This issue has been present in transactional analysis almost from its beginnings, and it has been discussed by various authors from various perspectives. In Poland the application of transactional analysis in pastoral care has been extensively analysed by Rev. Antoni Tomkiewicz, PhD from the Catholic University of Lublin. Galanciak, Marek Siwicki","doi":"10.16926/eat.2021.10.10","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.16926/eat.2021.10.10","url":null,"abstract":"The article presents selected extracts of qualitative research results on the psychological and social situation experienced by people during the time of the COVID-19 pandemic in the opinion of pedagogy students. An attempt to prevent the virus from spreading by introducing lockdown confined millions of people in their homes, limited their freedom and interpersonal contacts. For many, this time was an impulse for a more profound existential reflection. The researchers, interested in the issue of students’ reflectiveness, asked a group of them to prepare short essays collecting reflections dating back to the first wave of the pandemic. The research involved 36 students of the Academy of Special Education, in two age groups – those beginning their studies and those heading towards the end. The gathered texts were subject to an analysis complying with the methodology of the grounded theory. The discourse analysis performed from the interpretative perspective allowed for selecting 4 key categories in the students’ comments, and then for pointing to differences between the groups as far as the issues discussed were concerned. This article presents the results of the research encompassing two categories: reflections of the subjects on their own subjectivity and reflections concerning their ecological identity. The younger subjects demonstrated a bigger concentration on the personal perspective and their comments were more emotional and optimistic. In this paper, we look at the process from the perspective of educational transactional analysis.The purpose of the process was to increase the sense of psychological and content security of the 7th and 8th grade community during the period of December 2021.630 individuals actively participated in the process. The analysis was based on qualitative re- search in 5 groups of school community members: teachers (N = 45), students (N = 300), parents (N = 280), a group of psychologists and educators (N = 3) and school management (N = 2). The process included: observation, in-depth interviews, group work, and discussion. Participants also had an opportunity to individually analyze conclusions and proposals developed during the process.As a result of the actions taken, comprehensive solutions and recommendations were pro- posed, which were communicated and implemented in the community of classes VII and VIII, among students, teachers and parents. {"title":"Kolb’s cycle in teachers’ group work in the context of transactional analysis","authors":"Justyna Józefowicz, Hanna Buchner","doi":"10.16926/eat.2021.10.05","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.16926/eat.2021.10.05","url":null,"abstract":"In this paper we look at processes occurring among teachers during annual development pro- grammes, juxtaposing observations of behaviour in the context of Kolb’s cycle with selected ele- ments of transactional analysis.The purpose of this paper is to provide a preliminary analysis of phenomena, as described by Transactional Analysis (AT) (Jagieła, 2015, Motyl, 2019), that may occur in the first two phases of Kolb’s cycle. The premise of the work is that the teacher’s development priority is the ability to self-observe and build awareness of one’s own decisions, behaviors, and motivations (Juszczyk, 2013, Szymańska, 2016). The development programs from which the observations described in the article were taken, were attended by 120 people, belonging to 6 workshop groups. Each group consisted of 12 to 20 teachers of various subjects in grades 4–8 and elementary school principals from all over Poland. The groups implemented, preceded by an extensive needs analysis, the de- velopment programs Sense and Method and Join the Dots over the years 2017–2021. Each pro- gram had a developmental goal, was not planned and implemented as a research program. Ob- servation records and internal recordings were analyzed for the purpose of this study. The programme was positively assessed by independent reviewers and obtained the second out of three recommendation levels – good practice. In this way, the offer of educational institutions support and preventive-educational activities executed by them was enlarged. The aim of this article is to present the assumptions of “School tutoring – pedagogy of dialogue programme”, taking into account the presence and significance of the system of recommending preventive measures itself. The article shall also contain a description of the procedure evaluating the quality of the aforesaid programme. Berne's observations, in this article the author refers to the concept of hunger (Stewart, Joines, 2018, pp. 96 - 97, Tomkiewicz, 1984, pp. 98-102) and signs of recognition (Stewart, Joines, 2018, pp. 96 - 114) as important aspects of building a culture of dialogue since the early years of human existence. The author draws attention to the feedback, as one of the basic tools, which allows to effectively provide knowledge and to set the path of development. As a key element of shaping the attitude of a young person, the author indicates development through communication. In this process, feedback plays a significant role as a catalyst of potential. It allows to monitor and respond to the needs of the client. Galanciak, Marek Siwicki","doi":"10.16926/eat.2020.09.15","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.16926/eat.2020.09.15","url":null,"abstract":"The article presents partial results of qualitative research concerning opinions of pedagogy students on the psychological-social situation experienced by people at the time of the COVID-19 pandemic. The necessity of limiting the transmission of the virus sentenced whole societies to home confinement, limited their mobility and people-to-people contacts, brought the world to a standstill. For many, it also became an inspiration to reflect on the current hierarchy of values. 36 students of the Maria Grzegorzewska University were the sample of the research and they were divided into two age groups - those beginning their studies and those finishing them. They were asked to prepare short essays collecting their reflections from the first stage of the pandemic. The texts wereanalysed in accordance with the research methodology. There were 4 key categories singled out in the students’ utterances, which made it possible to show the group differences in their attitude towards discussed issues. The younger respondents were more concentrated on their personal perspective and their opinions were more emotional and optimistic.
