texts of General Terms and Conditions, the total number of pages is 489.","PeriodicalId":343725,"journal":{"name":"Bulletin of Udmurt University. The results of the available psycholinguistic studies, including experimental ones, are sometimes mutually exclusive. Therefore, there was a need to turn to the works of linguists, psychologists and pedagogues of the XX century, in which was made an attempt to understand how the subject of speech learns punctuation and uses it. The article is devoted to the origins of the psycholinguistic approach to punctuation: “psychology of punctuation” and theory of teaching punctuation in school. It is shown that thanks to the “psychology of punctuation” the semantic principle received priority in the view of learning punctuation and the interaction of the social and personal determinations in the use of punctuation marks became obvious. The theory of teaching punctuation revealed the specifics of the punctuation skill, its basis - the vision of the punctuation mark, the connection between the use of punctuation marks in the process of creating a written utterance and the expanded internal speech, the orientation of the use of punctuation on the text.","PeriodicalId":343725,"journal":{"name":"Bulletin of Udmurt University. The purpose of this article is to familiarize researchers with the archaic lexical units of the 240-year-old monument, glossaries fixed in the corpus of the dictionary, classify into lexico-semantic groups and put into scientific circulation. The interpretation material was, preserved in a single copy, an anonymous monument of the 2nd half of the XVIII century. The scientific novelty lies in the fact that the dictionary entries contained in the corpus of a lexicographic work are very valuable for modern lexicology and lexicography. Many of these lexemes are absent in modern standardized dictionaries, they have not found a place even in a ten-volume dictionary of the explanatory type of the Mari language. By returning obsolete or obsolete units to active use, the Mari literary language would become even richer, they could replenish the modern dictionary and thereby free the lexical composition of the native language from unnecessary intrusions and borrowings. Glossaries are also reliable assistants for masters of the artistic word. In the course of the work, the methods of linguistic, comparative, semantic analysis and elements of statistical analysis were used as the main ones.","PeriodicalId":343725,"journal":{"name":"Bulletin of Udmurt University. The urban literature was rapidly developing, first of all, chronicles. Historiographic genres are most richly represented in imperial and free cities. The interest of the citizens in history stimulates the development of both city and regional chronicles. The collisions of the period, the struggle between the commune and the lords are reflected in these works. The purpose of the article is to analyze the interpretation of conflicts between the burghers and the episcopate in two chronicles of the XVI century, different in type, but with high cultural and historical significance, that is, the Chronicle of Worms by F. Zorn and the Chronicle of the Bishops of Würzburg by L. Fries. For the analysis, text fragments were chosen that tell about the collisions of the late Staufen era (the second third of the XIII century), while the main attention is paid to the Worms chronicle, since it most fully describes the events of this period. Both chroniclers present events fairly correctly, but they do it from different angles. Thus, the author of the Worms chronicle, F. Zorn, is quite negative towards the clergy and the pope, and is even able to verbally attack the latter. He explains the conflicts between the city and the bishops by the imperious claims and machinations of the latter, adhering to the position of the City Council. By contrast, L. Fries in the Chronicle of the Bishops of Würzburg, although restrained in his judgments and striving to be objective, describes the uprising of citizens against the bishop in negative tones, considering it a manifestation of outrage and a violation of the God-established order.","PeriodicalId":343725,"journal":{"name":"Bulletin of Udmurt University.
